Those are lots of fun. There is a chance the weather will be really cold, but it will likely be mild. Not sure what activities you are looking for, but I recommend my adopted country of Germany.

Haven't been to Geneva (I assume you mean Switzerland) or Philly. I have been to Lucerne, SW and very nice also many other places in Germany, Belgium, and Austria (Salzburg very nice too). Have fun.

May I suggest you use google and type in cities in the United States that really have fun things to do at Christmas time.
Also be aware, buy you tickets as far in advance as you can.
Good Luck. | |

Best borscht in the world, and some of the nicest people.

Of these three (Frankfurt, Geneva, Philly) I would pick Geneva. I've been to Geneva in winter: It's a very pretty town. Just my opinion, but Frankfurt is not very nice. Switzerland is just as nice at Christmas time as Germany, and Geneva is way, way nicer than Frankfurt. I've lived in Germany, btw, so I am a bit familiar with Germany in winter and at Christmas. Where I lived in Germany, is on the border with Switzerland, so I am familiar with both countries, to some extent. When visiting friends in Germany, we cross the border and go to Switzerland. In recent years, I've spent Christmas time there twice. Anyway, if it's a choice between Geneva and Frankfurt, I say Geneva.

NYC> Copenhagen> St. Petersburg> Moscow> Tallin >Helsinki> Copenhagen ( as where my flights originate from).
I just don't think I can do a warm vacation and come back to the cold. Something about that disturbs me greatly. Where ever you go I am sure you will make the most of it.

It is a magical place with beautiful buildings and castles and a very hospitable people. There are lots of places to stay and plenty of seafood bars and lamb and venison in abundance. Unlike Ireland potatoes have never taken on so bread not unlike French baguettes are eaten along with Atlantic olives , basking sharks and a delicacy made from seaweed is common. There are few distractions other than the beauty of the islands and the seabirds and the crashing waves. One way flights can be arranged from Galway, Knock and Derry airports. Most people misjudge how long they want to stay so it is better to arrange a oneway flight and arrange a return usually a lot longer than anticipated but it is well worth the journey. Try Ossiantravel or Embarrtravel of Dublin for enquiries.
