Another "My profile" thread.

Hello.

Ok, I've been only few days in the POF, but haven't got any responses and hence I thought that if I could make my profile better in some way. So I am open to suggestions, critics, and other nice little advice from honest and friendly people all over the world.

I know I should be more precise in my profile, there is a long interest-list though.

But anyway, would be nice to get some guidance from more experienced daters. Kkthxbai!

Ok, your main pic needs to be a clear head-shot of you, and smile! Your second pic is fuzzy; delete this one. You need to get a few more (5-7) photos of you. Get pictures of you doing anything interesting and exciting.

Your "about me" section needs more life. Elaborate on your interests a bit more. Literature/reading is a good one. Add some specifics like "I like to read x,y and z. I'm currently reading "The cat in the hat" by Dr. Seuss. (Generic example there.) You might try to add some more interests that are going to appeal to a larger audience...movies, food, etc... You also might want to drop some of the more random (nerdy) ones like Tetris and physics. Nothing wrong with those, but you want to generate as much interest on the broadest groups of shared interests.

I'd give that a go, then re-post and see how you look after that.

Hope that helps.

Ok, what I have done is: I've specified my profile a bit. And as soon I get my access into IT lab I will put more stuff online. :) Please review my profile and more suggestions are welcomed.

Much better.

Your main pic is good, but not great. Don't forget those smiles!

Posting up new pictures as soon as I can. The problem is, I havent got that much responses still. I try to keep my profile up to date as often as possible, but is it still the pictures? (Most of the responses I send are getting read/deleted or unread/deleted for some reason, even if I try to be as sophisticated and genuine in those responses.)

Thanks in advance!

Lemme have a go at it.

You really should have a big toothy smile as your main photo (unless the teeth are an issue, then no....) because a smile makes everyone more attractive and seem more approachable. Your uniform/beret picture has the best smile of the lot, but the uniform may freak out some girls.

You look awfully young for your age. Not a bad thing, just an observation. Got any full body shots that don't make you look 14? (shirt on, though!)

I like your Interests and we have many things in common. Did you know if you click on one of the words the system will show you other users with the same word in their Interests field? Try it!

The profile has good information but it feels dry. Are you generally this low-key in real life? It's OK to use a little light humour, but don't use "LOL" or "hahaha" or anything like that if you are trying to be funny - just a little '!' will work.

Your first line shows up on a search. You get about 4 seconds to engage your viewer's imagination. The word "nice" is really so overused it means nothing here. This line needs your imagination.

The unread/deleted is the same as read/deleted. Most girls will check out your profile first - often in 'stealth' mode - before deciding if they want to read your message. For whatever reason, those girls decided they wouldn't be a good match. Refresh your photo and update the profile info, then resend. You just never know.

The introductory messages should be light and casual. Mention something specific in her profile, make an appropriate comment, and ask a question. Don't say "you're cute/pretty' - it's implied you're interested because you're writing to her. Don't ask a ton of questions - no one wants to have to respond in essay format. Don't blather on and on about yourself - that's what the profile is for.

Good luck!

Well, to be honest, I look pretty young. When I go to liquor store to get a bottle of white wine for my friday night, they'll almost always ask my ID. Kind of weird, but I cannot do anything about it. Unless I dress more formally or so.

Ok, so here is my to do - list then:

1) Add some humour to profile, but in civilized terms.
2) Add some more pictures which makes me to look more mature. (Easier said than done, but I think I'll sort it out!)
3) More spark to first line.

I know, that uniform picture can freak out some girls, but I added it for that smile. :) Posting up new profile with some more spice. Dating takes time and effort, I guess.

Done, more images incoming. :) To maximize the matches, switched from "Long Term" to "Dating". Anything else?

I'd drop pic 1, 4 & 6 - 4 & 6 because they look so different and unless that is your current hair color, it looks as if you are posting pictures from when you were much younger which doesn't help you in the NOW. I would encourage your to try & have photos that show your smile and add some personality. The ones you have currently all have the same tone. Calm & somber - Nothing that really stands out.

Try & get a bunch of your friends together doing whatever it is you all do when you are together & see if you can convince them to take pictures of you. Some people are hesitant to tell their friends they need help getting a good picture for a dating site. Tell a female friend and not only will she help you with pictures but she will probably help dress you, style your hair & try to rewrite your profile for you :-)

Good luck

Well, true. I am trying to get better pictures in the future. Probably could consult professional photographer to get few shots too. Just mention that it is for dating site. :D Sometimes I just feel that I am ugly and that's why I dont get any responses, but that is only random self-esteem.

I try to get outstanding pictures in the future. I just want to stay in truth too when rewriting this profile, I am not going to lie to anyone just to get a girlfriend. That is just ... plain stupid and unethical.
