| Define AVERAGE body type Posted: 8/21/2009 7:24:30 PM | | Okay, I'm looking at profiles and I see girls who list their body type as "average" and then I do a double-take at their photos and they look FAT. Big gut ... muffin top ... large butt. Could someone please clarify what average should be? | |

| Define AVERAGE body type Posted: 8/21/2009 7:31:29 PM | Oh mercy, I don't know.......
Can't you just look at the pictures and judge for yourself?
Since Admin has taken off the last 5 forum posts from the bottom of profiles perhaps Big Fish can add more body types to the list.
Shouldn't take up that much bandwidth for all the visually challenged among 'um.
Just sayin' | |

| Define AVERAGE body type Posted: 8/21/2009 7:32:09 PM | well according to what I have read online the new "average" is size 12-16 or something ridiculous. That is not necessarily fat, but when I was size 16 i put myself in the category of voluptuous or a little extra weight. I am size 12 now and consider myself average. I would however like to be size 8 which I guess is skinny...i dont know.. ANyways, some women may think they are average, and maybe they are. If you think she is fat, then she is fat. The next guy may think she is average. | |

| Define AVERAGE body type Posted: 8/21/2009 7:35:48 PM | Average BMI 19.1 - 25.8
I am 24.2, which means I look smokin' in tight jean and high heels, but could still stand to lose 5 or 10 pounds.
The other way to judge average is to stand at the front door of Walmart. Scary stuff dude.
Edit; size 8 | |

| Define AVERAGE body type Posted: 8/21/2009 7:36:04 PM | This has been so overdone. The average woman's size in the U.S. is 14. Now, depending on how tall she is, she could be fat or slim. Most American women are overweight. Therefore many overweight women figure they are considered average. Personally, I consider average as height/weight proportionate. Being I am overweight, I define myself as rubenesque. More than a few extra pounds but not BBW or morbidly obese. Go by their photos and forget the rhetoric. If you don't like her size in her photos, you are not going to like her size in person.
BTW, men do the same thing. You just aren't use to checking out the guys photos. You ought to see what some consider 'Athletic' or 'A few extra pounds'. It's pretty amusing also.

| Define AVERAGE body type Posted: 8/21/2009 7:36:37 PM | | If you don't like a photo, click Next...there are plenty of men with double, triple chins who think they are athletic on here too. Just be thankful that people have photos so that you can make an informed decision. No need to start a thread about it... | |

| Define AVERAGE body type Posted: 8/21/2009 7:40:29 PM | This topic has been discussed and debated so much... it's all relative. Average to one person is fat to another, etc., etc.
What if there were just TWO categories under body type? THIN and NOT THIN Would that work for you?

| Define AVERAGE body type Posted: 8/21/2009 7:41:28 PM | haha... good question!
average = could be anything... from seriously overweight to nice and thin!
recently chatted with a young women who stated she was average... after sending me a few pics, she was far from average... gorgeous thin rock solid body! lol... lucky me. anyways, asked why she'd put average... "i dunno, guess i didn't want all the attention and sicko emails" Others i've seen, way above average. I've seen the same though on the men's side too... however, i doubt guys are putting average if they're thin/buff. You can usually tell by the pics unless they only have a face shot... but even then.
btw... average weight for a women in the US is about 135 pounds. 160-+ for a guy.

| Define AVERAGE body type Posted: 8/21/2009 7:44:44 PM | Wasn't there a thread on this yesterday???
And no...to whatever chick said a size 8 is skinny - no it's not. For an overweight or obese woman, a size 8 is probably skinny in relation to that. A size 8 which I normally wear is not skinny. I'm too curvy to ever be skinny...lol.
And voluptous and curvy are not synonyms for overweight or obese. When did larger women start trying to describe themselves as curvy? Curvy does not mean several rolls of fat. Curvy means an hourglass shape.

| Define AVERAGE body type Posted: 8/21/2009 7:46:23 PM | | Oh..and to whomever wrote the avg weights for an American male and female - unless you are counting babies, those numbers are grossly wrong! LOL. The average American is overweight and obese. 135 and 160 are close to underweight in some people. Those are not the American averages in 2009. | |

True. And some of us are athletic. Now if we could describe ourselves as "fit" instead of athletic some of us fat guys would be stretching the truth. Literally.

LOL... hey, i was trying to be nice. those are probably numbers from the '90s. Average to me would be probably around the 135. I think current BMI averages are more around the 30 levels? OMG! is that possible?? I just calculated that! that would be like a average weight of like 180 pounds if average height is 5.4?? WTF? is that possible?? now that's fat!
OP... i guess average = FAT! really FAT! what the hell is "overweight"?? Yikes!
|
| Define AVERAGE body type Posted: 8/21/2009 8:12:24 PM | Actually, 180 wouldn't be fat on some women. What I consider fat is if you're a size 16 and above and even then, if it's a tall woman, she might be able to carry it off.
Body fat percentage is also a big factor. You could have a woman who is 110 lbs with a high body fat percentage who looks really unhealthy and unattractive. When I was in college, I had my body fat tested and the trainer was shocked it was so high b/c she said that looking at me, she would have thought that I worked out regularly.
So it's all based on the individual and where and how they carry their weight. A white woman who is 5'4 and 140 is probably going to look fatter than a Latina woman who weighs 140.

Maybe if they got some clothes that fit properly they would look smaller.
Those girls could really be average 5'5" size 8 women that put their size 6 jeans in the dryer. That could cause a muffintop. Of course that is unlikely, (that wouldn't cause a rant) but just saying.
|
| Define AVERAGE body type Posted: 8/21/2009 8:47:37 PM | I agree with TXCurlyGirl...a size 8 is not skinny...the only way I would feel a size 8 is skinny is if the woman was very tall...perhaps around 5'11" or more. I'm 5'8" and wear between a 6-8...I am NOT skinny...I have a medium busty hourglass figure...I don't have a double chin, stomach or back fat...but if you met me, you would NEVER say "that woman needs to eat!"
The average American woman IS overweight to obese...we are one of the heaviest nations...no, it's not bashing, it is what it is. As far as the term "average", there are two angles...some women who have the average build of American women will claim this terminology...and some women who have my build will also claim it too.
Years ago, I used a dating service before it had a website. I described my body as "curvy." Every guy I met told me stop using that term, because even though they saw why I used the term, since many American women who were more along the lines of overweight with a stomach and excess weight in some places to BBW tend to use the term, the guys thought people would assume I was a BBW. Actually, one guy who I ended up dating for over a year tended to be attracted to medium to large women...he said he was pleasantly surprised, but because of what he was used to encountering when a woman said she was curvy, he was expecting a woman well over 200 lbs...actually, a lot of women I know here in the NY area who easily weigh 200 lbs or more often refer to themselves as curvy...and these women aren't even as tall as me...
So in the end, only chose women who have clear face and full body photos...and don't be afraid to ask when did they take the photos. We're all adults here and KNOW there are some of us who don't tell the truth...so if a anyone gets offended if you ask for a full body photo, that's a red flag somethings wrong...especially if they have several photos posted from the neck up or if they post the boob photos to trump a not so in shape body...but refuse to pose a full body! And guys have their tricks too!
From that point on, I also started mentioning my height, clothing sizes and sometimes even measurements so a man can get a better idea. I know some women might think it's stupid, but so far, I've yet to meet a man who felt I misrepresented myself as far as body when I give this info. Most men, even if they are not sure, have a female friend or know a guy who does have an idea of what this info means. Hey, if women can post pics of boob shots yet fail to post clear full body shots, then I can be honest and post a full body shot and provide my stats, right!?!
|
| Define AVERAGE body type Posted: 8/21/2009 8:50:08 PM | i don't have full body photos b/c I don't have a tripod and so it would be rather difficult for me to take a full body shot of myself by myself. But if a guy asks me my basic measurements while we are talking on the phone, I don't get offended at all.
So just b/c a woman doesn't have a full body photo doesn't mean she's fat!!!

| Define AVERAGE body type Posted: 8/21/2009 8:50:38 PM | | my only thought on this is really when i look around people are getting bigger so if the average women is about my size i say im average .... i dont think im fat i dont think im skinny either i mean size 0 isnt really average anymore ... my question is do you get out much or are you a shut in? | |

| Define AVERAGE body type Posted: 8/21/2009 8:53:06 PM | Yeah ask when the pics were taken...I did that once and the gal deactivated her account that day....It has gotten to the point that if somebody does the online enough and knows about the issues people pull, they just date the pictures, anyway... | |
|
| Define AVERAGE body type Posted: 8/21/2009 8:56:22 PM | Scientific studies have shown that Average Body Type (ABT) equals two pounds of Weight (W) for every inch of Height (H), plus twenty more pounds give or take 10 to 15 percent, usually give, unless there's either a trick mirror or one party is blinded by love or lust or alcohol.
ABT=2xW/H=20+-10/15%g/t+trick m where B=LLA.
No need to thank me for this info. It's just modern science.
