| KC Area Singles... Saturday, October 10th 2009 ~ 7pm @ Side Pockets in Independence! Posted: 8/10/2009 3:35:37 PM | We are going to be heading out to a new location this night to listen to some live music. And playing this night is one of the best and most in demand local bands in the area. Are you ready to party? If you're ready to party... come party with Charlie!
Charlie and the Stingrays, that is. They're a no-holds barred party band that's always a guaranteed good time. They play only the hottest Rock and Roll hits from the 60's, 70's, and 80's along with carefully chosen dance favorites of today. This mixture makes for an evening of non-stop excitement. The music brings out emotions within the audience that most bands simply can't bring to life. That's why Charlie and the Stingrays have been in constant demand in their twenty-two years together. They have performed as an opening act for The Doobie Brothers, Peter Frampton, Ozark Mountain Daredevils, The Romantics, Mitch Ryder, The Guess Who, Atlanta Rhythm Section, BadFinger, Sweet, Head East, The Edgar Winter Group, Blood Sweat and Tears, Eddie Money and many more. Charlie and the Stingrays were inducted into American Bandstand's Walk of Fame on June 7, 1999, by owner, Dick Clark.
Charlie and the Stingrays is a five-piece band consisting of guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, and "Charlie", the personable lead vocalist and front man. Charlie keeps the show moving in high gear! All five members share the lead vocals, which makes the three, four, and five-part harmonies something you have to experience for yourself. Time & Location Details : 7pm to close (1:30am) and the kitchen stays open until midnight! Side Pockets Sports Bar - Independence 4470 South Noland Road Independence, MO 64055 Phone: 816-350-9000
This facility is one of the largest restaurant and sports bar in the Kansas City area. At over 16,000 square feet, Side Pockets - Independence offers an exciting casual dining concept, combining both food and fun. Their menu offers a wide variety of appetizers, entrees, steaks, pastas, and sandwiches.
Did I mention fun? Side Pockets houses (38) pool tables, (8) electronic dart boards, a Golden Tee Golf game, a PGA Golf game, the NTN Trivia Network and a jukebox that is matched by few. This facility houses (2) 10ft. projection screens, a 63in Big Screen TV, and (20+) perimeter televisions so you can catch all of your favorite programs and sports events.
Seating: We have 75 seats reserved under the Plenty Of Fish name! So come early and help save tables/seats. Bring cameras if you have them and take lots of pictures, so we can post them and show everyone all the fun, they are missing!
Cost: $3 cover charge after 8pm! And this is a non-smoking establishment but they do have a place outside for the smokers.
NOTE A: The ultimate goal here is to meet and make some new friends and to just have fun. Keep an open mind; first impressions are not always correct. Be prepared to approach the group. We are generally very friendly to new people, but we can't always tell who is there to meet/join the group. (Sometimes it is easier to come with a member who has been to an event before, or if you are uncomfortable approaching the group, approach an individual who will help introduce you to the group.) You can always approach the event organizer "Host" and ask them for help. We usually have people that will introduce you around if you want or need that. These events are for the enjoyment of all POF members and their guests. This is not intended to be a hook up meet even though that could happen for some. And again you must remember, these meet and greet events are what "YOU" make them. "YOU" have to take some initiative and say hi and make yourself known to people. So when you come, look for tables marked Plenty of Fish, say hi and grab a seat. Be yourself and have tons of fun, that is all we ask. You don't even have to be a member of POF to join us... ever. So grab a friend or two and come on out.
NOTE B: EVENT SIGN-UP IS NOT MANDATORY, HENCE POF MEMBERS AND/OR ALL THEIR GUESTS ARE WELCOME TO JOIN US. IF YOU WANT TO COME OUT BUT DON'T WANT TO SIGN UP THEN DO IT. EVERYONE AND ANYONE IS WELCOME, SIGNED UP OR NOT, MEMBER OR NOT! The sign up thing is just to help us get an approximate number of how many might come and how many seats to reserve or try to save.
People are welcome to discuss this event and post any relevant comments/suggestions and or ideas they may have. Constructive comments are welcome. Bashing, insulting, or slamming the event or other posters will not be tolerated and those posts will be deleted ASAP. Thank you.

| KC Area Singles... Saturday, October 10th 2009 ~ 7pm @ SidePockets in Independence! Posted: 8/10/2009 3:41:34 PM | SidePockets in Bonner Springs and Olathe have been closed down, no longer in business. So Charlie is now playing here at the Independence SidePockets. This one is posted way in advance in order to give everyone plenty of time to make plans and arrangements to attend this meet-up. Charlie and the Stingrays are awesome and usually a big draw and this should be a really great night of fun and good music with a lot of dancing mixed in. I hope we get a really nice turn out for this one. | |

And since I am to young to email you, I'll post some info here for you . For this event I would suggest the American Inn in Independence, Missouri located at I-70 & Noland RD - Exit 12 4141 S. The early you get there the better when it's a person's first time. Especially since this is an open to the public place so not everyone there is with the group. Once the band starts playing and everyone starts moving around dancing and mingling, it gets harder to know who is who and meet people. | |

| Bummer Posted: 10/7/2009 9:34:09 PM | I'd like to go...but, well first the good news. I have a hotel room in Overland Park for the weekend (Fri night thru Sunday) and am going to the Chiefs/Dallas game Sunday. The bad news is I have to work Fri and Sat night doing surveillance.
However, if anybody wants to do lunch Saturday and go with me to the Chiefs game (must be a good kisser lol).....
