I could recommend a few things if that still doesn't sound like fun. Gap adventures, has some pretty neat tours with a younger crowd. Couchsurfing is a good way to go, pick your destination find someone there and you have a person who has insight and could be super cool. If you have questions, message me. I will be more than happy to explain Couchsurfing.

Figure out what you want to do (sit on a beach, hike, visit old places etc.) then just start doing some research on the internet. Pick up a Rick Steves travel guide on a country you are interested in. His books are great for what to see, where to stay, and suggested itinereraries. For a first trip alone why not go to some place where you speak the language, but there is still a lot to see. You can spend a couple of weeks in London England and do something new every day. If you stay in a B&B a little out of the city, and buy a transit pass it will be cheaper than staying in a downtown hotel. B&Bs will also give discounts for longer stays. You can easily find bus tours to do day trips out of the city to see other sites and meet other travellers. I personally never do a package tour, they tend to be too rushed. There are travel forums on the Lonely Planet site, and Travelocity is a great site, also. Just do it!

| i really need a holiday Posted: 10/20/2009 11:12:18 PM | I really want to take a holiday too. I did a Rick Steves tour of Italy, 17 days, and it was wonderful but frenetic. If you still want a travel partner contact me. I'm in your age range and I need to get out of town!
