What if mister/misses right smokes?
Posted: 8/19/2009 12:44:41 PM
First let me state that I know this is a losing argument and that smoking is not healthy blah, blah, blah… I’m like everyone else who smokes and will quit someday…

Having said that, this is for all of you who are looking for mister or misses right but won’t allow a message be sent to you from them because he/she smokes… Interesting conundrum wouldn’t you say? Are you hoping to run into him/her at the mall or grocery store? Think about it, You strike up a conversation with someone they say everything you are wanting to hear, you get that feeling in your gut that you had when you met the previous mister/misses right. You know what I mean ;) and then it happens they say “I’ll be right back I’m gonna go have a smoke.” In real life what do you do? Tell them, I’m sorry but you smoke and I’m no longer going to talk to you or do you go with what your gut says and continue getting to know the person?

Am I missing something here?
Maybe POF should have a “don’t let women who fart in the tub” message me…
Don’t get me wrong I would love to talk with a woman that does that… j/k lol!

Peace

No time like the present. You might miss out on your Ms Right if you wait too long.

I don’t see it as prejudice, it’s just personal preference. There’s no doubt in my mind that my mother choosing to smoke took a minimum of ten years off of her life. If you go through hell looking for “The One”, you’ll want them to be around a long time.

Well, who is to say that I would 'never meet' that person because of my decision? Besides you?

I despise smoking; it's a nasty, expensive and dangerous habit. I have had a number of friends and family die of lung and throat cancers. It has devastated their family and friends lives and some the families finances have also taken a hit because their insurance didn't cover all the cost of treatment. It ages one, and the second hand smoke is a deadly as smoking itself. How could one live with ones self know that they might have been the cause of a family members cancer? It makes a house almost impossible to sell. Your clothes and breath reck.

Oh, but wait you already know that, so you have said, and it is not about you it is ? It is about all of us prejudiced, discriminatory, intolerant. bigoted, unfair women out there that will not allow you to contact us, now isn't it?

It is indeed interesting, that I should choose to avoid such heartbreak, I am such a silly, silly girl.

Go sell your poor, poor pitiful me story walking oh yeah, light 'em if you got 'em

Gotcha... I already admitted that I am on the losing side of the "Smoking" argument... That's not my point. Fate sends you people that come and go in your life why would you limit yourself to only those that fart or dont fart in the tub?

I think it is prejudice... If you were to walk by a person not of your race and hold your nose or make a disgusted face...Wouldn't that be showing prejudice?

I agree with that. That is why I don’t restrict smokers from emailing me, but I doubt I would date a smoker (maybe Salma Hayek if she smoked, but I haven't seen her profile on here yet)

If I smeared nuclear waste on myself ( thinking it was good for my skin) and people refused to come near me, would they be prejudice?

The total belief in fate is placing yourself in a position of weakness, submitting to whatever comes your way, of not having choices, not accepting control or the ramifications of our choices in life. We have the choice, we have what is called free will, dare to take control of your life and actions.

Yes, now I see how it is with you, it is not about the smoking or farting in tubs, this is all about you and what you feel you deserve.

wikipedia...
A prejudice is an implicitly held belief, often about a group of people. Race, economic class, gender or sex, ethnicity, sexual orientation, age, and religion are other common subjects of prejudice. It can be used to characterize beliefs about other things as well, including "any unreasonable attitude that is unusually resistant to rational influence."[1]

I think my observation was correct...

I won't date a smoker...it's kind of like licking an ashtray.

I've never licked an ashtry so I'll have to take your word for it.

Thanks for your input...

iamoneman: Would you date someone who has terrible body odor? If your answer is no, then you too would be considered prejudice. I, too, prefer not to date a smoker. I can't stand the taste nor smell of cigarette smoke, and I do not classify that as being prejudice... just my preference.

You beat me to it Denarama! I have question. What's the difference between being so called prejudice and being "picky"? He says he's picky, so how's that any different than those of us who choose to be picky and not date a smoker?

Okay ladies... What I don't do is go around degrading 46 yr old women or those that are not spicy or intelligent. I still treat them with the same respect as I would any other human being... I don't suggest that they start dating METH addicts or suggest they lick ashtrays...

You see?

I started this thread to see what type of personality traits was associated with this question and I have my answer… So I will not be monitoring this post anymore… If you wish to continue this conversation, send me a message. The only blocks I have is you must live in the USA (I don’t speak a foreign language which would produce a communication bearer) and that you are not married. And yes that probably is prejudice but I can accept that.

Thanks again for your input.
