Well, I've re-written my profile a dozen times since my last review, and I want to be sure I'm not making huge mistakes on it.

What do you folks think, is it "me"? Am I rambling and inarticulate, or am I spot on?

Let me hear it, good, bad, or ugly.

And thanks in advance for your time. Best of luck to all of you. :)

I don't mean to be negative, but I'm frustrated at all of the short profiles here...

Intelligence is sexy, demonstrate it in your profile! Two sentence profiles reduce this to "she's cute, I'll message her", if that's what I was looking for I could go to the bar. Short profiles belie your disinterest in starting a real relationship, n'est pas? If you honestly wanted people to engage with you on anything other than a sexual or superficial level, you could start by offering them something to engage with.

I do apologize for the rant, as I understand that some folks are new and haven't taken the time to think about this internet dating thing. However, if I see you in a bookstore, I have visual clues to build an idea of what you're like... Is she reading Kafka, Foucault, Mary Daly, or *shudder to think* Sophie Kinsella? If you see a woman in public, you've got body language, posture, clothing, and context to help decide if you may be interested in getting to know them. With just a photo and two sentences, well, I don't want to spend my evenings going out with women - no matter how outwardly beautiful they may be - to see if we have anything at all in common.

That's from my profile... didn't get to that, eh? *looks at your profile* ...probably not.

I've been adding to it alot, that's true... and it could probably use a good trim.

Perhaps I'll trim the Ipod rundown, though it does give alot of information about me, and some fun links to youtube content ( I really wish we could create hyperlinks from this site to stuff, or embed content in our pages ) but is largely just unnecessary!

Although, everyone who messages me says thanks for linking to the Andrea Gibson poem, and says some of the others are great, too. And that was one of the most fun parts of the damn profile creation process! ;)

Thanks for the input... Any suggestions where and what to trim?

And what does everyone else have to say?

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too long.

The best advice I have ever gotten is the "30 second elevator rule". Your profile should take no longer than 30 seconds to read. Keep it short, keep it simple, keep it fun, and leave something for later.
