All links to said profile disapeared including PMs and viewed.
I can still find the profile only through google's achiving.
There is no message saying that the account has been deleted by owner or banned for scam/spam.
I'd really like to know how I can tell...
In contact with said person so knowing this, from a third source, might help to decide what my next steps will be.

Posted: 8/31/2009 4:43:05 PM | When you perform a User Search with the exact screen name, if the person has deleted it themselves, you will see a date and timestamp for the deletion. If the site has deleted it, nothing will return in that query.
You should note that a hidden profile will not be visible in this format and will give the impression that it has been site deleted.

Bummer. Nothing shows up when I user search the profile.
The pictures are still on the site. Do these things get deleted as well or kept as achives?
I'm in contact with the girl by email so I'll ask her. Totally getting the feeling of what looks too good to be true probably is. | |

The pictures are still on the site. Do these things get deleted as well or kept as achives? When a profile is deleted, it is deleted in its entirety... pictures and all.
Exactly where are the pictures that you are claiming are on here? You mention Google's cached items, are you sure the pictures are here and not there? | |

Somewhat.
If the user was removed by the system automatically, or manually by the owner, a blank search result will be yielded when you search for them via the User Search, all emails exchanged and profile contents and pics will be removed.
The same result however will be yielded if the person has hid their profile with the exception of email correspondence.
or banned?
is usually in reference to being suspended from the forums, and you won't know this definitively.

If you were email blocked, all sent messages to them will be removed from your outbox and all messages to them by you from their inbox. (they can however continue to email you if they blocked you)

Two types of google results.
- a link to the active profile still on site (unless the profile is hidden)
- a link to google's archive where the link will be followed by a green "cached" link which is not a definitive answer as to whether their profile is still on the site. The cached version will be deleted the next time google tries to archive and the profile isn't retrieved, either because they've hidden it, or it's truly gone from POF

I'd really like to know how I can tell...
The above are the only methods upon which to draw any conclusions from.
