| Favorite Hike? Posted: 10/12/2009 8:42:31 AM | So for all the other hikers out there what is your favorite and why? I usually like one where I can get a bit of stairclimber in at least for a bit (not Grouse Grind) I like ones that have beautiful vistas to look at. Recently I did the Baden Powell up Cypress to Eagles Bluff that was gorgeous, did the Lynn Canyon Loop which was nice but not many scenic look out points, the Diaz Vista is really pretty too.
Plan on doing one today any thoughts?

| Favorite Hike? Posted: 10/12/2009 10:41:50 AM | | Two favourites: Deep Cove and Minnekhada Park. Both because they are moderate hikes, not as strenuous as the Grind, and they have that beautiful scenic reward at the top. .... or part way as in the Deep Cove trek. | |

Make sure you are carrying the 10 essentials. Dont hike alone. Make sure someone knows what time to expect you back. Wear proper hiking boots. Dont wear any cotton items.
Have fun, those should keep you busy for a while.

| Favorite Hike? Posted: 10/15/2009 7:47:31 AM | I ended up doing Quarry Rock in Deep Cove it was really pretty. Nothing all that strenuous perfect for what I was looking for since I didn't know the level of fitness of my friend and for the time we ended up getting started. All in all it was a perfect day.
I will keep theother hikes in mind for another time.....I actually googled North Shore Hikes it gave a good list.

| Favorite Hike? Posted: 10/15/2009 8:50:40 AM | I found this to be a great website for finding trails here in the Lower Mainland. Many regions have a system of trails from easy to extremely difficult. What I like is how you are really never more than an hours drive away from whatever type of hike you might want to do.
Personal faves so far have to be;
Buntzen Lake. Diez Vistas is a good stomp.... some good climbing and great views (although some are poorly marked, so you have to be adventurous)
UBC Research Forest in Maple Ridge. Great views of the surrounding area.
Minnekhada Regional Park
Here is the website. Add it to your favorites.

| Favorite Hike? Posted: 10/16/2009 1:57:12 AM | | I like to just walk out my back yard, and walk around the Burnaby Lake trails. There are no uphill battles along the walk. It's nice to just get out of the house and away from a lot of the civilized craziness for a while!! There are lots of Mallards, Wood Ducks, and Canadian Geese at the BBY Lake Nature Park. It's cute in the springtime when all of the hatchlings are out with their parents!! | |

| Favorite Hike? Posted: 10/16/2009 12:53:16 PM | My fav is the trek across the heart Vancouver Island in Strathcona Park. (BC first park BTW and will be 100 years old 2011(some say 2010, i say bull....)).
the hike start at Westmin mines and wander for 5 to 10 days crossing the heart of the island and passing by (or on too) the highest mountain on the island, Golden Hinde before you exiting out down the elk river past Landslide lake to the highway near Gold river.
in wandering it, you cross 7 valley and wander on 5 different mountains on ancient sea floor(300million years old, i think it is) , during that time you would be lucky if run across another human-being on that route. (that in the middle section, both ends are busy)
you can truly feel ALONE IN THE WILDERNESS, but its only a feeling, it isn't true thou, to many of us mammals out there these days. which is good and bad, the good side, more help around if you need it and that's a good thing!
