Nothing more uncomfortable than committing to a "date" meaning dinner, movie or whatever that could last what could seem forever. A drink or cup of coffee could be any length of time you are comfortable with. And then if both of you "click" you can go from there. Been there done that...After not dating for many years my first encounter was for dinner with this lady. I wanted to jab the fork on my eye to ease the pain from the date. Best of luck

| suggestions for first meeting please! Posted: 7/9/2005 11:28:10 AM | Anytime I meet someone online... 1. I have them come to my town 2. MEET them at a bar I don't usually hang out at 3. Don't give them my last name (usually) 4. Don't drink too much while you're with them or leave your drink at the table if you go to the bathroom (good rule for anytime you're out, actually)
I'm not paranoid, just cautious...I meet them someplace I don't usually hang out at (but I still know people there) so they wouldn't normally know where to find me, however, if I am comfortable after an hour or so, I might take them to my "home" bar...taking separate cars, of course...

| suggestions for first meeting please! Posted: 7/9/2005 11:45:22 AM | | Although everyone has heard online dating horror stories, I personally have never had a bad experience and met nothing but good people...having said that, a couple of times the person didn't really look like their pic (it was them, but they had changed or whatever) or they were completely not what I expected...but I've never had anyone blatantly lie to me about themselves or really met anyone I couldn't be friends with...I guess I've been lucky | |
