I would think this is subjective to every individual. You are invited to a party that will be attended by many fascinating people you’ve never met. For example a singles event, would you want to go if you had to go by yourself? Or would you bring some of your friends? Would you bring a friend who is the opposite sex with you? | |

It is subjective to every individual. That's what makes me wonder why you posted on "ask a girl".
If I was "single" and was invited to a party with many fascinating people....a singles get together...and I brought a member of the opposite sex. How are they going to know you are not "together"? They don't know you. Does that not defeat the purpose?
Also, what are the dynamics with the person that invited you? Single member of opposite sex.....maybe interest. Member of opposite sex....potential tag along. | |

I'd probably have no problem going to a party by myself.
... but... it does depend on the party really. A singles mingles thing... I would not go to at all. Not even with a friend. | |

If I didn't know them all too well, I generally wont throw myself into a situation with a bunch of people drinking that I don't know... Seems like a bad idea too me, but I might be a little more cautious then most. So I would of course bring a friend along with me. If I knew the person who invited me well though, then I'd have no issue going by myself. | |

I agree. I'd avoid a singles oriented party too - mainly because I like to pick and choose who I talk to, and too many would assume I was an easy target just for being there. They'd also assume I was there looking for a date, and that's not really the case, so it's best not to confuse things by showing up. | |

Bring an opposite sex friend only if we stay on opposite sides of the room so it's just like being on my own anyway! | |

I go eat dinner alone, I shop alone, movies, whatever. I have gone to partiy that personal friends have had and I drive myself there and drive myself home. I am not one of these people that needs "back up" with me to go anywhere. | |
