| All dudes on login page [LOCKED THREAD] Posted: 8/21/2009 3:52:14 PM | So have I turned gay and POF is trying to out me or something? The login page (www.plentyoffish.com) used to show me profiles of women in Southern NH who are online. This week is is instead showing me lists of GUYS online in New York. Is the site trying to tell me something?
I checked my profile and all the info there is correct. I have tried both Firefox and IE so I am ruling out the browser as the cause. I can understand the IP address lookup might not be so accurate but the gender thing is definitely wrong.
Anybody else see that problem of have any ideas how to fix it. Is it just another POF quirk/bug/glitch? It's a minor annoyance but I kinda liked seeing who is online before I logged in. Not so much any more.

That's the funniest thing I read here EVER!

Now I see a list of local guys instead of NY gentlemen. Unfortunately POF still thinks I am a female and I can't figure out how to reset that. Oh well... I guess it's not that important, more annoying than anything.

When I am on the forums, not logged in, the row of profiles at the top are now all men. This started occurring after the day or two when there were no profiles showing across the top of the page when not logged in.
I realize that with me growing my hair out, from certain angles, depending on how the sunlight hits me when my back is turned, how far I am from you and how good your eyesight is, I might possibly, somewhat, maybe, if you squint hard enough, be mistaken for one of the female persuasion, but is that any reason to justify having only male profiles appear across the top of forums?
It's obviously a flip of the bit in the database so if the OP's problem is corrected, I'm certain mine, and others who are having the same issue, will be corrected as well.

FYI I get all women when not logged in.
Moderators will have limited understanding of how new features work. I(admin) create and test new features in a matter of hours and constantly tweak things to see how they work. Many new features will be in a constant state of flux. Should a feature not enhance the site it will be removed.
Admin is obviously fiddling with things, he does that, then he un-fiddles with things, he does that too.
Generally he will start a thread about any major changes, he hasn't, so based upon experience he is fiddling.
In the grand scheme of things these minor changes do not really have any adverse effect on using the site.
