I've never had a testimonial written about me but would ask for one if I thought it carried any weight...   | |

Posted: 9/3/2009 12:42:36 AM | Who cares if they do? I have seven at present. One is from a guy. I didn't ask for any of them. They just showed up on my profile unsolicited. Did the favourites mean anything? I had 126 when they stopped showing the count on profiles. How about the roses? What does it mean if one is missing?
I've written tongue in cheek testimonials for ladies I know through the forums. This site can be a little bit fun. WTH. If you quit trying to figure out what works with women...
I know you were asking the ladies, but I just love to butt in and spew my obnoxious two cents all over the net.
If you think that having a testimonial will help you with women on this site I will write you one for free. Because I'm a nice guy. Oh, wait! No! I'm a bad boy. With a heart of mush.

Yeah, why? The closest one lives across a large body of water. The guy. The next closest lives in the interior hundreds of miles from me. The rest are from the States, thousands of miles from me.
I'm caustic about this question because my guess is that testimonials will be the next to go. Deleted like the favourites feature. We will have a level playing field of the lowest common denominator.

He is an extremely attractive man, but he's as beautiful a person as he is handsome. That is not always the case. The fact that I stated what a lovely and kind man he is was something that gave the women confidence that he wasn't a player. He has since met a fantastic woman on this site and they are thrilled to be together. She, too, liked the testimonial. | |

I do contact the one who wrote the testimonial, if they allow it, to get the "COMPLETE" story.
What? Holy moly, you are quite the little dectective aren't you?!
I love reading testimonials. Especially ones where folks have a terrific sense of humor and poke some good natured fun. It's all in good faith and just adds another demension to the person you're stalking.

"Well, what can I say about..........."
Most that I see on guys profiles are from girls who say that he is lovely, nice, sexy, gorgeous.....blah blah blah.......and that us other ladies should snatch him up before they do! In other words - GET OFF, HE IS MINE! So as I don't like to step on any toes I tend to bypass these men.
On the other hand there are people who have really nice testimonials.....like from people who visit the forums and have become friendly with people all around the world.
So it depends on what context....... | |

What about if someone gets a same sex testimonial? Are they still saying "stay away, he/she is mine"?
Some people really read too much into EVERYTHING on this site. From the roses, favorite count and testimonials and whatever other features they have. It's hilarious the "drama" and thought of dissecting every little thing on someone elses profile.
The only reason I'm sad the favorite count is gone is because it prevented simple minded people from contacting me. It weeded out the weak. I liked that some thought I was slutty because my count was high. Now I'm going to ask all the men and women that favored me to write a testimonial. I have a reputation to uphold. | |

I left a testimonial for a good male friend on his profile, and several times women have written to him calling me a "blonde, busty bimbo." WTF??? Some of these women feel the need to attack me when writing to him because I guess they assume I'm his "type" and they may not be, so they immediately go on the defensive. I simply don't understand that mentality but I crack up when he forwards me some of the nasty messages he gets about my testimonial from angry women.
In his case, I don't neccessarily think a testimonial on his profile is working for him. | |

Posted: 9/3/2009 6:22:37 AM | Honestly I used to enjoy reading them for women when they were from someone that had at least really met them. I used to write funny ones for gals I had met.
I used to have quite a few and now I prune them off when I see them as I caught so much grief for the testimonials I had and favorites count both. I know they sure were not helping me get dates on here for sure.
So although some think they are interesting as a guy who used to have a half dozen I promise ya it has a negative effect in many womens minds. The number of messages I got JUST to rag on me about the testimonials or favs was unreal
