| Living Colour Posted: 8/3/2009 9:55:38 PM | | The band, not the TV show which was called In Living Colour, however like the band was fronted primarily by african american artists. I really love em, Cult of Personality is a crazy slick tune, Vivid is actually a pretty good hard rock album with some wicked drumming and guitar playing going on. They never reached the height of popularity that their talent should have brought them from what I understand, they were mainly big in the USA during the 80's and 90's but still tour a bit these days. I wouldn't mind seeing them some day, it would probably be a good show. | |

| Living Colour Posted: 8/3/2009 10:09:13 PM | Living Colour is one of the coolest bands,I love how that wrote hard rock tunes with groove.......Groove was/ is sadly missing from most heavy music , most metal back in the day was pretty ' viking ' sounding .....as in no groove ,just opera and viking horns
Living Colour changed that,they rule

| Living Colour Posted: 8/4/2009 4:57:45 AM | They were a breath of fresh air when they arrived on the scene 20 years ago. "Cult of Personality" is still a great tune. They're releasing a new album in September called "The Chair In The Doorway." I would imagine it'll be followed by a tour.

| Living Colour Posted: 8/5/2009 4:01:15 PM | | I only know "Cult of Personality"...it's a great tune! | |

| Living Colour Posted: 8/5/2009 9:41:21 PM | | good band but vernon reid smokes so much super killer diller weed that he's in a perpetual fog. | |

| Living Colour Posted: 8/6/2009 4:10:57 PM | I took drum lessons from the drummer of Living Colour, when I was little. He first taught me the beat to Tone Loc's Wild Thing. It was hilarious because I was a little white girl. | |

| Living Colour Posted: 8/6/2009 6:30:16 PM | Great band. Truly one of a kind. A blend of metal, funk, soul, social commentary, party music, insane guitar work.... uh..... surfwear? Just an orgy of collective awesomeness.
I'm glad to see them finally doing a full scale U.S. tour again.

| Living Colour Posted: 8/8/2009 8:08:40 AM | 'Time's Up' was my favorite album of theirs. The title song was a speed metal blast, with that weird Russian-dance interlude, and many of the other songs were great, too.
Excellent band. | |

| Living Colour Posted: 8/10/2009 4:15:49 PM | I've actually been listen to Vivid a hell of a lot lately...it's such a great album.
You should check out Nuno if you like LC so much.

| Living Colour Posted: 8/15/2009 11:57:27 AM | | Great band. Time's Up was a really good album. I saw them live around the time Doug Wimbish replaced Muzz Skillings on bass. Awsome! Does anyone know the singer (Cory Glover) had a speaking part in the film Platoon? | |

| Living Colour Posted: 8/18/2009 12:55:59 PM | I so remember Living Colour coming on the scene - jesus talk about a trip down memory lane!
Vivid was a good album. The songs are really well written and the playing is tight. You can hear what good musicians they are. They were one of the first black heavy rock bands and back then it was unusual. Also can anyone remember 24-7 Spies? They were much heavier and all black americans.
For us Black Thrashers /Metal Chicks, it was so great for us to have black bands making great music. Bad Brains were doing it for ages with their hardcore. There would be 1 or 2 black faces in the whole audience, mine being one out of two Lol. It was still cool.

| Living Colour Posted: 8/21/2009 1:11:05 PM | | Living Colour is awesome! I have a tremendous amount of respect for any musician/band who pushes the boundaries...Cult of Personality is great, but they have good albums, too. | |
|
| Living Colour Posted: 8/23/2009 7:48:11 PM | | I got to see them about 6 years ago, Vernon Reid is one of the best rock guitar players in the world, and he has John Mclaughlin speed. And Will Calhoun never ran out of chops on that show. It was a fantastic show. | |

| Living Colour Posted: 8/29/2009 1:43:08 PM | Great...now I have a sudden craving to find "Open Letter to a Landlord" on my pooter..Awesome band. | |
|
| Living Colour Posted: 9/3/2009 4:51:26 PM | Wow I cant believe you someone mentioned the Spyz...They are one of my all time favorite underground bands. I actually had the pleasure of being on a bill with them in 91. Some may not know that Vernon Reid was a member of 24-7 Spyz before he put together Living Colour. And believe it or not, both bands are currently gigging. Living Colour started a tour this week & has a new record due out the 15th of Sept on the Megaforce label called "The Chair In The Doorway" .
Also...some other old skool black rock bands some may remember are "Fishbone" , Follow For Now" , and "Lucy Brown" . The 1970's brought us "Mothers Finest" ,and of course the band that influenced so many others Washington D.C.'s one and only "Bad Brains".
Cheers Yo...! | |

| Living Colour Posted: 9/4/2009 9:13:05 PM | | Looks like I am going to have to get another iTunes card and download me some more of their albums, I love Vivid which I got off iTunes and had a couple of bonus tunes I do believe, it would be awesome to see them if they plan on touring though. | |

| Living Colour Posted: 9/7/2009 10:33:56 AM | Awww Living Colour! They bring me back to a happy time of my teenage, FNM poster adorned room, ghetto blaster pumping out "And during the few moments that we have left, I wanna talk down to earth in a language that everyone here can easily understand..."
Followed normally by Anthrax, perhaps some REM or Nirvana?
The nineties! SO underrated for tunes..... x
|
| Living Colour Posted: 9/7/2009 2:36:01 PM | | Great band ahead of it's time! I still have'em my IPOD! Veron Reid was just sick on the guitar! The opening riff on "Cult..." was just nuts! Definitely "outside" the norm! | |
|
| Living Colour Posted: 9/10/2009 5:46:32 PM | Spanky -
Totally agree about Will Calhoun, fantastic drummer. I saw him do a show with Mos Def a few years back, and he was absolutely awesome. Very unusual sound.
|
| Living Colour Posted: 9/11/2009 6:06:06 PM | | That is so odd that the band Living Colour came up, as I was listening to a metal radio show on line at work today, and they played 'Cult' and one of the new ones off 'Chair in The Doorway'. | |

They are on tour now. I am actually going to see them in about three weeks at a small/mid size venue. Can't wait.
