| Worth a thousand words? Posted: 8/30/2009 7:09:19 AM | How much is a picture worth on the internet in these times? I'd like some input if you don't mind on why people put up the pictures they do of themselves? I have seen some pictures that are so tiny or blurry you can't see the person never mind their face. What the heck is up with going onto a dating site and posting a picture wearing a wedding dress? Or how do you know which woman it is that you are supposed to be looking at when there is more than one?
Just wondering why some many put up the pictures that they do? Is it that difficult in this day and age to post a decent picture of yourself on the net or are people just not putting any effort into it?

| Worth a thousand words? Posted: 8/30/2009 8:12:29 AM | It may be that a lot of people don't have many pictures of themselves without other people in them or don't have them electronically. I am sure there are also those who aren't as computer savvy and aren't comfortable editing the pics they do have available.
Or maybe they just don't want anyone to see who they are.

| Worth a thousand words? Posted: 9/1/2009 10:09:52 PM | There is a woman on this site who has on her profile a picture of her obviously elderly parents holding hands. If there is one picture on this site that is worth a thousand words, it is likely that one.
I don't know her or her parents, but the impression I get from the picture is that they are two individuals who have been married for decades and yet still hold hands like teenage sweethearts. The diference, of course, is that they are so much older and wiser and yet obviously still in love.
I think it is an amazingly wonderful picture and I applaud her for putting it on her profile. I think it speaks volumes for what she seeks on this site. I wish her well in her search.
I am envious of her parents.

Well let me see, at first it was difficult partially because i had absolutely no idea how to do it and also i wasn't sure i wanted to. After all how pathetic do you have to be to go eyeballing wimmen on the internet? Then to post a picture of yourself to boot! What if someone recognizes you? Well i got (mostly) past those two hurdles then got to thinking i keep changing my appearance so what is the real me? Thus i have a few posted and they are all different. Lastly no i am not putting any effort into it at all. It's not supposed to be work it's a pastime. sofar

| Worth a thousand words? Posted: 9/16/2009 5:10:04 AM | I don't go "eyeballing" women, but if I am going to contact someone I would like to see a picture of them. I have had a few experiences in the past where the woman I met was NOT the woman I was chatting with. Either the picture was not of them or it was them in the past.
An embarrassing one was meeting for the first time and I did not recognize her. She said "Its me Carrie!" and my only response was "No its not!" because she had used a photo from when she was 17... Now I'm not shallow, but if I am meeting someone that I met online I would like to meet that woman!

Hope you didn't think i was directing that remark at you. I was stating my train of thought when i started into this thing. That is what i was thinking people would think of me.

That is expected isn't it? I doubt i would recognize anyone from the pictures on here. It could be 5 minutes old and not look like the actual person. My ex didn't recognize a picture of herself one time. Didn't like being teased about it either.

| Worth a thousand words? Posted: 9/17/2009 3:18:31 PM | Main reason being that I have one camera on my phone, no other camera, so any pictures I take are of other things. I only have like a handful of pictures and basically I chose the best.
Seems to be a problem for some girls out there tho :P

| Worth a thousand words? Posted: 10/16/2009 2:54:28 PM | | OK, how about people who use someone else's picture on their profile? Or worse a famous actor/actress' picture as their profile. Today I logged on to find that Kate Beckinsale has apparently also logged onto POF and is single, looking to meet men and who's children are all over 18! | |

| Worth a thousand words? Posted: 10/17/2009 3:40:39 PM | | As far as recent pictures go, I've had a friend snap the shutter and later ask myself 'did she even check the viewfinder; I could have done done a better job, my -evil twin- a comparable one'. I have also used the timer on my digital, running back and forth at least seven times with framing and composition issues. Sometimes ya just gotta settle. | |
