Having been single for almost 2 years, i am seriously considering holidaying alone. i have friends ( all very very married/relationship) and they can't contemplate my position as a singleton. i am a mother of 2, (the children holiday with there father), but i have free time to holiday, but no one to go with........... i have looked at several sites but ( without being too rude) i don't really want to travel with over 50's & Im out of the 18-30 bracket, so what do i do? spain, miami, new york, dubai???????? im stuck..... any suggestions?

Take your holiday, have time for you. See the things that you want to see and do. No worries if you oversleep or eat regularly. I could recommend a few things if that still doesn't sound like fun. Gap adventures, has some pretty neat tours with a younger crowd. Couchsurfing is a good way to go, pick your destination find someone there and you have a person who has insight and could be super cool. If you have questions, message me. I will be more than happy to explain Couchsurfing.

You can go anywhere by yourself if you really want to. Figure out what you want to do (sit on a beach, hike, visit old places etc.) then just start doing some research on the internet. Pick up a Rick Steves travel guide on a country you are interested in. His books are great for what to see, where to stay, and suggested itinereraries. For a first trip alone why not go to some place where you speak the language, but there is still a lot to see. You can spend a couple of weeks in London England and do something new every day. If you stay in a B&B a little out of the city, and buy a transit pass it will be cheaper than staying in a downtown hotel. B&Bs will also give discounts for longer stays. You can easily find bus tours to do day trips out of the city to see other sites and meet other travellers. I personally never do a package tour, they tend to be too rushed. There are travel forums on the Lonely Planet site, and Travelocity is a great site, also. Just do it!

I really want to take a holiday too. I did a Rick Steves tour of Italy, 17 days, and it was wonderful but frenetic. If you still want a travel partner contact me. I'm in your age range and I need to get out of town!

I need a holiday as well- may go to Las Vegas- or Hollywood- not sure yet though. As long as it is a warm climate- out of this lousy cold weather!
