| | Would you attend a Speed Dating event?Page 1 of 1 | I have been thinking.... what if there was a plenty of fish speed dating event?!
I started to wonder if anyone would attend, where it would be held, and how often. Then I figured that is getting ahead of myself. First, I need to find out if there is an interest in even HAVING this type of event.
Please post a reply saying if that is something you would do. It would, of course, be open to all ages, non-members are welcome, and be a lot of fun! The responses to this forum will determine if the event is planned and scheduled!!!!!!!!!!!!

| Would you attend a Speed Dating event? Posted: 8/20/2009 5:42:26 AM | Carrie darlin,
On the odd chance I am able to get a date, it is usually a speed date in and of itself as the poor woman is trying to get out of there just as quickly as possible.
Fortunately for me I do not get that many dates. lol

| Would you attend a Speed Dating event? Posted: 8/20/2009 8:45:06 AM | What if you held a speed dating event at the same venue as but just before a regularly-held event? That way the speed dating can happen, and if there are any sparks or interests to pursue, they can spend time getting to know each other at the party event?
You might get more attendance if the speed dating thing is held in conjunction with a regularly-held and well-attended event that people are planning to go to anyway.
Just a thought. | |

I am looking to see if there is any interrest from people that normally don't go to events.... and maybe some of the crowd around my age. | Would you attend a Speed Dating event? Posted: 8/22/2009 7:51:28 PM | I would attend a speed dating event if I needed to. I don't need to since I have you but it would still be a fun event. I am sure that 25 thru 40 would be interested in that. The idea of before an event would be alright. But maybe the event can be on its own... Don't want too many fun events at the same place and same time!?

| Would you attend a Speed Dating event? Posted: 8/23/2009 4:09:32 AM | I've attended Christian Speed Dating in SC; it was fun, and there was a spaghetti supper for $5.00 per person in association with it. Everyone who wanted to come brought $10.00 to attend the speeddating and NOT contribute to a potluck sphaghetti meal, OR brought $5.00 to pay for the site for the speeddating AND brought a salad or pasta and sauce or a 2 liter or dessert to share.
The matches were emailed within a week to those that matched each other; it was FUN and I've done it 3x and would GLADLY do it again. Mind you, I'd make sure it was an alcohol free event, so as to have SOME assurrance that folks are relatively aware and safe to be around, who come.
Thanks for bringing this topic up; speeddating in Christian circles in the South is fairly common, and I'm returning from SC to the Midwest after nearly 20 years. I've not had any idea how to meet singles Over 40 while coming home; this might be a fun idea.

| Would you attend a Speed Dating event? Posted: 8/24/2009 4:35:11 PM | I would be interested. However, I don't think you would be able to get many participants from the nursing homes for me to meet. It seems my train has already left the station a few years back. | |

| Would you attend a Speed Dating event? Posted: 8/24/2009 6:25:48 PM | Speed dating on POF is defined as arriving late and running out as fast as you can. The more speed....well you get the picture? Really? Speed dating? That is when two people meet, fall in love and run away from one another as fast as they can? | |

| Would you attend a Speed Dating event? Posted: 8/25/2009 3:32:38 PM | | Speed dating, sure, why not, here in Dayton everything is real slow, jobs, dating, jobs, jobs, etc, so maybe something like this would liven up this city. It seems to be dying fast :( | |

| Would you attend a Speed Dating event? Posted: 8/26/2009 4:27:05 AM | Ok... so I am getting mixed reviews about the speed dating... I hope to have it though!? If you have a friend that has an opinion, ask them to add to the forum. I'm thinking this would be probably be once a month and is open to all ages.
I could break it into different events based on age if that sounds good. Have over 40 and under 40... Any thoughts on that?

| Would you attend a Speed Dating event? Posted: 8/26/2009 6:40:13 PM | I wouldn't restrict... I would only suggest. I know that you cannot restrict the events from the site. I don't want to restrict the event either. I was just thinking out loud and seeing the other thoughts around that. | |

| Would you attend a Speed Dating event? Posted: 8/29/2009 4:40:34 AM | Thats an interesting idea!
I'd like to hear where everyone would think would be the best venue for a POF speed dating event? Carrie, are you thinking of hosting one?
|
| Would you attend a Speed Dating event? Posted: 8/29/2009 8:27:05 AM | Carrie, are you thinking of hosting one? Yes I am if there is interest. I was thinking around Columbus. I was told the Alumni room would be good, offered to have it before the event at Gordy's and the Stadium, but might want to try to have it as a separtate event if it works out.
What are you thoughts ImpulsV?

| Would you attend a Speed Dating event? Posted: 8/29/2009 12:59:12 PM | | im all for the separate event thing...again I have done speed dating at the Alumni Club and I agree that Gordys would be a great place too. I can help you facilitate this...but of course i would want to participate..tee hee hee | |

| Would you attend a Speed Dating event? Posted: 9/2/2009 3:32:06 PM | I can't handle one guy at a time and you want me to do multiple in one night? LOL
If we only get 3 minutes per man then I'm in trouble takes me longer than that to decide what I'm gonna say so I don't think this will work for me.
|
| Would you attend a Speed Dating event? Posted: 9/3/2009 10:23:24 AM | Geez, OPie...most people can't date very well in normal time. Now you want to put the stress of making them try to be quick-witted and personable and do all that in 5 minutes before they're off to their next date? And what about this unspoken law of women...that once you find a guy interesting no other woman is to even consider laying eyes on him...EVER!
Of course...if the end result of speed dating was girls mud-wrestling over a guy...hmmmmm, I can bring a bucket of water just to see what happens.
