| The Funny Things You See On The Way To Work .....!
Posted: 8/19/2009 7:26:59 AM | Driving to work this morning; passed a lady drinking coffee, reading a magazine and driving a van down Henderson! Also passed another lady who was wearing a home made rain hat but quite fashionable - it was a safeway plastic bag pulled over her head then rolled all around the edges to make like a rim of a hat and then she had it fastened off to the side with a lovely bow made out of the plastic bag!
My favorite is still always the bus stop people ....... and how they all stand facing the direction of where the bus will be coming from like soldiers lined up. Makes me giggle. You don't have to "watch" for the bus" - he won't miss you, he can see you, and he will stop. Relax people - enjoy the trees, people watch or read a magazine while you're waiting!!! 
How's your trip to work in the mornings? Or during any other excursion you make daily. Anything interesting?

Posted: 8/20/2009 1:31:48 PM | Here's a good one. Whipped home at lunch to pee the pup. Entered the gates of hell construction at Henderson and Hespler.
Saw this very old man in a bright wind breaker holding a bus stop sign out front of the construction area. Thot must be that new senior employment program they have. But man the poor guy must have been at least 135 years old!!! Now don't get me wrong, the guy looked happy as a pig in shit, big smile on his face as he stood holding that sign. Thot surely they must have an age restriction even on the seniors employment projects. And wondered why he had to stand and "hold" the sign when it was temporarily set up in one of those sand bags?
Then the blonde lite came on .............. ohhhhhhhhh ........ he must be WAITING FOR THE BUS ....... and holding the sign, not really "holding" the sign ....... hahaha
50 ways to entertain myself while wading thru construction ............ lol

Posted: 8/23/2009 6:02:00 AM | Well,not on the way to work,but a couple of things that I saw last year in Estevan at the end of the day while heading back to camp. The road put to one job passed by a golf course. Once we were passing by just as a golfer was teeing off. Upon his swing the ball traveled off on a 45 degree angle to the right,and suddenly a bright yellow-handled golf club was twirling through the air to the left. We chuckled all the way back to camp.
The other was another evening when we had to detour and drove along beside the rail yards. A Loader rigged up as a forklift was unloading a quantity of oil pipe,and Iguess the operator bit off a little more than he could chew. He lifted the load of pipe,backed up,and suddenly the pipe hit the ground as the forklift's rear wheels rose 5 feet in the air. The operator quickly dropped the load which caused the back wheels to drop just as fast as they had risen,and all the piping rolled across the ground. I know you had to be there,but my boss and I were still laughing about it 2 days later. | |

haha at least he had the sense to lower the forks.
We had to unload a 45 gallon drum of anhydrous knives and had a 18 0r 19 year old running an articulating wheel loader but just a wee one. It could lift about half a pallet of chemical so i knew it was no match for the drum and told the little guy so. Well he didn't want to help transfer half those knives onto a pallet and being raised on a farm as well as a teen knew more about machinery than i ever could and thus proceeded to lift and pull the drum off the truck. soon as it cleared the truck he started telling us how it was no problem when down the forks went and up his arse end went. All he could think to do was turn the stearing wheel back and forth causing the backend of the loader to pivot side to side causing the battery (not properly secured) to hang off the side of the loader and flail around as he turned the stearing wheel. I was eventually able to calm him enough to explain that my telling him to lower the forks did not mean i wanted the forks to go into the ground but that the loader would come down and level out. oh ya work can be funny stuff.
One of the strangest things i think i've seen is a deer running accross a field of alfalfa and two bald eagles attacking it's rump. It looked like a yearling, not very big and they repeatedly attacked it. Don't know if they killed it eventually or not. I had work to attend to. | |

Several zombie-like characters strolling the streets. Turned out it was only the the drunks from the night before being released from the drunk tank at 75 Martha Street.  | |

I see the same thing going to and from work almost daily myself!
I often drive past Siloam Mission on Princess St and have to watch out for the homeless darting across the street. Well they don't really "dart" they more like shuffle.
On a separate note.
Has anyone else noticed that whomever painted the lines on Princess St must have been intoxicated? Take a drive down Princess and check out the lines! Too funny!

Posted: 8/30/2009 5:58:57 AM | Luv it when I see folks at the bus stop with their "laminated work name tag" already leashed around their neck (in case you forget who you are and where you work ???) .... or the folks standing at the bus in their complete Sobey's/Safeway/Wal-Mart attire (the keener who can't put that smock on when they get to work because they want to LEAP into action the minute they get in that door!!!) ....
and always luv the dude walking around a mall, Safeway or wherever with his phone headset stuck in his ear 24/7 - just in case he gets that "urgent" call ..... trust me dude - you're not THAT important and you look ridiculous...lol
Kay I'm done ..... hahaha

Posted: 8/31/2009 8:57:54 AM | Just realized this morning - you know when you see those little old couples driving those big-ass vehicles and the woman is driving while hubby sits in the front passenger seat smiling. We assume it's because he can no longer see or hear properly so his wife has stepped up to the plate and taken over the driving.
I don't think he's NOT driving any longer because he can't see or hear - it's becuse he's now got free reign to oggle all the pretty women while drooling on the window .............. eeeeeeeeewwwwwwwww..................

But it's those who pull up beside you giving you that "hey baby how you doin' look" and are salivating over the 20 year olds in their little summer frocks thinking they even have a chance .....lol ..... they keep driving along and you can't help but get hit in the eye with that huge bald spot on the back of their head when the sun hits it almost blinding you!
It's all yummy to have the toys but remember, it still is what it is and you're still old ..............

In the mornings my husband would drive by there, he was driving the school bus and one morning he said he would shove in a cassette to get some music going. He got a surprise when he went in and saw a fat lady passed out on the floor, needless to say he quickly changed his mind about shoving it in on the way to work. lol | |
