| Borrowing money after 3 weeks Posted: 9/7/2009 2:52:52 PM | I recently started dating H2oLover1515 and after 3 weeks she asked me to borrow money so she could pay her car insurance, that was a week ago. Now she doesn't even take my calls. I sent her an e-mail Friday 9-4-09 and to date have not received a response. I certainly did not have extrea money to be lending and know this isn't a smart practice. Looking for constructive feedback. I am a nice guy and I will always remain who I am at heart. What recourse options are available on this site to warn others of this player...

| Borrowing money after 3 weeks Posted: 9/7/2009 2:59:22 PM | OP, your thread will probably be deleted pretty quickly. It's against the rules to name another member in your post.
Recourse? None. Just like in real life, grown-up people are responsible for their own actions and finances.
Lending money that you couldn't afford to lend to a relative stranger has nothing to do with being a nice guy. It has to do with being gullible, naive, & not really very smart.

| Borrowing money after 3 weeks Posted: 9/7/2009 3:05:33 PM | Hey BigKid ..... along the left hand side it give you a choice to EDIT your post... just take out the name...
PS: but looks like there is no one here by that name anyhow... they would probably have deleted it as soon as they saw your post.
YOU actually never said if you actually gave her the money? Surely you didn't!!!!
If you have been dating her, why don't you go to her house.

| Borrowing money after 3 weeks Posted: 9/7/2009 3:07:46 PM | | I did give her the money, she moved to punta gorda 3 weeks ago. How can I delete this post. This is not what I wanted. | |

How can I delete this post. This is not what I wanted. If you can't use the edit button (it only shows for about 15 minutes after you post, I think), you should got to the Help forum and ask a moderator to remove it ASAP.

| Borrowing money after 3 weeks Posted: 9/7/2009 3:19:00 PM | | it really doesn't matter anymore, there is no user by the name, mentioned by the OP, on this site | |
|
| Borrowing money after 3 weeks Posted: 9/7/2009 3:21:56 PM | | She put her account in Hide mode when we started dating. I would really like to delete this if possible | |
|
| Borrowing money after 3 weeks Posted: 9/7/2009 3:27:58 PM | You can't delete it, OP. As has already been explained, there is an option to edit your post, but it's only available for a short time.
You should have read the rules before you posted, and you wouldn't have this problem. Just like you should have been thinking with your big head when the lady asked you for money.

| Borrowing money after 3 weeks Posted: 9/7/2009 3:57:47 PM | Why is it that the only two options of women I see in places like this are....a) women who don't need you OR your money...........and b.) women who don't need you, but DESPERATELY need your money??
Sometimes the only choice left really IS between the rock and the hard place......

| Borrowing money after 3 weeks Posted: 9/7/2009 4:07:01 PM | I think you did a generous, now proven foolish, thing. Don't worry about being deleted, etc etc. Who cares? Don't judge all women on this site by what happened. From my experiences on the Forums and with those who post here, they're smart, articulate, amusing, generous with their wisdom and advice people. So are the men.

| Borrowing money after 3 weeks Posted: 9/7/2009 4:15:47 PM | Big Kid. Geeze, I am so torn on this. I so feel for you, as I can imagine you would be the type of person who would help out people. You would be a good hearted person. You know it is a wonderful characteristics to have..... but, the big BUT at your age you really should have learned when to give and when to hold back.
I don't think it is any good rubbing your face into your mistake, as you probably feel bad enough as it is!
.Don't stress about it, not much you can do about it now. You never know, she might be busy settling into her new environment, she may not have her computer/internet set up, give it a bit more time! You might be lucky.
Don't let the little head do your thinking for you. Look after yourself, look after your heart.

| Borrowing money after 3 weeks Posted: 9/7/2009 4:18:28 PM | Hahhahaha sucker, that's what you get.'
You really lent money to some chick you met here?
I could see if you had been dating for an extended period of time, and there was a trust... But three weeks? A lesson learned eh?

| Borrowing money after 3 weeks Posted: 9/7/2009 4:29:16 PM | OP:
Dude, you should probably edit your post very quickly to remove the username you put in it. That's a violation of the Plenty of Fish terms of service. It's a bannable offense.
As for the money issue... you probably shouldn't be loaning money to someone unless you're in a committed relationship with them. 3 weeks for most sensible people doesn't amount to that level of commitment. I don't know all the details, and we've only heard one side of the story (yours), but based on what you've presented here, it sounds like you got played, and played bad. Cut your losses and learn from the experience.

| Borrowing money after 3 weeks Posted: 9/7/2009 5:46:06 PM | Yeah, this should be deleted, but maybe you can write something to the Moderator to maybe censor the name out or delete it and apologize?
If you were truly DATING her, you have information about her.... her real first and last name... other tidbits like phone #. If you don't have her phone #, you weren't dating, and were even a BIGGER sucker than most suckers.
If you do have info about her, I would try to get ahold of her in a friendly way -- like "Hey, you're kinda scaring me...". It has been a week, and it has been Labor Day weekend, so don't freak out TOTALLY -quite yet-.
If near the end of the week you can't get a response via phone, email, etc. -- I would bring up the topic about how she owes you money and how cold it is for her to blow you off like that... and if after even more time she doesn't respond, I would make it a living hell, and in a sense, make her "earn" that money by having to deal with the opposite of convenience like a filled up voicemail, email address submitted to spam places, sign ups to "free trials" on everything under the sun where telemarketers hound you to "try it out" -- stuff like that. At least you could have some entertainment from that and she'd think twice about doing that to someone again.

| Borrowing money after 3 weeks Posted: 9/7/2009 6:05:29 PM | You can't delete this without the help of the mods...
You can be good at heart all's you want but you don't lend money to a stranger. Even if she where to have stuck around, it would have probably became a habit. I am reminded of a guy I knew who kept complaining that his girlfriend always asked him for money yet he kept on giving her some.
Don't give a date some money, period.
|
| Borrowing money after 3 weeks Posted: 9/7/2009 6:09:04 PM | OP - sorry to hear about your loss, and it is exactly that! There is no recourse available. If you take her to court, it becomes a he said vs. she said. I guarantee that court costs will be more expensive than what you paid for her car insurance.
Moral of the story, don't open your wallet, any more than what you are willing to lose. It's a risk.

| Borrowing money after 3 weeks Posted: 9/7/2009 7:55:10 PM | Typical nice guy Santa Lucia..........You send her email and say, hey the money I lend you as of friday the Vig is 3 points a week , if i dont see the vig by the friday, one of the posters on POF is the daughter of a underboss , so you either deal with me or them, your choice, and send her dead rat with a carrot up its ass for good measures | |
|
| Borrowing money after 3 weeks Posted: 9/7/2009 7:58:54 PM | | MORAL: do not respond to a date's request for $$$ period-not your responsibility to clean up anyone else's mess but your own | |
|
| Borrowing money after 3 weeks Posted: 9/7/2009 8:34:34 PM | Can you say S U C K E R....
Live and learn OP.
ps. I have some great waterfront property you might be interested in. Simply wire me a $10,000 deposit (Western Union money transfer) and it's all yours!
|
| Borrowing money after 3 weeks Posted: 9/8/2009 12:25:17 AM | Do NOT loan anyone money! You have no recourse. You loaned it to her and I doubt you had her sign a promissory note. Live and learn. If you are dating someone who asks to borrow money, run!! Especially when you've just met them.
You can report this person to POF admin and see if they will delete her profile. You are NOT allowed to post another user's name on the forums to 'warn' people. It would be your word against hers.
Sorry this happened to you. Most women are not users, just like most men aren't either. Be more cautious next time.
