Football: Should I be mad

Once again the local CBS channel decided to play the Bufflo Bills game rather than the New York Giants. When ever the giants play an AFC opponet at home at the same time as a Bills game the local network ALWAYS plays the Bills game. I'm sure that if I were to email them that they would claim once again that area interest is higher for the Bills. But at this point of the season do even Bills fan care? I mean who would you rather see play, the now 5-0 Giants or the 1-4 Bill. I know the Bills game was close, they lost by a feild goal to Clevand,...Clevand!

But who Cares.

So I am mad, but should I be?

Give your cable company the big middle finger, find a cheap satellite provider, order NFL Sunday Ticket, and your problems are solved

If it makes your feel better CBS only showed the first half of the game. At least on the west coast.

You need to check with your local FOX affiliate; CBS has a contract to primarily carry AFC games, while FOX carries the NFC. I think -not totally sure- that when there's an inter-conference game, the "away" team is the one that determines which of those two networks cover the game: for example, if the Giants visit Miami, the game should be on FOX; but if the Dolphins visit the Meadowlands to play the Giants, the game should be on CBS.
None of this applies to NBC's Sunday Night package, or ABC/ESPN's Monday Night Football, other than if the local team is playing on Monday Night, then the local ABC affiliate will broadcast the game, so the nineteen people in any given city without cable/satellite/Uverse don't miss the game.

just go to myp2p.eu and watch the game online for free and that will fix your problem. That's what I do when I can't watch my Steelers play on TV.

Steveemac, right, when ever there is a interconference game and the local CBS afflilate has the choice which game to air, they choose the Bills. They always do no matter what the teams records, who is in contention for playoffs etc. Back in the old days I would just tune the antenna rotor north and try to pick the game up out of Watertown as they generally played the giants. But I never got a digital set top converter as I have a satellite and where I live I would be luckly to pick up the digital broadcast.

No I don't beleive Dish Satellite has the football package and I wouldn't buy it for the two games a year that I miss because the local sports director is a bills fan.

Sun, Nov 8th is the next and last CBS game this year, Bills will be 1 -7 and still get aired.

Just wanted to rant a bit.

i got only 1 1oclock game ( philly vs t.b.) and only 1 4oclock game ( denver vs n.e.) which was a great game, but u would think the nfl would want to show as many games as poss., this is just another example of why college is so much better for its fans

Well, they may not actually "choose" to; I tried to find your town on the map, but couldn't, so I'll assume that you're in a part of the Empire State that is considered part of the Bills home territory-likely, in those cases, the network (CBS) probably dictates that they must carry the Bills. You're not the only one to feel slighted by this: many times, over the years, fans would be watching an exciting, close game that started at 1pm EST (or Noon Central, etc.) that was coming "down to the wire;" only nto have the network cut away to show their local team "in it's entirety." Which is damned annoying; I think I'm safe in saying that a majority of football fans would be willing to give up the first five minutes of their local team to see the outcome of the early game that they've already invested (up to) three hours of their Sunday afternoon in - especially if it's that close...but the networks have stringent rules, as there's huge money involved: this year, the four networks have paid the NFL 2.4 billion for the rights to cover the games; and the NFL is the only professional sport that has more than two of the networks covering it. As they say, money talks...

Find you a sports bar to go to. I go to Bailey's sports bar and Grill they have satellite dishes on top of the building with about 12 HD TV's lined up in a row where you can sit and eat and do ALL the games $$

It is the Syracuse affliate and what they responded to my inquiry last year was that in the instances where they could choose, was their decision is base upon a belief that there is a stronger Buffalo Fan base in their broadcast area.
