I'm sure this must have been asked before, so if someone can point me to a post that explains it, that would be nice.

I really wish that there were community voting to delete threads in the Ask a Girl and Ask a Guy threads. Most are redundant, many are profile reviews, and a lot are simply ridiculous. Yet, in the "newest threads" there are more new threads in these two fora than in any other forum.

But if there are more new threads in these two fora than in any other, doesn't that show that a lot of people want them?
I prefer the ridiculous threads: they're more entertaining.

How interesting is it to check out new threads, and see 3 in AAG that are "why don't women answer my email?", 3 more asking "why women never choose a nice guy?", and one that is an overweight male complaining that thin women won't "give him a chance", because he isn't attracted to overweight women?

Those threads push down other threads, to page 2 of the "newest threads", where few people look. The voting to delete threads that break the forum posting guidelines helps to reduce the clutter, and I think is an excellent feature, where it's available. It's not available in the AAG fora.

Frankly, I'd rather see these forums deleted

The limit of 20 posts is good.
a lot of people want them

...not that different from the old chat room (removed because it was a huge source of problems), and the old Word Games forum (removed because it was a huge source of problems), ...I see a trend.

Thanks lonehawk. I had seen those threads, but they didn't really address the question in this thread. It seems that you support my pov, that these two fora would be greatly helped, if the uber redundant and ridiculous ones could be deleted by the community, instead of having to complain to the mods. By the time the mods could get to them, they will usually have exceeded their 21 replies.

lonehawk--In my own personal opinion, those 2 forums, more than any others, should be the ones that allow users to delete threads.

Yesterday, as an example, there were two "why don't women answer my email?" threads. The second guy didn't even have the decency for the first thread to "fill up" before he "just had to" rush to his computer to pose that eternal question.
