democrats advance republican public image with media pratfalls

In the wake of the Van Jones resignation, we are treated to a prime example of why the Democratic party offers no real alternative to their republican counterparts; their own nasty habit of placating them.
This special advisor to the president's waterloo, was a 2004 petition he signed, demanding an inquiry into evidence that suggests high-level government officials may have deliberately allowed the September 11 attacks to occur. Fox news, CNN, & MSNBC, have been giving voice to a hysterical smattering of people who claim to be offended, disenfranchised, or threatened by this perspective, implying that anyone who signed such a petition is unfit for any significant position. So do we suppose then that Van Jones was the only one to sign it and that there was no actual evidence warranting such an inquiry? ... Well unless the vice president ordering NORAD protocals suspended that morning for the first time since their inception, and practically all of the physical evidence being whisked away without even the beginning of a publicly performed and disclosed examination could be considered evidence, maybe there wasn't any, and unless the zillion$ of profits generated for defense contractors, munitions manufacturers, and oil concerns might apply as motive there probably isn't one. Many things about Karl Rove upset a great many millions of people, who found voice in the media only as some sort of lunatic fringe. In 2006 while sitting in for Randi Rhodes on her Air America radio show, Democrat and comedian Marc Marin said, the fact that there were people who believed government collusion was possible frightened him more than any possibility that it was true. Allrighty Marc that attitude will really make 'em play fair.
Lets have a look at some of the past Democratic Waterloos shall we. Jimmy Carter tripped and fell down while jogging, Gary Hart took a girl out on a boat, Mondale looked like the Eagle from the Muppet Show but wasn't as charismatic and personable, Bill Clinton looked like a fool because marines were getting killed and dragged naked through the streets of Somalia, (where George Bush sent them on his last night in office), and then had some kind of relations with some kind of intern woman in the oval office, Howard Dean made an off key braying sound, Dennis Kucinich saw a flying object which he could not identify, Obama had a beer with a cop and a teacher, and now Van Jones has the gall to have wanted evidence investigated 5 years ago. And they all curled up and took it as checkmate, while any party line "Republican" could, with media assistance, effortlessly shrug off any of that and much worse but no "Democrat", (besides Leiberman)", would even dream of trying.
The Democrats like to "try" to improve health care or pollution standards - and not do it or do it wrong - so that they can say "I Tried" . They like to try to make it seem plausible, with media assistance, that the Republicans look like a bunch of fresh faced saints but thats just never going to wash with a lot of us thinking Americans ever again.
"Bipartisan" is a word that is cuddled and perfumed by most of our domestic news services in reference to what is supposed to be a two party system, while "anti-war", "peace activist", and "truther", are villified words that never make the news unless they are riding on an undercurrent of scorn. And while I would agree that "truther"is a contemptuously incorrect usage of the word 'truth', that point is never amongst their list of grievances.
Uncountable masses of people from every nook and cranny of the world hold high hopes for America close to their hearts and want desperately to be proud of us because we've handled this situation correctly, and if there's anything billions of people all over the world are actually disgusted, disappointed and angry at the Obama administration over, it's their refusal to pursue various charges against the Bush administration, and repeal the misbegotten Patriot Act. Nobody, who isn't a bloodless shill, cares a whit about the birth certificate thing, the flag pin, or the beers / cigarettes, and that's the unvarnished truth.
