| Realtek HD Audio Manager HELP! Posted: 8/14/2009 5:17:24 PM | | it is built into my windows. and i read that if i uninstalled it i would require a windows re-install | |
|
| Realtek HD Audio Manager HELP! Posted: 8/14/2009 5:56:43 PM | | Well I dunno where you read that but that's incorrect. The drivers that you are talking about are the WDDM drivers, that came with windows natively, but those drivers are basic sound drivers that don't have those functions built in to allow you to adjust the panel anyhow and even if you uninstall them they will just reapper again and reinstall themselves after you reboot, but that's not the problem. The problem is with your Realtek 3rd party sound drivers you have installed because those drivers are the offical reatek drivers that has those functions to allow you to adjust the front and back panel etc... I also have a Realtek HD audio sound card and I know exactly what you are talking about. You got to download the Realtek sound drivers from their site that I listed above first and then you have to uninstall the 3rd party Realtek sound drivers drivers from "Add And Remove Programs" in Windows XP or "Programs and Features" in Windows Vista in the control panel. Then install the new drivers after you uninstalled the old ones. After that everything should work fine again. | |

| Realtek HD Audio Manager HELP! Posted: 8/14/2009 10:04:06 PM | In the realtek audio manager what is checked as the defualt "digital out" or "speakers"?
in the "device advanced settings" at the upper right corner in the realtek audio manager is the following checked?
Mute rear output device when front headphones are plugged in.
Tie up same time of input jacks i.e. line in or microphone as an input device.
One more thing and you might have already done this but have you tried unplugging and replugging back in the devices that are connected to your sound inputs?

| Realtek HD Audio Manager HELP! Posted: 8/15/2009 5:49:17 AM | | punch your brother in the arm really hard, buy a new soundcard, and go from there. OR, find a friend who works in I.T. and he can fix it less then 30 seconds. | |

| Realtek HD Audio Manager HELP! Posted: 8/15/2009 2:51:19 PM | Realtek HD audio is a joke.....this business of having three plugs do 9 functions is a joke. I agree with what someone else said, buy a new soundcard...my advice..buy a *REAL* sound card.
For windows XP SP3, you need to completely uninstall the audio manager and realtek drivers. Reboot the PC. If it doesn't ask you for drivers, well, don't freak out yet. It's possible Windows took a dive or the hardware took a dive.
If it prompts you for drivers, go ahead and install the driver package then reboot. It SHOULD be working.
If it's not, read this page: http://www.ditii.com/2008/01/04/windows-xp-sp3-rc-hd-audio-fix/ - I had to do this once.
If all else fails...it's seriously possibility you need to reinstall.
|
| Realtek HD Audio Manager HELP! Posted: 8/15/2009 3:34:48 PM | | I guess if all else fails you could try a system restore to the point where it was working and see if that works. If not then I agree with the poster above you might have to reinstall windows if you have no idea what he did. | |

| Realtek HD Audio Manager HELP! Posted: 8/15/2009 4:29:11 PM | | and i dont have a sound card from what i can see.... realtek was built into my motherboard....... i have Acer Aspire with windows vista.. | |
|
| Realtek HD Audio Manager HELP! Posted: 8/15/2009 4:55:38 PM | At this point if you just bought this pc depending upon when you bought it, most retail stores if that's where you bought it from offer a 14 day return policy, but if it's beyond 14 day return peroid after you bought it, then it will be covered under Acer for at least a year and you may have to ship it back to them and have them replace the motherboard. If reformatting the pc doesn't work then it def sounds like a hardware failure.
Or if you are out of warrenttee you can buy another micro atx motherboard from sites like newegg and throw in another motherboard fairly cheap or buy sound card.
What is the model of your Acer?
|
| Realtek HD Audio Manager HELP! Posted: 8/15/2009 5:16:20 PM | Acer Aspire AM1100-E1304A
AMD Athlon 4400+ 64x2 Dual Core Processor 2GB DDR2 Memory 320GB SATA Hard Disc SuperMulti Drive ATI Raedon Graphics
bought it about a year ago.. not covered by any warranty anymore......
|
| Realtek HD Audio Manager HELP! Posted: 8/15/2009 5:54:52 PM | If reformatting doesn't work then it's mostlikely your motherboard. Looking at the specs on your motherboard it looks like Acer threw in a cheap AM2 motherboard in that pc. So your next option is to throw in a sound card or buy a new motherboard and i'd prob buy a new motherboard if I was you over buying a sound card. By the time you buy a new sound card you could buy a new motherboard for the same price or for just a little more that has a lot better technology built into it then your current motherboard has in it.
Depending upon what you want to spend AMD has a whole range of compatible motherboards that you can use with your current system.
BIOSTAR A785GE AM3/AM2+/AM2 AMD 785G Micro ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail
$79.99 Canadian
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138156
This is prob the best motherboard for your buck. It has the new integrated ATI Radeon 4200 HD which will be able to handle Blue Ray movies with ease if you decide to throw in a Blu-Ray Rom later on. It also has an HDMI port along with a standard VGA port for full 1080p support. It’s compatible with all the AMD AM2/AM2+ dual core, triple core and quad core processors and even compatible with the new AM3 dual core, triple core and quad core processors as well. So you have a wide range of CPU upgradeability if you ever decide to upgrade your processor later on with this motherboard. You will be able to upgrade up to 8 GB of DDR2 1066 RAM if you decide later on you need more ram, which is a good amount of ram upgradability that should suit you for a while to come. Lastly this motherboard has some decent overclocking abilty. So if you ever decide to overclock your processor in the future you have that option.

| Realtek HD Audio Manager HELP! Posted: 8/16/2009 10:02:19 PM | | You will mostlikely need a new case considering your case maybe too small to support a regular sized ATX motherboard, which is why I picked a Micro ATX motherboard instead. Plus the board that you are looking at seems to be way too much and overpriced for the current specs you are going to use, unless you are planning to build a completely new gaming system. | |

| Realtek HD Audio Manager HELP! Posted: 8/17/2009 4:44:53 PM | why would anyone want to reformat over onboard sound ?
Simple if nothing else works then reformatting would be the last resort before having to buy a new motherboard or sound card, because if refortmatting doesn't fix it then it's most def a hardware failure then.

| Realtek HD Audio Manager HELP! Posted: 8/17/2009 10:27:59 PM | | So i will assume that you have looked in the device manager for yellow question marks and or exclamation marks, maybe pop the side off your computer and see what you have for a board in there and go look up that board on the mfg website for the latest sound drivers available, the realtek site should be fine but then you never know.It just sounds funny that it used to work and now it doesnt, it could be something really simple yet. Poat the brand and model of your board and maybe that might shed some light on the subject. I have had 3 different version of boards with realtek audio and navigating around in the realtek control panel is not the easiest either. I had a brandnew asus board that the audio didnt work right out of the box, and lastly if you computer suits you and you dont want to be buying everything all new again, you could just add a sound card to the board you have and run it till it drops again, anyways post the mfg and the model of the board , it will be wrote on the board as you open the case, be sure to get all the numbers and letters eg ASUS P5Q-XXX | |
