SAN DIEGO, CA: Channel 12 News in San Diego is reporting that authorities in San Diego County have confirmed that the remains of several bodies have been unearthed in the backyard garden of a coastal San Diego home on Wednesday.
Authorities found the bodies after an anonymous tip led them to the location.
For much of the day Sunday, neighbors tried to catch a glimpse of what was going on as a number of detectives were digging in what appears to be a vegetable garden of the home, located just off Interstate 5.
Then around 9 p.m., they watched as several body bags were rolled out on stretchers from behind the home. Those body bags were then driven away by San Diego coroners.
"I thought there was just one. I was surprised to see they kept bringing them out," said neighbor Josephine Wagacknyk.
After witnessing the disturbing scene, dozens of neighbors were left with even more questions.
But the one thing that was obvious to everyone Sunday night was a strong foul odor which seemed to emanate from the home.
"The stench. [It's a] real bad smell. If you've never been around a dead dog or something, then you wouldn't know. But I've been around dead animals so I know it's pretty bad," said Wagacknyk.
Although police aren't releasing the name of the owner of the home, neighbors tell Channel 12 News that the suspect spends much of his time working in the vegetable garden while listening to heavy metal music.
Upon further investigation, authorities found a CD which contained a song titled "A Body Farm" in the suspect's home; a song from an album that was released by local San Diego heavy metal band 'Cattle Decapitation'. Authorities are looking into this tragedy as being a possible "copycat crime" based on the band's disturbing music and lyrics.
Channel 12 News attempted to contact the band, but the band's representatives declined to comment.
The sheriff's office isn't expected to release the victims names until the coroner finishes the identification process and the next of kin are notified which is expected to be lengthy due to the advanced state of decomposition the bodies were in.

| Death Metal Band's Lyrics Tied To Killings Posted: 8/31/2009 6:37:59 PM | Don't most serial killers listen to classical music? They should ban that too. Oh! Oh! And don't forget Elvis. That's devil music...
Crazy people are crazy. People try to make sense of it because they don't understand - but they are not meant to understand. Crazy people are crazy.
Is it really that shocking that a violent person is attracted to violent music? The cause is the crazy, the effect is the taste in music. Not the other way around.

| Death Metal Band's Lyrics Tied To Killings Posted: 9/1/2009 11:02:00 AM | most death metal is about things that have already happened, there is nothing subliminal about it. its not music that kill people, its people who kill people. the authorities/families of victims, have a finger to point and thats the problem. there is nothing ridiculous about it. its the PEOPLE who are ridiculous. | |

| Death Metal Band's Lyrics Tied To Killings Posted: 9/1/2009 3:09:50 PM | | Is music telling us to kill now?? Cause as someone who listens to metal, I have yet to kill anyone....although come to think of it.....If anything metal releases tension not causes one to off their family. If someone is unhappy, and going to kill then it was coming a long time before listening to any song | |

| Death Metal Band's Lyrics Tied To Killings Posted: 9/1/2009 6:39:59 PM | I don’t listen to Death Metal but do listen to other non-mainstream genres (Punk, Screamo, Hardcore). There are some sick f***ks in this world and to blame music, video games, books, the internet as the source of their madness is bullsh*t.
People need to assume personal responsibility for their freakin lives and stop blaming their shortcomings on everything but their lame ass selves.
|
| Death Metal Band's Lyrics Tied To Killings Posted: 9/1/2009 7:34:08 PM | | Lemmy Kilmister of Motorhead fame basically said it best when he stated that if one person listened to a metal album, did something like this, and people tried to place blame on the metal album, one needs to think about all of the people who bought the album and didn't do anything like this. | |
|
| Death Metal Band's Lyrics Tied To Killings Posted: 9/1/2009 7:42:22 PM | People have been trying to blame bad things on music forever though, look what they did to snyder from twisted sister, or that people tried to blame a school shooting on the basketball diaries. I think the problem, lies not with the music, and movies but with the parents lack of supervision, and attention to their children. | |
|
| Death Metal Band's Lyrics Tied To Killings Posted: 9/2/2009 12:27:08 PM | People just like to have someone other than themselves or the person committing the crimes to blame.
Look at the blame placed on Marilyn Manson after the Columbine shootings. I think he responded well by saying (in Rolling Stone) “[w]hen it comes down to who’s to blame for the high school murders in Littleton, Colorado, throw a rock and you’ll hit someone who’s guilty. … when these tragedies happen, most people don’t really care any more than they would about the season finale of Friends or The Real World.”
A crazy person will draw crazy ideas from the media around them, including the music they listen to. Stable people will simply listen to the music. Are we supposed to deny everyone the music they want to hear for the sake of a few psychos? While we're at it why don't we make children wear helmets and earplugs 24/7 and boycot anything controversial. You never know who might decide to up and kill 10 people because a song put the idea in their head.

| Death Metal Band's Lyrics Tied To Killings Posted: 9/4/2009 8:56:26 AM | | I love when the media tries to somehow "tie" things together. As if this dude would have been a doctor or such if t were not for that song oh no. From their point of view gardening itself has more to do with it than metal. The media just loves to take action without any personal responsibility, regret or remorse in the name of the freedom of press. | |

| Death Metal Band's Lyrics Tied To Killings Posted: 9/7/2009 12:58:08 AM | | Bunch of stupid bullshit. They also say that first person shooters turn kids into killers. If that was true then all those expert guitar hero players would be just as good at real guitar. People always have to have a scapegoat. The person couldn't have just wanted to do it, there has to be something that made him do it, and it seems like music and video games are two of the things that people point towards the most. Which is probably because most people listen to music and play video games today. | |

| Death Metal Band's Lyrics Tied To Killings Posted: 9/7/2009 1:55:36 PM | Zomg! Mainstream music makes me want to kill every record company exec in the world for allowing talentless hacks to be on TV and the radio, guess we are gonna have to ban all mainstream music then! | |
|
| Death Metal Band's Lyrics Tied To Killings Posted: 9/7/2009 6:31:43 PM | | I dont think people draw ideas from the media around them, either . If someone has a mental illness the ideas come from within, or if it happens to be a group, then they propbably draw their ideas and plan from one another. It is just an excuse, people want to use because they need explination fro all the horrible things in life | |

| Death Metal Band's Lyrics Tied To Killings Posted: 9/10/2009 8:03:16 AM | I remember when it became known that Ricky Ramirez, the LA area "Night Stalker", was an avid AC/DC fan and had , by his own statements, apparently particularly gotten off on one of their old songs called "Night Prowler". Not that he WASN'T going to kill if it hadn't been for that song........he WAS, I'm sure of it, whether it was that or Engelbert Humperdinck on the radio. But , I guess to a point perhaps 'music inflames temperament' so to speak , and therefore (in a few isolated cases at least) violent or deranged individuals can be drawn to or particularly 'into' violent or 'deranged' music....and that goes certainly not only for heavy metal or death metal....
I think also in a lot of cases the constant listening to of such music as hardcore gangster rap inflames the (already present) 'passions' of certain types of youngsters particularly those who are already IN such an environment (a violent inner city area, in a gang , etc.), and then the music with its lyrics that regularly discuss if not glorify drive-by shootings , brutality towards women, and so forth, just kind of goes along with all that as a sort of 'soundtrack' to their day-to-day lives. Keeping an ongoing sort of atmosphere of that kind of mentality and that kind of potential violence always in the air (or at least in their heads....we all know how catchy songs we listen to can be , after all...).

| Death Metal Band's Lyrics Tied To Killings Posted: 9/10/2009 7:42:43 PM | | not to trivialize, but country music has a history of revenge killing in its repetoire-garth brooks, the dixie chicks, hank williams jr. and carol lawrence as well as a score of others have tapped this theme, but i have yet to hear of a c and w song catching an according flak...theories? | |

Yes you are correct.....
I think also in a lot of cases the constant listening to of such music as hardcore gangster rap inflames the (already present) 'passions' of certain types of youngsters
Yes, you too a correct....
But here is the problem - Gangsta Rap is liked by lots & lots of women and is acceptable whilst Metal & Country are not liked and not controlled by the Media Machines.
Guaranteed Disney will come up with a Gangsta Rap super group one of these days.....

| Death Metal Band's Lyrics Tied To Killings Posted: 9/12/2009 6:10:08 AM | Stupid, some metalhead kills some people and the media is in a uproar. Blaming the music.
Like whats been mentioned, if this is how its going to be wheres the blame on rap? Theres DAILY killings, shootings stabbings and the like all over the country perpetrated by fans of this shitty genre, kids are joining gangs, bringing guns to schools, and all this shit heavily influenced by the rap/gangsta culture. But nowhere on the news do I see anyone pointing fingers, why is that? Anyone find that pretty strange? Also the fact of the matter is many rappers have been convicted of the crimes they glorify if their crappy lyrics, but media says nothing.
Ignorance eh? | |
