Let's hear your worse story. Mine was traveling via United from Burbank to SFO, on a CRJ-700, a sardine can, no A/C/ lousy service.

Worst Airport: Sea-Tac- exterior of airport... not attractive. Interior of airport, outside of Security Check Point.. Old.

Best Airport: Portland International, Portland, Oregon- Exterior of airport very nice, interior of airport nice, lots of great shops.

Worse Airline: United Airline

Best Airline: Southwest

Airports I like:

- Hong Kong - Great airy architecture and though very busy always seems well run
- Kuala Lumpur - again great architecture but a little desolate
- Shlilpol (Amesterdam) love the duty free
- Siem Reap (Cambodia) tiny airport with lot s of character

Airports I don't like

- Altanta - has the charm of army barracks
- Miami - terrible duty free
- Heathrow - has an airplace ever departed on time in the history of that airport?
- Houston - has a feeling of being unplanned, just like the City.

Worst airport - Shermetyevo Moscow , epecially the domestic terminal
- Aden Yemen, the least they could do is fill in all the bullet holes

Favourite airport - Schipol Amsterdam
- Changi Singapore

Worst Airline - Sudan Airways, "God Willing Airline" as known locally
Favourite Airline - KLM
- Air New Zealand

Worst plane - an old Aeroflot Tupolev jet, not built for comfort
- an Uzbek Airways Ilyusin turboprop, my ticket said in english "Fight Class"?

Worst Flight - Islena Airways in Honduras, a small twin prop plane so overloaded with passengers and cargo that it bounced a few times on takeoff and barely cleared the runway. I've never been so happy to be back on the ground.

You see Aero100, you got lucky, you flew first class and a flight over three hours, now if you fly first class under three hours, you are lucky if you get anything.

I flew first class on Alaska Air from SFO to Seattle ( got bumped up for free) on a breakfast flight and all I got was a cheap sweet roll and some cheap Yogurt .

God help the poor passengers that fly coach now, now you have to buy your own food.

So sad and now I hear one airline is going to charge you to use the restroom.

For the rest of you who are lucky to travel on international flights, how is the meal in coach and first class?

Also what do you think of the airlines charging you to check your luggage now? Southwest let's you check your first two bags for free.

For those of you who are very lucky to travel overseas, especially the Far East, how are their laws compared to our laws?

Took a flight on Ukrainian Airlines once - according to the ticket , the airline's motto was "From landing until takeoff , we care" - presumably that means once the planes actually airborn , you're on your own.

Despite it's reputation, I've never had problems with Heathrow - even the dreaded terminal 5. Having said that, I used the new terminal about a week after it opened and was suprised to see that most of the payphones were already broken.

or those of you who are very lucky to travel overseas, especially the Far East, how are their laws compared to our laws?

Only been to Japan , South Korea and Vietnam.

Law wise , day to day life seemed no different - expect South Korea and Vietnam drive on the right. You can still smoke inside in all three countries : but Japan - oddly - has some 'No Smoking Streets' around the more touristy spots. They're also quite anti-littering in Japan. Japan doesn't seem to have any alcohol licensing laws : bars stay open until the last person passes out : and I've seen free raves where the organisers sell cans of beer out of coolboxes in order to get money to run the next one.

In general American airports are cramped, dingy over-priced and nearly impossible to get to via public transportation. They suck.

Air Pakistan from Cairo to Paris. The rows were so cramped my knees were pressed into the back of the seat in front of me, with both seats upright. Also, my shoulders extended onto the seats to both my right and left. It reminded me of flying in a yellow school bus. Ridiculous. I know poor people like Pakistanis are small, but come on...

The airport Charles De Gualle is widely recognized as the worst airport in the world. I missed a flight there years ago because of confusing signage. To their credit, Air France did get me a different flight at no cost. Apparently, my experience was common.

Ive been to USA five times.Last time was with Air Lingus, never again it was like being in a cattle truck. And they lost six pieces of our luggage on way home.Other times ive flown with Virgin okay but your asked to choose from the menu but by the time they have got to you its not what you ordered.
My all time great is North West Air lines cannot fault them and im booked with them and KLM next week.
Ive gone most times from Gatwick but now trying Birmingham to Boston.
Found Gatwick okay and Boston Logan international have been very helpfull in the past.

Worst Airport: Sea-Tac- exterior of airport... not attractive. Interior of airport, outside of Security Check Point.. Old.

LOL...you've obviously never been to Detroit ;) The old terminal (for anyone not flying Northwest) is as dilapidated as any I've ever seen.

Best Airport: Portland International, Portland, Oregon- Exterior of airport very nice, interior of airport nice, lots of great shops.

My home airport, and it has some of the best shops on the planet.

Worse Airline: United Airline

For me it's Delta. Short for "Doesn't Ever Leave The Airport". I've never flown them and not had a delay of some sort.

Best Airline: Southwest

United, with Alaska as a close second.

Now let's move on to airline food. Yum.... Yum.. If you fly coach, you are lucky to get anything, but a drink. Over three hours, you have to buy it. This for travel in the United States.

What about international travel? If you go coach, we all know the food isn't like your mom use to make, but if you are one of the rare and travel business/first class, is the food like mom made?

Also the longest commercial flight in the world is from Los Angeles to Singapore, about 18-19 hours. What is the longest flight you have been on?

Best and worse aircraft you have flown.

Best.... 737 series.

Worse.... CRJ's/ small sardine cans/ 757's large sardine cans.

flying cathay pacific, business class, the food was awesome, way beyond any airline food ive had before!! most times its a good time to have another drink lol
london airport......the only place ive ever felt the need to sleep in shifts!! some very odd characters hanging around there! ive slept in airports all over the place and its usually fine, though i wasnt too thrilled when i woke up to find someone had decided to snuggle in beside me, where id settled in under a row of seats!!
transavia airlines......dodgy sort of plane, but lovely cabin crew
emirates from melbourne to dubai, the service was pretty much non existant, but coming back from london they were great!

Airports... the netherworld of international clocks and voice overs...luggage and carousels... checkins and hire car desks.. generic foods...the place between... where you are in a country, but not actually in it yet... or just about to leave one, before you actually leave the ground...
the stateless transit lounges... non worlds...

they all seem the same to me , the bigger ones.... and all the ones you land safely at are the best..... ... I never do "the tour" of such places...

the worst?.. well, I'm not sure whether jets can land on the dusty strip at Guayar-Merim.brasil. so it may not qualify.... rustic indeed... and the only "wormhole" out....

the best setting and take off would have to be LaPaz... the building isn't that big or memorable, nice, however the location is breathtaking...

a few miles out of town along the edge of the high Andes.... the plane accelerates down the strip with no need for any blast upwards into the sky.... the plane barely leaves the ground... then flies straight out over the edge of a vertical bottomless cliff into the wild blue yonder ,already miles high you cannot see any ground below..., drops down as the weight meets the air where you see the Andes stretched out in either direction north /south for miles until it fades into the blue...
.. the pilot gives the plane a bit to get up to speed and then takes his turn...... back up over the mountains as I did , going Eastwards.... though the flight down to Lima on the west coast would be a downhill glide all the way......

yeh, not your traditional takeoff, where you go up..... this one at LaPaz is more like hang gliding in a large jet.... awesome!!!... a jump off the edge of the world...... the peace..

Airports are airports mostly. But, the best airline I ever flew was Virgin Atlantic---all business class seats, decent meals, hot wet towel to wash up first... next best thing to first class (I would imagine---as I have never had the "extra" dollars to waste on first class tickets... preferring to DO things with my money instead!)

As for laws in asian countries-- in Bangkok, Thailand you have Patpong (don't know if I spelled it right), an area that is like Amsterdam's Red Light District.... ANYTHING goes! Plus- if you are old enough to see over the bar---you can drink. You'd have 5 star hotels with tin shanties in the alleyways next to them. And the driving... I'll just have to say, "Thailand, what laws???"

Oh, yeah--longest flight was also to Thailand from Wahington,D.C. One way the flight took 27 hours and the other took 34!!! Can't remember which direction took the longest because after about the first 12 hours--- it became a sort of surreal, "out of body" experience... One I will NEVER, ever repeat. (Of, course- I had to change planes in San Fransico and Taiwan---so these weren't direct flights---but dang close!) And did I mention the bomb threat?...

The best terminals:
Schipol, Amsterdam
Flughaven, Frankfurt

Worst terminals:
Minneapolis/St. Paul
Manama, Bahrain

Best airlines I've flown:
Lufthansa
SAS

Worst airlines:
Delta,
American
World

Best flight I've ever had:
Old Pan Am flight from Frankfurt to Minneapolis/St. Paul, L-1011. Stopped at JFK, flew on from there. Great aircraft, service, & crew. Schipol to Larnica on KLM was a great flight too.

Worst flight:
Northwest, Anchorage to Minneapolis/St. Paul, next to a howling kid the whole flight. No sleep, no peace, and it was jammed so the stew couldn't get me another seat.

worst airports:

Heathrow: twice I had 7 hour layovers, there is nothing to do there, its crowded and ugly.
Atlanta: delay delay delay
Calgary is just plain ugly
Dallas is boring and ugly, too much concrete

best airports:

Johanesburg and Cape Town, South Africa both have nice modern international lounges as well as great shopping for those last minute gifts.

dirt landing strips in the middle of nowhere Africa near a village when all the kids come running out to see the plane.

Honolulu has a lovely Japanese garden to relax in

Tampa great views of the gulf and bay on approach and departure.

I had a 12hr stop over at LAX on our way from Mexico to Fiji about 15months ago. It was absolute hell, spending 12hrs there. Hardly any seats in waiting/food court area, the whole was under renovation. Hopefully it will be nicer there for you now.

The best airline i have been on was Singapore Airlines, travelling from Australia to Thailand. Absolutely gorgeous air hostesses and in economy class everyone had there own tv screen, with a choice of about 3 movie channels, plus sitcoms and even dodgy computer games to play.

Best airline: South African Airlines...when you have to be on the plane for a 17-21 hr flight you want comfort and entertainment. SAA has good food and tv screens in the back of every seat with endless movies, programs and games. Every seat comes with a blanket, pillow and comfort kit that includes a blindfold. Good service too.

Swiss Air has the best food in first class, and American has the worst in first class. In fact the Swiss air business class is much better than most other airlines first class.

Best Airline: Asiana I can't say enough good things about this airline. The perks, the food, the service were all very, very good....and I was NOT in first class. First class has seats that will lay down & become a bed. Very nice for those 12+ hours on a jet.

Worst Airline: US Air it sucks in all areas: dirty, poor service, delays, bathrooms.....yuck

Best airport: Incheon, Seoul, South Korea has good duty free shops & the Asiana lounge was great. They offered newspapers from all around the world, hot food, and full bar. The airport buses into Seoul are less than $15.00 one way. The taxis (black ones) can run upward of $100.00 one way. The buses are of a luxury class. Save your money & take the bus. Sounds strange but true.

Worst airport: hands down, Midway, Chicago....although Detroit is also in the running for worst.

Signage in airports need help. They are confusing, and worse than confusing if you are coming off a 12+ hour flight with little or no sleep.
