| Have you Started an Odd Profile Photo Collection?? Posted: 8/13/2009 9:39:57 PM | After looking through all the photos of potential men here on POF I started saving the occasional odd photo that they put on their profile. I also like to check the competition so I've got a collection of odd women's photos too. People are so interesting...I find it amusing. Any one else???
My collection has certain catagories:
Men who look like Santa (but don't have 8 magical reindeer).
People who don't smile and look angry or half dead but describe themselves as "fun"
Strange object in the background (usually looks like it is sticking out of their head)
People who look much older than their age (sort of Ripley's believe it or not)
Odd poses, positions (not the mundane laying on a bed/couch, but more wtf?!!?)
Women who look like trannies
Men who look like old lesbians

Posted: 8/13/2009 9:45:13 PM | hmm This is a first and I hope you didn't pick one of my pictures as being a man that looks like an old lesbian The question now is what do you plan to do with these pictures? I don't see you sitting there randomly staring at pictures of random people you don't know... At least I hope you don't =(
I would say this could be interesting and making some photo album over it but I think that might be against he rules / terms of use and such to use someone elses pictures for something not approved of by the site... Then again all the pictures are shared publicly so I don't really know what is legal or not.
Yah I don't save pictures of people from pof as it serves no purpose generally. Even if I were to be like showing people what people randomly post they would be like who is that. And I would be lost for words how to explain just some random person on POF who I never talked to.. Might come off as creepy.

| Have you Started an Odd Profile Photo Collection?? Posted: 8/13/2009 9:54:58 PM | How about: People in odd locations?
My all-time favourite one was when I was first on this site. I got an e-mail from someone, and his profile photo was obviously taken inside a cell at the local jail. I had just worked on a photo spread of the lockup (it was brand new) for the newspaper, and I knew right away where it was. I think even if I didn't have that insight, the stainless steel sink bolted to the concrete wall in the background might have been a give-away.
I remember he was looking for long-term, by the way. The jail is only for two-years-less-a-day sentences, though.

| Have you Started an Odd Profile Photo Collection?? Posted: 8/13/2009 10:00:10 PM | Well, I don't save the photos, but I DID have a previous persona here a couple years back, where just for the heck of it, every time I saw a photo of a guy with a shower curtain behind him I put him on my favorites list. I stated in my profile that that's what I was doing... and at about day 5 (with over 400 guys on my favorites list), my account disappeared, LOL. I guess it was against the rules... I had to change my email address to even be able to start a new profile without the shower curtain game on it.
Most of the guys had a sense of humor about it, I got a LOT of emails (and still occasionally email back and forth with a couple of 'em) but apparently not all of them thought it was funny so someone reported my profile. (Wipes imaginary tear from eye.)
But it was a fun 5 days! | |

I've got a collection of odd women's photos too. Too bad the forums don't allow us to post photos. I would post some profile (before) photos along with some actual date (after) photos just to see if ya'll can match em up.

| Have you Started an Odd Profile Photo Collection?? Posted: 8/14/2009 7:32:38 AM | I don't have a photo collection - but I've been known to forward profiles/pics to a friend who does the online thing too, usually because they are shocking in some way, or just really really funny. I did forward a "wink" on another site to some friends. It was a 77 year old man, with oxygen tubing. The headline was "I'm old and horny". It was followed by one of the most vulgar messages I've ever seen in my life.
I know, I know, how on earth could I pass that one up????

Posted: 8/14/2009 5:13:55 PM | Wow you like to do collages ha ever thought of doing one on your bucket list? or maybe : some other scenes you should discover this side of you . You obviously have a interest in this. I have an unposed wall where for some reason the camera was in a weird place or the lighting was weird or the faces were deep or authentic. I also thought of going to different churches and taking pics and writting summaries of each and my feelings I felt when I was there .

| Have you Started an Odd Profile Photo Collection?? Posted: 8/14/2009 11:45:50 PM | First, let me say I am so happy to have found this particular forum. Thank you :D
Second, yes, I am a compulsive picture hoarder. Even worse, I have a series of 'experts' who want to look at the pictures of any gentleman I am remotely interested in to check for serial killer tendencies. So far, they have actually been pretty darned accurate - not hacked to death yet :D
Human beings are so incredibly weird - and I have the images to prove it!

| Have you Started an Odd Profile Photo Collection?? Posted: 8/15/2009 12:17:08 AM | I don't have a profile photo collection, but I have a good friend who used to have one. I'll have to ask him tomorrow if he still has it.
I had a collection of people's "about me" sections. I would copy and paste the most poorly written profiles, or the ones from people who had something extremely strange about them.
My three all time favorites:
A woman with 46" hips who listed herself as "a few extra pounds".
A woman with a main photo focused on her breasts in a bikini top (they looked like they were about 42DD), who complained in her profile because so many men were sending her suggestive emails and she was looking for only friends.
A woman who was 4'11", and had a photo of herself topless, covering herself with her hand. Also complaining about the suggestive emails, as she was looking for friends.
There were about three screens worth that I'd collected during my first six months of trying online dating sites.

| Have you Started an Odd Profile Photo Collection?? Posted: 8/15/2009 1:22:05 PM | I wouldn't use any of these photos publically - I don't have the right to do that and wouldn't if I could. I'm not doing it to humiliate anyone or to try to make them feel bad because they don't meet my standards. I respect people who take a chance and put themselves out there...but wonder about their choice in photographs sometimes.
I just was trying to create an unusual topic for the forum as I get tired of seeing the same topics rehashed.

Which makes perfect sense - I think anyone who is well-adjusted is going to realize you must have a sense of humor when trying to navigate on-line dating. I started a collection after realizing men were downloading my images as a matter of course for later 'inspection'. All is fair in love and war - besides, my favourite set of images is connected to someone who very much meets my standards (and takes god-awful photos).

| Have you Started an Odd Profile Photo Collection?? Posted: 8/15/2009 3:32:03 PM | | I must be strange...Am I the only person who thinks that collecting strangers' pics from a dating site is all get out creepy? I would be completely creeped out if I found out I was in someone's photo collection - I don't even care what their reason is... | |

No, you aren't strange, just have different expectations of privacy - nothing wrong with that! I was initially horrified when I realized what men were doing with my images, because I had not shared the pictures with that expectation. Now it is simply funny, and I never send out anything that I will mind knowing had been stashed away on a hard drive for later viewing. Flattering in a weird way (OK, not really, but let me lie to myself :D
Used to have a gallery of mildly salacious 'private' images for special PoF occasions, but not any more. Once I realized those pictures could be immortalized or even worse, shared - in the recycle bin.

| Have you Started an Odd Profile Photo Collection?? Posted: 8/16/2009 11:09:27 AM | | I don't really have means of transferring photos much anymore. Maybe I can have former SIL make another CD out of old photos. I save my son's to a computer and transfer to MSN. No real categories. I never thought of that. | |

| Have you Started an Odd Profile Photo Collection?? Posted: 8/16/2009 9:25:18 PM | I don't have a photo collection, but I belong to a facebook group of women I met on another site. Our group has a thread where we post ridiculous profiles of men who have contacted us or show up as matches. We lol at them all day long.
Let me be clear, not genuine guys who we just don't feel a match with, but the fat guys with bad backs looking for younger women, the sex trawlers, the married guys, stuff like that.
