My car was stolen
Posted: 8/7/2009 7:29:30 PM
Went out Thursday AM, ready for another day in the salt mines... and my car had vanished. It took me a few minutes to convince myself it had actually been stolen... I had to look around and see if i had parked it in the wrong spot, or if I had left it out on the street and imagined that I had driven it back in and parked it!

So now I get to make a car payment again. Oh well, i had kinda wanted a new vehicle for a while. Now I get my wish! I'm thinking maybe Hyundai Santa Fe or Kia Sportage. Anyone drive one of those? Or a similar mid-sized 6 cylinder SUVish thing? What do you think?

It reminds me of this one guy, when he said yeah I reported my car stolen right after I pushed it into the lake.

Hey John, did you call the police to see if maybe it was sitting in an impound lot?
I once woke up, went out to get my car, and found it wasn't there anymore! At first I thought it was stolen, because there was no room in the driveway and I had parked it at the mall overnight. In the end though it turned out it had been towed away.
Some areas have strict traffic laws, and even parking on a driveway, where your car is over the sidewalk, will get you towed.

Hey John, did you call the police to see if maybe it was sitting in an impound lot?

That happened to me once. I had a long weekend off work and nothing to do, so I enjoyed being lazy all weekend and not going out at all. My car was parked right in front of my apartment (there were no driveways, you were supposed to park in the street). Well apparently, I had "abandoned" my car right there in it's usual parking spot, so the police and tow truck guys stole it and ransomed it back to me. This was in Columbus Ohio, they're notorious for doing that kinda thing there, but I was never once pulled over for speeding by the Columbus police even though I gave them plenty of opportunities.

Oh wow AwP, that really stinks. How in the heck are you supposed to park at your apartment for a while without getting your car towed then?
Maybe they should print up little pieces of paper that look like tenant parking permits, and the tenants can put those on their dash under the windshield?

That car was paid off four years ago ;-P

And if I had just parked it in a bizarre spot and had it towed away, I would hope that they would have been able to figure it out and let me know by now!

I was out looking at new cars today. I really think the Santa Fe Limited is the car for me. I just hope the stripped frame shows up so I can be done with this! If it just stays disappeared, it'll be about two weeks for insurance to pay off.

The Ford Escape is rated very well and offers many benefits over the hyundai or Kia. Most importantly, if you are travelling and you are in need of warranty work, parts and/or a general mechanic to do a minor repair, hyundai's and Kia's don't offer you the security of knowing most towns have a ford dealership.

I've not heard any complaints about the Ford Escape. I've been asking around and checking ratings about 'escapes'.... they seem to be a very good purchase in that class of vehicle.

After living with the hope that my old car would be stolen I finally gave up. (If I didn't alarm my car then insurance would not be paid, so it was alaways alarmed). On two occassions someone had attempted to steal my car, but unfortunately the alarm went off!!!
I gave up and bought myself a brand new GETZ and I love it and it's alarm!!!
