I'm not clear about the posting rules, and specifically about when someone is deleted for being insulting etc. It is clear in the rules that posters who begin to demean or comment on somebody's character are subject to deletion. Yet, I have seen the same posters over and over insulting, denigrating and being downright vile and nasty to posters, including to me. I have been shocked at the viciousness of it all- to the point that other posters comment on it. It is always the same posters and everyone knows who they are. So why is this allowed to continue? My thread was deleted- I'm not sure why. Perhaps it was going on too long but seemed to generate tons of comment. But this was a thread which got mean and I received a number of private emails from people afraid to post because they didn't want to get attacked. But they were very kind and supportive emails. Something wrong when people have to support you privately. So could you please clarify how all this works.

I have seen the same posters over and over insulting, denigrating and being downright vile and nasty to posters, including to me. I'm not clear about the posting rules This could possibly be part of the problem as our rules are a lot different then other sites. Use the FAQ's at the top of the forum and the help links for guidance. It is clear in the rules that posters who begin to demean or comment on somebodies character are subject to deletion. Yet, I have seen the same posters over and over insulting, denigrating and being downright vile and nasty to posters, including to me. I have been shocked at the viciousness of it all- to the point that other posters comment on it. It is always the same posters and everyone knows who they are. So why is this allowed to continue? Honestly there are a couple active mods and thousands of new posts a day. Hundreds deleted. If you see a post that CLEARLY breaks our forum rules then report it in the report violations thread at the top of this forum section here... http://forums.plentyoffish.com/datingPosts12578637.aspx My thread was deleted- I'm not sure why. Perhaps it was going on too long but seemed to generate tons of comment neither your threads length or the number of comments have anything to do with WHY it might of been deleted. Again please review the forum rules as thats your best clue. It was deleted for a reason and the forum rules is the key to that puzzle. Hundreds of threads are deleted by a couple mods and there is simply no time to write personal emails to everyone. Honestly from just this post although you claimed to of read the rules... My suggestion is to carefully read the help section and FAQ's at the top of this forum section again for help or give more specific examples. Good Luck Cowboy

Thanks cowboy. I read the rules carefully before I wrote this post asking about the rules. My thread had about 53 pages to it so not sure why it was deleted.

Generating tons of comments does not necessarily make it a viable thread.

Certain controversial topics, or topics that are worded in a generalized manner that get the ire up of one of the two genders will invariably draw on posters who cannot debate within the civil confines of the posted rules.

One comment leads to another, a flame bait is responded with a direct insult and then the lemming herd mentality sets in and sooner or later the thread becomes unsalvageable if not caught in time. There are far too many reports and with the few moderators that are present, effectiveness is lost in the shuffle. Consequently to wind through a thread and clean it properly, could take upwards of several hours if it gets to the length of yours. In the essence of efficiency we are sometimes left will little choice but to remove the thread.

Yet, I have seen the same posters over and over insulting, denigrating and being downright vile and nasty to posters, including to me.

Unfortunately once repeat offenders cross the threshold and are banned, they will invariably make a new profile, and what little tools we had in the beginning to take preventive measures, were taken away. Not much we can do on that count but to repeatedly can them from the forums till they get tired of spewing their dysfunctional diatribes.

That is life on the forums – a microcosm of intelligence intermingled with a sprinkling of idiots who don’t get it and ruin it for the rest.

Your best defence is to ignore the obvious and not take anything on the forums personally - fighting stupidity is a losing battle.

Thanks. I will in the future refuse to respond. When I've said I will not respond to despicable posts, it only resulted in more insults and put-downs. So good advice.

Whatever you do, don't post in the "Profile Reviews" forum. The two people that frequent that place and "review" profiles are the rudest people I've seen!
