since nothing is guarantee, I wont mind spending no more 2o bucks. Because that dont make any sense to spend a lot of money on date for someone who'll say after He's nice but no chemistry. She should pay for her thing since nothing is guarantee if she gonna like me or not.

From your profile:

I'm a very generous guy when it comes to my women.

Doesn't sound like it if you are b!tching about a couple of drinks.

Nice car btw. It's rare to see someone with it. I used to have one in black when they first came out. It was always my favorite car...til I flipped it over and totaled it. Woops.

I've never dated "cheap" men.
The men I have dated believe in courtship and dating, not tit-for-tat.
Must be different for the younger generations.

We all have our own definition of cheap...what I consider frugal or practical, some see as cheap. And I am not about to comment on who pays for whom...there is a plethora of those threads around, with many still active. The bottom line OP is to find someone whose philosophy resonates with yours:).

Well I have to that I have no problem in paying when I go out on a date but I will go to the resturant of my choosing not her's and if she don't like where I want to go then we don't have a date. I pick a place that has a quiet atmosphere where we can sit and talk and not worry about how long we been sitting there as I am all about the nice outta the way places mostly. But I have had 2nd dates where the female wanted to pay then and thats after the bill has come and some has giving me lip about not letting them pay because they ask me out.

I had a lunch date in a restaurant near where I work with this guy. Now, I was a pretty cheap date. I had a cabbage roll and baked potato, drank water. My meal about 4 dollars. When I got there, this guy was drinking a bloody mary, which he spilled, then got another. Now, this was in a restaurant that I frequent alot, I know all the wait staff, owner, etc. My lunch hour was up, so he said for me to go ahead and he would take care of the bill. I didn't mind that, since my lunch was so minimal compared to his.

Well, my good friend, the waitress that waited on us, told me a few days later, that he left NO tip, nada. I was so embarrassed, I gave her $10 right then and there, and I will never be seen in the same area as him again.

AWFUL, just awful

If you invited someone for a date ,it is your responsibility to pick the tab , unless you ask her if she wants to eat on this restaurant /drink in this bar on* dutch treat *or if she is willing to pay for both of your orders meals/drinks movies....In other word you have to negotiate with her .. her answer is a simple Yes or No...

I was invited for date first meeting of a POF guy, from another state, he ask me to take him for an American food restaurant for he was not familiar in my town, and I took him to one, I ask him discreetly if I may pay for my order ,he look me in eye and told that he invited me and he will take care of the tab.. OUCH!!! I impressed him like I don't know any better about social ethics,,,,, he said he never let a woman pay for his meal when he invited a woman...
I was just playing safe, because he is POF man and I notice in some forum how men begrudge the meal/ drinks they treat their dates... I don't believe that they are cheap, perhaps they are just broke but not a wise or* not a gentleman.*. why would they take their dates in a place that they can not afford????? just my 2cent

Why dont you give the girl an opportunity to court you! Next time just call her up and tell her to take you out. Problem solved! If she refuses than she is skeezer! I dont tit for tat give a person an opportunity to show their values and character. Who would not like to be spoiled man or woman, and yes it goes both ways. So, maybe she thought you really wanted to show her a good time. Just close your wallet and do something that doesnt cost money!<img src=http://www.plentyoffish.com/smiles/icon_211.gif border=

I enjoy reading everyone's comments. Op isn't neccessary to start this thread as there are many discussions about who pays for dating. You'll be a loser when young girls read your thread. You cannot change any woman's thought except a woman knows you and really likes you. You are well-educated and should afford a drink for times.

I had a few dates with a man who was funny, charismatic, intelligent...and cheap with a capital C. His idea of a date was to play a few games of pool and have a pitcher or two of beer. No problem with that, as pool is one of my favorite ways to get rid of the week's stress. My problem is that, with the exception of the first date, I ended up paying for the pool and the beer. After spending another not-so-enjoyable hour watching him rummage through the shelves at our local Liquidation World, just before closing time, I said I didn't think this was working for me. He called me up a few weeks later and my reply was, "This bank is closed."

Sadly if you are worth it, even the cheapest guy would give his left nut for you.

It's about how much you are worth to that person, the better you look and the better you are in bed the more that person will give in return.

Can't change the laws of physics.

Hmm, I guess I have never really experienced a cheap date. There were even a few times when I was trying to be sneaky and paid tabs when the guys weren't looking, only to find the money back in my purse later that evening.

Never dated a cheap man.
I have always dated gentlemen who invited me out and were more than happy to pay.

I do however offer to pay for parking or leave the tip if it is a nice evening out.
If I do the inviting, which is rare I offer to pay and they decline.

It may be generational or cultural. (Southern)
A first date I prefer just coffee or tea maybe an appetizer. No big deals.

Sounds like you're not going out with people that you wanna leave a good impression with. 2 drinks is nothin, just remember that if you dig a chica and go for drinks, being stingy will make you into that guy that there's no chemistry with.

BINGO! Landra, you are so smart!

Any man that brings up money or the fact that he's paid for this or that is a douche in my opinion, and isn't worth my time. Sorry dude, but if you're going to want a blow job from me at some point up the road, you're going to have to pony-up for a few dates.

If you can't afford to take a woman out and treat her to a few drinks and some food and fun along the way, you need to stop dating.

Done to death. Go read the coffee thread, it is enlightening.
All my dates, especially first dates, insist on paying. Where are you guys coming from, are you having such bad luck with women, you cant even pay for a simple meal? Are you dating too much? or not being selective enough? Just dating anything that will agree?
Some of you are just too bitter to be out there dating.

No, I've never been out with someone who was 'cheap' on a date.

But I have to say, the best ones I've been on have cost practically nothing.

I have offered to pay and have paid before though, so....

Did she ask you to pay for her drink? Did you ask her if she wanted a 2nd drink or did you just order one for her? And if you did ask and she said sure, why would you ask if you didn't plan on paying? Did she demand that you buy her a drink? Why should she offer to buy you a drink when you'd already had one or two? If you want her to buy you a drink, then tell her.

Eh, that's not cheap!

We met at Starbucks. He asked the barista for a cup of ice...proceeded to not split the soda can he brought from home with me...

really don't think someone I just met off the street (internet, bar, favor for a friend) really rates a free meal at my expense.

A lot of us agree with that premises. That is why we DO NOT schedule dinner dates, etc. for a first meet and greet. If a woman insists on a meal, don't date her.
