It is not surprising users continue to post questions about the IM service, because they are instructed to use it.
As the IM service has been discontinued I respectfully suggest that references to the IM service scattered throughout the website be edited.
For example, from http://forums.plentyoffish.com/datingPosts405843.aspx
British Columbia forum rules Each part of this site has a purpose, if you want to message a lot of people and talk to others use the IM and message functions of this site.
On the "My Matches" page:
Last 10 people to check their mail, in your state. IM User= Instant Message a user online right now.
Perhaps other users can point out where else such references exist, so admin can take of all of them in one editing session.

| Remove references to IM because it has been discontinued. Posted: 8/9/2009 9:07:51 AM | It took 53 threads and 8 or so months to have Sex and Sexuality spelled correctly - buying a lottery ticket might have better odds :) / ToB
No! That can't be true! [/sarcasm]
I'm still kicking myself for pushing for the addition of the word "philosophy" in the science forum. I swear, as God is my witness, I really did think people would make the contextual connection that since science was there, the inclusion of the word philosophy meant, as defined by: Epistemology
noun ~ Philosophy the theory of knowledge, esp. with regard to its methods, validity, and scope. Epistemology is the investigation of what distinguishes justified belief from opinion.
Not: [1]"What is the meaning of life...." type stuff.
My bad.
I'd lobby for the switch to, "Science/Epistemology", but that would probably mean 53+ threads of: "waht meens Epistallovame?"

Nice to see other people listing more references to the IM service.

| Remove references to IM because it has been discontinued. Posted: 2/15/2010 8:07:50 PM | Good news!! Earlier this month we saw progress on this issue.
On the page "Users That Have You On Their Favorites List" previously showed "Instant Message" for any member on that page that is online.
Now it more appropriately shows "Online Now" status of such member that is logged in.
Keep up the good work Admin (but don't stop now please).
Among other above and aforementioned issues still outstanding, we still have have the caution when you hide or have hidden your profile:
Hiding your profile disables many things such as the Instant Messenger.
