I hear this all the time from women who claim that their out of wedlock births were unplanned pregnancies. They state that they were not trying to get pregnant, and they were shocked, SHOCKED, when they found out that they were, in fact, pregnant,
Yet when asked about birth control, when they are being honest, they admit to not having used any protection. This isn't like they had sex once or twice in the heat of the moment without protection, it is during their entire sexual relationship.
So how does having unprotected sex every time NOT equal trying to get pregnant?
*For the purposes of this thread, unprotected means without using any form of contraception at all. | |

Posted: 8/10/2009 10:33:03 PM | We're on the same page here. In this day and age, there is really no excuse for unplanned pregnancies. I was 17 when I had my first sexual experience, and was on the Pill and using condoms. There are so many choices in birth control, and they are so readily available, and inepensive ( go by any health department and they will throw condoms at you), put 75 cents in a machine in the gas station bathroom, or go to the gynecologist and get an IUD or implant or go on the shots, but do SOMETHING if you are going to have sex.
Maybe if you are 12 and live in a closet where you never see a Trojan commercial you may have an excuse, but barring that, don't try and claim that any pregnancy was an 'accident'.
Even the Virgin Mary had warning that she was going to be with child.

I know a woman who had been on the pill for a few years while in a relationship. She "decided" to stop taking them and that weekend went away with her boyfriend and they had sex several times a day for 3 days...she got pregnant...with TWINS...and was actually shocked that she got pregnant...and this is suppose to be a college educated woman who was on the brink of starting her career...
The guy ended up leaving her because he didn't want kids, which is why she was on the pill and I'm sure he felt deceived since she stopped taking them and didn't tell him...and last I heard, she's on welfare raising 2 kids...alone!

WOW! That is sad, incredibly sad, that she could be so clueless. Do you think she was just lying about being shocked, and just wanted to get pregnant, thinking her boyfriend would change his mind about not wanting children?

What is the point of that statement?... Absolutely squat. Who cares which partner is using birth control? In the end, if the guy skips town... the woman gets the children. If the woman skips town... the woman gets the children.
I'm not saying it's ones responsibility more than the other... but the consequences are hugely disproportional in the females favour. | |

They may have been practicing the "rhythm method", but most people who practice that end up something people call "parents". The one off-the-wall reason I could see being shocked if you end up preggers after unprotected sex would be if a doctor (after several tests) told you that you were sterile. Come on folks seriously does this make sense to you????
If you have unprotected sex whether it be 1 time or 30 you have just as much of a chance to get pregnant .
As far as the pull out method well if it weren't for this belief we would have a lot less pregnancies there can be preejaculatory sperm in seminole fluid knock knock.

I read something the other day that said the "pullout method" is only 4% less effective that use of a condom as far as contraception goes.

What? You both agree on the pill, she stops and is only HALF to blame? I guess when a married guy gets a VD from a cheating wife, it is half his fault, too. He could have worn a condom just in case. Yeah, I want to hear that conversation right before sex when he puts one on...

That is a very interesting article. It does go on to state:
In typical use, when used consistently and correctly, coitus interruptus and condoms have an 18 and 17 percent failure rate, respectively.
That is a pretty eye opening figure for me. I am assuming when referring to condom use means that just a condom is being used and no other form of birth control. I am interested to know how many people where used in the study. Looks like I got some lunch time reading. | |

Posted: 8/11/2009 9:38:16 AM | In the situation I discussed, I 100% agree with Wolftxus...that woman had NO ONE to blame but herself...the guy had NO clue she stopped taking her birth control. She even told me she brought them along on their 3-day getaway, and get this...she doesn't drink alcohol, so she can't even say she had fuzzy judgement...again she told me she decided not to take them, and had sex with her boyfriend several times each day within the 3 day period...when they returned, she didn't see him for a while because of their schedules. When she found out her due date, it 100% pointed to that particular weekend as to when her twins were conceived! She trapped this guy!
Of course not every situation is like this, but let's get real and in defense for some men...it happens a lot more than you think!
One of my mother's friends daughter actually did the "poke a hole in the condom trick" because she was so desperate to keep a certain guy in her life...if I was a guy, I would only wear condoms that I physically saw the packaged opened and immediately put on... | |
