What's your opinion, how do you feel having your house on it? Do you like being able to show it off to non bc residents? ("see, this is where I live").
Secondly, have you looked yourself up? My apartment is on there. No one was out front for several clicks luckily.
Also, the pics were taken since may when we had all that wonderful weather...so far I haven't spotted a rainy shot, or even dark clouds. That's a nice thing.

I would like to see myself on street viewer. When I am in public, I act like I am in public. I have no expectancy of privacy. I think I am going to look for myself now.

Well for me it doesn't show any of the place I left (Victoria,BC) or any of the province of NB where I ended up.. I guess eventually those will be added?? Pretty neat feature though, you can take a road trip right from the puter, sweet!!

I was home when I noticed through the front window a car with some odd-looking equipment and a flashing light on its roof. The car was being driven up and down all the streets in my neighbourhood. Curious I went out to get a better look and caught a glimpse of the word "google" on a sign on the car before it went out of sight.
I had no idea what that was all about and I forgot about until I saw the TV news report about it yesterday, and they showed a car with the same kind of camera gear I'd seen, so now realize that is what I'd seen.
I just checked Google Maps and my address hasn't been added to the Street View system, yet, but expect eventually it will be.
I do wonder that when it does come online if it will show me out on the porch looking at it.

| The google street viewer, what's your opinion? Posted: 10/8/2009 6:23:28 PM | | I saw my house and my neighbours outside. The photos were taken in the late spring. I think I must have been at work because I do not see my car. I see my neighbours cars. The resolution of these photos is incredible. You can go for a virtual walk. | |

| The google street viewer, what's your opinion? Posted: 10/8/2009 6:30:16 PM | I think so far only greater vancouver (and as far as chilliwack), calgary, TO, ottawa, halifax, montreal and maybe a few others are on there. Those are the ones i noticed anyway, but i heard there are 14 canadian cities.
I was "walking" down a street in kits ad on the way out to horseshoe bay. They must have improved their cameras because the colour is so incredibly beautiful.
I went and looked at the old homes i've lived in. Sea to sky hwy is on there too and all the way up to whistler. I also saw they took the pic when the new pitt river bridge was nearly done but still under construction. Too bad too, because that's one of my fave views off the bridge to the north, would have been nice to share it. Now i have to go aaall the way down to the new one and go across it by foot. siiigh :) lazy Alli.

| The google street viewer, what's your opinion? Posted: 10/8/2009 7:10:04 PM | I found my house. :) But the pic was taken before June, since my landlords put in a driveway over the whole of the front lawn and it shows the lawn, grass and all lol Plus there are no leaves on the trees around either, so definitely taken sometime in the Spring.
Unfortunately, my car wasn't home when the pic was taken :( kinda crappy.

They blur out license plates and ppls faces. The spokesperson that was in the news yesterday said if they missed blurring someone's face, and they admit it will happen, you can contact Google and they will remove it promptly.

I think its pretty cool. They blur out license plates and ppls faces.
Thats not the only thing that gets blured out. Apparently reflective surfaces like hubcaps and windows can be blurred too.
Anyway I have the date pegged at somewhere between april and june, as like the above posters, landscaping has changed since the photos were taken.
I checked my entire grocery shopping walk to see if I happened to end up in it.

WOW, I think it's really COOL <img src=http://www.plentyoffish.com/smiles/icon_201.gif border=0> lllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll I think many people will extract much enjoyment out of it, and people will find many profitable uses for this thing. They must have plunked- down some serious coin to make it happen. lllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

| The google street viewer, what's your opinion? Posted: 10/9/2009 7:37:20 PM | Well, it was all the rage at work today and young people aren't concerned about privacy issues.
At the same time, I told my neighbour that I saw her on this site. She knows she is up there and says she does not like the site.
I think older people are more likely to dislike this site.

| The google street viewer, what's your opinion? Posted: 10/10/2009 10:14:36 AM | I'll never understand why people get all messed up over public space being in a public domain via closed circuit or google earth...... I'm all for closed circuit tv on every street corner, googles new street view has endless pro's vs no cons.....the security aspect, another much needed police tool will be and has been a valuable assset in crime solving.
My homes on it front and center, I'm quite proud of it's appearance so it's a non issue....... Those that rant about privacy invasion etc are either hiding something or just chronic whiners....who knows..............

I strongly disagree with the above.
Privacy is a RIGHT. I am all for having safe streets and putting bad people in their place, but I do not need a fukin satellite zooming in on my house. It's mine... go away!
Seriously, we are all but numbers now. Privacy is going the way of the dodo bird.

| The google street viewer, what's your opinion? Posted: 10/10/2009 11:32:03 AM | I finally checked this out this morning. Cool!!
This may actually help me in my work where people are supposed to submit photos of their homes and never get around to it - save me the hassle of driving out and doing it myself.
I couldn't care less if someone wants to take a picture of my house. So what. I'm not doing anything illegal and there's no picture of me or my family. Just make sure they do it on a day that I've mowed the lawn and the car is washed.

| The google street viewer, what's your opinion? Posted: 10/10/2009 12:07:35 PM | I was kind of creeped out at first .. but then last night I had plans to meet a friend at a restaurant I'd never been to before, and it was kind of cool to be able to not only get directions, but actually see what to look out for.
I like that they blur out people's faces and license plate numbers if they happen to be in the picture.

| The google street viewer, what's your opinion? Posted: 10/10/2009 1:57:28 PM | Mr piggy sir.....
With all due respect........ The street view is not from a satelite but merely a car with a mounted camera capturing images... Your privacy is not invaded as your street and property are in plain sight for anyone to see.... If want privacy, close your curtains and doors...............everything else is fair game......

oh cool. I wish i had thought to do that for the surrey natural foods place i couldn't find today. All those little strip malls, sometimes it's hard to spot an address or see a store buried in a corner.
