Do you look good for your age? Are you happy with what you see or do you long to change the way you look?

Someone once said to me its ok to look your age as long as you look good for your age. I have good days and bad days and think Im pretty average for my years. When you look in the mirror what do you think? Are you happy with what you see or do you long to change the way you look?

The trouble with this is a lot of people who think they look good for their age take the liberty of shaving a few years off which is one of my pet hates, most of my mates i went to school with are fat and bald so i'd say i'm ageing well in comparison...but then i have shaved 22 years off

I think I look my age, apart from by candlelight.
When I was 50, a younger man guessed that I was about 45. "Did you knock off 5 years to be polite?" I asked. "Yes," he replied.
I'm not so much happy with what I see as used to it.

I think i look my age - others may difer. The only time i look in the mirror is when im shaving and its half covered with foam then lol.
I dont get hung up about my age Im as old as i am and cant change it. Some people say i look older some say i look younger. Take an average I look the same

Yep, probably do scrub up pretty well. People don't seem to believe I'm 40, maybe they're just being kind. I can still manage dog rough in the morning though :)

Same as you Lynx in that I have good and bad days. I think on the whole I dont look 40. I have never sunbathed or smoked and I dont have any lines or wrinkles. I work hard to look as good as I possibly can within the natural limits of my looks. Sometimes I think I would like to change certain things, i have seriously considered a nose job and a breast reduction. I am not sure I would like to see a different face looking back at me in the mirror though. When I am having an ugly day and feeling self- indulgent and sorry for myself because I dont have a perfect face I think of people with disfigurements and tell myself not to be so bloody vain. There are not many truly ugly people out there, we are just discontent with what Mother Nature gave us, usually without good reason.

I have good days and bad ones :) I always get told by both men and women i dont look my age (42) but thats the joy of fatness it plumps out the wrinkles... im practically wrinkle free although i did find one when i laugh under my right eye thats new!

i wouldnt dream of putting that on my profile though, people that always have "im 42 but look 30!" worry me slightly like theyre trying to cling onto their youth and remind me of the oldest swingers in town

Makes me think they are unhappy with who they are when they have to point the age thing out

From the neck up, yes, I think so - although I cheat with Eyesential and make up. From the neck down, well that's another matter!!!

I dont think its for us to say ourselves...define 'good for age'...?

Personally it irritates me a little when I get a message from younger men saying 'You look great for your age'...I usually reply saying why cant I just look great? Why do you have to tag on the age part? If I saw a guy that was obviously mature and looked good I would tell him he looked fantastic...NOT fantastic for his age...call it a pet hate, not that I have an age thing going on you understand...

But I realise they are complimenting me, so...its very nice of them to bother to write really, they dont have to.

I look rough as old boots

I think i may expire soon......

I probably look about 50

Mind you, when i tell people my age they dont look particularly shocked, so maybe i look closer to my age than i think

I dont think i'll get asked for id when buying fags and booze anytime soon though.

I look as rough as even older boots!

Most people over-estimate me by about 5 years, I just blame it on a hard life.

What Really gets my goat is that my older brother actually looks much younger than me, by at least 10 years.

..and he never tires of rubbing it in!

.... where does 'for your age' enter the equation? I would like to fancy the pants off someone who fancies the pants off me. I would like to have a friendship with that woman too and the big lurrrrveee thang and find her stimulating company. Age comes so far down the list after all the above and a host of other things that it's not important. So as far as my age goes - it's not an issue.

I used to get told I looked 21 - 23. This was highly annoying so I shaved my head and grew a beard to look older, now I get told I look about 30, wish i'd have done it years ago, all those older women I was missing out on

It's in the eye of the beholder. I am comfortable with who I am and how I look, I am mostly flattered by someone complimenting me on ME, instead of my looks. Looks fade, and some are blessed more than others in the looks department - the essence of the person is what matters.

I do get told that I look younger than my age, but I don't get hung up on it, as my age may creep up on me suddenly if I do!!!!

Well why don't you try rubbing it in too if it's that good! (on your face this time)

I'm reasonably happy about the way I look....except I've shaved nearly 5 years off on this recent pic......so perhaps I'm having a midlife crisis....or perhaps I just like the picture and thought I'd share it! For my age, I'd say I'm wearing well...but now I've said that I'm probably on the slippery slope downwards from now on.
