Not just the good but also the bad. I want to have a 180 degree view. So please anyone from there or a visitor let me know how it is..............thank you! | |

Massachusetts and New England as a whole (RI, CT, VT, NH, ME and MA) are outstanding places. I think Massachusetts gets a bad rap on it's people first off; 99% of the people are very nice. In Massachusetts you have both the sea shore and out west the mountains. There is incredible history here, great parks, lakes, and if you're in Boston the transportation system is 2nd to none. Yes, it's expensive to live here. I look at it this way as well, I not only get Massachusetts, but the rest of New England too. I love going up to NH and Maine, I haven't spent much time in Vermont sad to say. North, Central Connecticut is very nice. Rhode Island has Newport and it's mansions.
Steven hit the traffic comment on the head, if you're commuting it can be a nightmare. But if you can flex your schedule, start work from home and go to the office after 9AM you can mitigate some of that. I've lived roughly 1/2 my life in the Boston Metro area; and love it here. It's got all of the best to offer in my opinion.
Good luck!

| A question about living in MA Posted: 10/18/2009 10:35:08 PM | hello, i have lived in ma my whole life. born and raised haha
it is like anywhere else.. goods and bad.
goods: it is beautiful and historic. you have a definite four seasons, and the fall is beautiful. the educational institutions are some of the best in the country. new england is relatively small and in mass its pretty easy to get to whatever you need. bads: the winters are harsh with lots of snow and its cold. new england is known for depression because for most of the year, it is cloudy and overcast. the summers are short. the cost of living is very high (but minimum wage is higher as well) we have lonnngg winters and with the cost of oil- heating a house is a killer! if you are a conservative- massachusetts is one of the most liberal states in the country so you will not be cool with the politics.
oh there is so much more! in my opinion... i cant wait to move away from here to somewhere warm! BUT, i do love my small country hometown that is so classic new england.. and whenever i leave, i breathe a sigh of relief to return. :)
good luck! | |
