| Dancing Strictly for "poofs" Posted: 9/18/2009 10:28:47 AM | This weekend marks the return of BBC'S Strictly Come Dancing & the very untimely death of Patrick Swayze !
ok the two things not directly linked , but in many interviews Patick Swayze told how lads from his schools called him a "poof" for dancing yet last laugh belonged to him, as he was only male in a class of 15/20 girls, plus made him a huge movie star !!
Plus this week after reading a interview with Joe Calzaghe saying the training is harder than training for a 12round fight !
so guys do you look down on & laugh at male dancers, or would you maybe like to learn real dancing?
women do you like it when a man can really dance

| Dancing Strictly for poofs Posted: 9/18/2009 10:54:01 AM | As a gal with 2 left feet, I tend to think a really good dancer isn't going to be impressed by me and my attempts! I think I assume he is going to want a partner who is good at dancing too, rightly or wrongly.
I dont think that on its own would make him seem too much like a 'poof', I would be impressed, but discouraged.

| Dancing Strictly for poofs Posted: 9/18/2009 11:01:47 AM | I love watching Strictly Come Dancing, the music, the passion, the clothes! I like to see who's got the best chemistry out there on the dance floor. Yes, I also enjoy dancing with a man who can dance....it's definitely a turn on for me. | |

| Dancing Strictly for poofs Posted: 9/18/2009 11:17:01 AM | | Oh Gosh, yes, a man who can dance is very desirable! I remember going to Reveillons (posh parties for Xmas or New Year) and watching all the couples dancing. I never did the white wedding and dance thing in my life, but at least I got to dance with a couple of men in Sweden at a company dinner. They have the custom to ask ALL ladies to dance. No woman was left out that evening. | |

| Dancing Strictly for poofs Posted: 9/18/2009 11:58:56 AM | I love strictly. The dresses, the hair dos and the sequins. And the copious use of fake tan. Lovely. Is it just me or does anyone else think that Kristina who danced with John Sargeant last year looks like a Russian transexual prostitute with 1950s hair? She is fugly ps I would quite like to have sex with Rav Wilding. | |

| Dancing Strictly for poofs Posted: 9/18/2009 12:02:53 PM | Male dancers are extremely athletic and full of stamina....nothing 'poofy' about them I don't think | |
|
| Dancing Strictly for poofs Posted: 9/18/2009 12:07:52 PM | I thought I had died and gone to heaven when I heard Joe Calzaghe was on Strictly Come Dancing - just keep an eye out for those abs!!!! AJ | |

| Dancing Strictly for poofs Posted: 9/18/2009 12:24:52 PM | Well there is an obvious stereo type that goes hand in hand with dancing and gays.
I understand that dancing is a very skilled talent that takes lots of effort and practice.
However watching dancing is possibly one of the least exciting things you could ever ask me to do!!!
Even the lure of lithe young women in tight outfits doesnt really sweeten the deal any!
|
| Dancing Strictly for poofs Posted: 9/18/2009 12:28:57 PM | Nothing better, for me at least (being a dancer), as a man who can dance well and believe me there are a lot who can't who think they can! You rarely see a good male dancer without a woman on his arm.... so is it 'poofy'? Heck no! | |

| Dancing Strictly for poofs Posted: 9/18/2009 12:32:12 PM | | Don't care if it's male or female - it bores me to tears. And don't even get me started on tap dancing. It makes me want to beat them over the head with their tap shoes. | |

I am not in agreement with this question/statement. Personally I think she had a certain sparkle that made her stand out from all the other sequinned lovelies.
I have a friend who's daughter goes to dance classes in the same studio that Joe Calzaghe and Kristina Romanov(?) practise in and she said that Kristina is stunningly beautiful in real life.
If a man can dance, and hold his partner closely, then it works for me. Although I can do without all the cheesy grins.
And with that on one side and X factor on the other, that's my weekends sorted between now and Christmas.
EDIT - It's Rihanoff | |

| Dancing Strictly for poofs Posted: 9/18/2009 1:52:54 PM | I think a man who could dance well and who enjoyed it as a pastime wouldn't find me much of a catch; I love to watch this programme where the majority dance well and so elegantly and I would have had lessons every day to have danced with Patrick Swayzee, that man oozed sex appeal.
On profiles I have to say if someone says they are learning Ceroc or Leroc or any other form of that then I read no further.

Exactly my point in my profile !

so guys do you look down on & laugh at male dancers, or would you maybe like to learn real dancing? There aren't many people I look down on and laugh at, except perhaps midget clowns.
I sometimes regret not having learned to dance, but I was too much of a headbanger as a teen.

| Dancing Strictly for poofs Posted: 9/18/2009 11:32:36 PM | | my daughter looked at me in disgust when i said to her i want to have a crack at this type of dancing, i cant dance for toffee but it looks a good craic, i would love to dance but i would feel a t*t going there on my own. | |

i would love to dance but i would feel a t*t going there on my own. Go for it!
Find a class with a woman tutor. That way, if there aren't any single women in the class you get to learn with the best dancer in the room!
OK, so some classes won't take singletons, but I went to classes on my own and ended up with medals for it. My problem was I didn't take my own advice (above) and so ended up dancing like my aged aunts at weddings - two women, both a little large in the boob department, can't really get into a proper real-up-close tango clinch!
But you'll have fun, meet people you wouldn't normally encounter, and end up having crossed something off the bucket-list, if nothing else.

| Dancing Strictly for poofs Posted: 9/19/2009 12:14:41 AM | Men who are good at dancing apparently have high levels of testosterone and manly and I think that shows through the confidence, strength and stamina it takes to be a dancer. Hasn't the past winners of strictly come from sport? Mark Ramperkash, Darren Gough and Matt Dawson as a finalist, they are definitely not manly or gay.
I have rhythm but would not say I was a good dancer though wouldn't embarrass myself. I love watching strictly.

| Dancing Strictly for poofs Posted: 9/19/2009 5:16:27 AM | Lmao sjxx, Kristina looking like a "Russian transexual prostitute" well id pay for that !
but back to thread,
last year my friends daughter got married & he told me that his biggest regret ( after losing his daughter ) was that on her wedding day that he couldnt have danced with her other, that side to side dance !
& just a little off thread, Bruice is a legend & this year should get a KNIGHTHOOD

| Dancing Strictly for poofs Posted: 9/19/2009 5:53:00 AM | Even though I am a dancer ... and a good one at that ... I hate watching strictly but it is amazing the amount of guys that tell me they love it AND that is usually followed by they wish they could dance!
Stop wishing and go out and start doing it. If you find your local modern jive venue you don't have to have a partner to go and learn with as there are plenty of woman. I would say a 50/50 balance. When I started I went on my own...brave I know.... and I was amazed at how many there were at the venue... 250 men and women! Not that all the venues have that many on their midweek nights, most have about 50 - 70 as there are so many venues and franchises now. There is a 45 min beginners class followed by 30 mins freestyle and that is followed by a 30 min intermediate class (beginners are taken off and go over their moves again) and then there is a further hour and a half freestyling. It is very popular all over the country.
I wouldn't want to harp on but if anyone is interested in knowing more about dancing and that could be any style from ballroom to rock n roll, then just message me and I will be happy to pass on loads of info and websites. xx
