| Friday night PoF Parties in New Jersey
Posted: 9/28/2009 3:18:37 PM | Why is it that the majority of parties/events in New Jersey are being held on Friday nights? For those of us who have to work on a Friday night, we have to call out of work in order to be able to attend. I don't like to call out, especially on a Friday night (when it's expected that people WILL call out), so I end up having to miss most of the events.
My question is: Why are these gatherings being held on a Friday night instead of a Saturday night? I thought most people (especially the OLDER crowd who have children) would find it easier to leave the house because their children will also be out of the house on a Saturday night (meaning: they don't require a babysitter). Is it cheaper to hold an event on a Friday night instead of a Saturday night? Is it more convenient? Just curious...

Posted: 9/30/2009 7:39:03 AM | Jftennis, I am an organizer for a meetup.com group and I have found that "singles" events do much better on a Friday night then on a Saturday night. I think part of the reason is that single people keep Saturday nights open for potential dates or doing something with their friends, rather than attending another typical singles event, so people are much more non-committal about going to a singles events on a Satuday night. I find that singles make a last minute decision about singles events on Saturday night as a last resort only if they have nothing better to do.

Posted: 9/30/2009 3:31:47 PM | Well funguy, I guess it sucks to be me for the next 2 years. I guess I'll have better luck when I get my degree and change jobs. Oh welz! You gotta make sacrifices in order to think about the "long-term future".
