Florida Police caught on tape falsely charging woman

A Florida police cruiser rear-ended the back of a woman's vehicle and then 4 cops conspired to make her responsible for the damage. Another example of corrupt police protecting their own.

I read the article a few days ago. What else is new? Imagine all the others where the cops cover their tracks better and charge innocent people with crimes, or fail to properly investigate crimes.

There was a case in TN a few weeks ago where a guy was charged with rape and it took 6 weeks for the DA to drop charges even though the accussers friends, coworkers and own mother kept saying she was crazy, had did crazy sexual stuff before and did not believe her story. She also had two prior CONVICTIONS of filing false police reports.

Many police are the biggest criminals there are, and their fellow officers protect them.

Come on folks, this story has already made it on POF.
Thread searches are easy and take little time.

Yeah, but that other thread’s first sentence was so ignorant, I couldn’t read any further.

OP
You could attribute it to:

(1) a growing population in the U.S., which produces more crime and therefore leads to the need to hire cops quickly, with less screening; and,
(2) more cops with "issues" hitting the streets.
(3) fewer cops without "issues" deciding to enter the occupation because gang bangers and druggies have better weapons than they do, and can hire lawyers to get their cases thrown out in a couple of days.

There seems to be a rash of police activity that would make Roscoe P. Coltrane look like Officer of the Year, but perhaps this is due to better media coverage, I don't know, and I doubt that law enforcement will open itself up to scientific scrutiny. I think that it's always been the case that a small minority of cops should not be there. With today's media and more transparency as to what is truly going on in America, perhaps it seems as though there is more corruption. I would like to believe that, but keep an open mind as to whether better screening and better training is needed to keep the bad seeds away. Major problem with that --- this would mean higher salaries.

You could attribute it to:

True. And you could be wrong

1) Despite the growing population, crime has been going down in nearly all categories
2) Screening of cops has increased, not decreased over recent years, to avoid lawsuits
3) Most "druggies" are non-violent and gang bangers usually don't carry weapons and can't afford a lawyer. As for getting their case thrown out, more than 90% of all drug arrests lead to a conviction.

IOW, your post is just another apologia for criminals with badges. Another submissive police state worshipper, groveling for the approval of their masters.

I was an MP in the Army, and a civil police officer before I became an academic. But I guess you know better; you always do. I don't know where you get your statistics, and I don't really lose any sleep over it. I'm not trying to apologize for criminals with badges, but I realize that they are in the minority. I'm trying to defend the cops who truly believe in the credo of "protect and serve." But I don't reckon you understand that, like the fire men who died during 9-11, there's an awful lot of people in the law enforcement field who truly are dedicated to doing their best to serve that same credo.

Sitting in an arm chair, or whatever, makes it awful easy to judge others. It's a whole lot different when you're out there.

My brother is LT commander of a very large PD. He would be harsher in judgement upon cops that betrayed the publics interests. Way to paint law inforcement with a broad brush folks.

Nothing surprises me these days. It's funny how people will choose to make a situation worse by trying to cover-up their wrongdoings, instead of humbly accepting responsibility for their actions.

Classic appeal to authority. Your credentials are beyond the scope of the discussion, which is an exchange of opinions. No one is obligated to believe any interfential claims you make on the basis of being an MP or a police officer, and said claims do not grant your opinions more merit.

like the fire men who died during 9-11

lol, an appeal to emotion, too.

Conventional reason is another item in short-stock, right next to humility.

Cops are just people. Plenty of people would do the same thing. Nothing to see here.

This is why most people don't trust cops. Did everyone hear the dash-cam recording? Notice how matter-of-factly they painted the incident to protect the cop? They have clearly done this type of thing before...it's probably a required coarse in cadet school.
