I just hope all you conservative right wingers watch this...I know that the vast majority of you would benefit greatly from the Public Option...if only they had named it Medicare for everyone (which is what the Public Option is) the fight wouldn't have been so ridiculously fierce from the right...

I'm pretty far to the left on most issues... but Keith Olbermann has let his ego outgrow his relevance... he's nothing but a blathering gasbag... no better than Limbaugh, Hannity or Beck.
I agree with most of his sentiments but the way he presents them embarrasses me...

His ideas and sentiments have been presented in every way BUT the way he did it....thus far nothing has been done other than to propose legislation that would benefit only the insurance companies. It's about time someone put it out there like it is !!

I watched Olbermann last night when he presented his editorial comment.
As one of the fortunate few in America, I have good health coverage. I pay a $15.00 co-pay and have a $100 yearly deductible. I have on son who is on disability, and the other works for the State and his family has medical insurance.

My husband and I help the kids with medication bills because, even though they have insurance, it often isn't enough, and they're struggling just to stay even.

I appreciated what Olbermann said, and the points he made about what having affordable health care means to him and to his family. I also appreciate his outrage regarding the quicksand of medical debt into which hundreds of thousands of Americans find themselves drowning.

I will have to watch Keith tomorrow.

I believe I just unfortunately joined the Americans in that pit of quicksand last weekend when my gallbladder decided to attack me with a fury. Emergency gallbladder surgery due to inflammation and stones has just ruined my almost resolved credit.......I fear. Nice to know I'm going to live though. I have no doubt though that surgery without insurance will be quite costly, in fact that is what the surgeon said and then asked if I was going to have the surgery or not. What hope did I have? Have the surgery and live or not have it and possibly die? The choices we have to make............

I am so sorry. I had that same surgery several years ago, but then, as now, I had good insurance. There was a time when I didn't, and it took forever plus a day to pay off those bills.
Healing thoughts...

I'll admit that he is on the edge of going over the the top and his relevance is beginning to wane. But to compare him to those three, your over the top.

I'd like to see him tone it down about 3 knotches myself. ~ This rabid "delivery" of commentary makes me ill.

I enjoy Maddow's show ~ ~ many fall from grace from the effects of ego , ~ Jimmy the Greek, Don Inmus, Howard Cosell, just names off the cuff.

From my viewpoint, this stratagy of telling lies fast then they can be proven false started during Reagan's bid for office and has been very effective for the GOP.

It has taken a large staff of researchers like Olbermann team to mount an effective counter to such an attack. ~ He's became good at it. He uses what they throw to beat them up! ~ Much like the Kong did in Nam.

It's my hope ~ he reigns it end soon, ~ as the GOP has started to true come undone in a very big way in the last 72 hours.

Give him 4 more weeks before judging him so harshly.

OP

Yeah. I used that segment in my Critical Analysis class. Did a comparison of Keith versus Glenn Beck. On the basis of Pathos, Logos and Ethos, classic argumentation styles set down since Aristotle first began to develop the skills of argumentation, Keith won hands down.

Sadly, skills of argumentation, based on reasoning, have given way to hyperbole, innuendo, scare tactics, begging the question, slippery slope arguments, red herring arguments, etc. for "winning" debates.

It's a sorry state of affairs when, in 2009, we see, a DEvolution of skills necessary to have informative debate. I reckon we can credit ol Rush, Glen, Anne Coulter, Greta, etc., for that, or encapsulate them all under the umbrella of "FOX."

It's not about "conservative" versus "liberal," it's about having informative debates, but I'm bracing for the avalanche of responses from those who think it's all about rhetoric. What a sorry state of affairs.

Theres a long list of what is wrong with this county and health care. At the primary focus of it is personal responsibility (or glaring lack there of)
1/3 of America is obese. That cascades into diabetes, kidney issues, liver dysfunction, cardio disease, lung failure, circulatory issues.....
If 1/3 of y'all got up, got some exercise, took accountability for your own health situation.... how many assets would be freed up to take care other patients?
Going to the ER for a cough or sniffles or using it because you know you cant be turned away, dont need a referral? That type of behavior has negated the effectiveness of 3 local ER facitities. One will no longer see you unless you are bleeding, unconsicous, or the landed in care due to an ambulance or helicopter ride.

Now for this windbag. Look, sorry your dad fell out of bed. It sucks. Be glad that it is indeed not 1842, because he would have only lived to be 45 anyways. If your dad was in such a deminished state, why was there not more conserted effort on their own behalf to remedy it. The fall alert devices have been around since the 80s. Its a minimal service fee monthly and available in a necklace or wrist band. So he falls out of bed, pushes it, and is not subject to a day of dehydration, hallucinations, renal failure and dementia. IT wasnt my responsibility to ensure his health, but you can se a large swath of forthought and responsibility was missed.

The portion I dont like about this bill is that it is FORCED CONSCRIPTION. It is a DRAFT. If you can go to jail for not enrolling, not participating, it is a DRAFT. Pay attention hippies, you were against the first one back in Vietnam, this should be easy for you now.

If I have taken care to responsibly align for my health care needs privately, I should not be required to take part in this plan. There is no opt out.

If you neighbor doesnt have a car, do you feel the community should get to gether and pool its resources and everyone that is in the town should be forced to contribute to purchase a car for him ? How is he going to be a productive member of society and get to work if he doesnt have a car? And really, looking at his current wages, they would only afford him a car of low quality and questionable reliability, you should as a civic responsibility buy him a new car, and one of status so he doesnt fel embarassed about having to drive a Diahynditzuiki. Because in the end here we are talking about his eventual death, if you dont buy him a car. What kind of heartless bast@rds are you all that you would deny him access to a vehicle?
