| What music currently inspires you? Posted: 10/12/2009 6:02:26 PM | I was watching a video online the other day that had an audio track of Rammstein I have never heard before called Fever Frei! I was instantly hooked and went back through my old CD's to find the Sehnsucht CD... you know, with Du hast. So Rammstein is my current guitar playing inspiration.
I am 99% sure that the guitarist is using a noise gate and sadly I do not have one. I can just palm or pod mute, but it just is not the same. I would check on the price of a noise gate but bet I would just depress me... sec... I'm going to check... OK, checked and am more depressed than I thought I was going to be. Noise Gate Pedal starting at $120, that is almost as much as my distortion pedal!
At least my distortion is on par with Rammstein sound. I use the Boss Metal Core stomp box and LOVE it.
Anywho, what is tripping your musical trigger as of late?

Everything from Killswitch Engage, Atreyu, Blind Melon, Limp Bizkit, Public Enemy, AFI, Anberlin, Metallica, Nine Inch Nails, Oasis, Pantera, Linkin Park, Silverstein, Senses Fail, Thrice, Underoath, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Gojira, Hatebreed, Incubus, and In Flames, And believe me, if I listed everything I was listening to right now, it would take days to type.

| What music currently inspires you? Posted: 10/16/2009 6:24:51 PM | I feel inspired by any music that has a positive vibe to it. Whether it be the message in the lyrics, or just a fun/catchy rythm. I have been doing a lot of song writing about things in my life, and a lot of it is along the lines of fast/fun catchy 3-chord punk rock, eg. Screeching Weasel and the Queers | |

| What music currently inspires you? Posted: 10/20/2009 7:58:49 AM | ..well.. one called "see you soon" inspires and moaves me a lot at the moment - it was writeen by the band who pretended to be all angst ridden and humble (coldplay) when really they were cool.
none the less i have been singing it to myself of late... it has a gorgeous "guitar drone string" type affect at the end and the lyrics are quite sad and dreamy - i think it was one of the better songs the band did after a rush of blood to the head and it kinda makes me think of somone being all innocent "dumb" it brings a tear to my eye at times..it is a lovely song... i was a very contented person when i first heard it in august 2006 and it brings back a lot of memories from that time..(not to mention thoughts of how hard it can sometimes be to keep yourself happy and move on, (no matter what you do!)
So you lost your trust And you never should have No,you never should have But don't break your back If you ever hear this But don't answer that In a bullet proof vest With the windows all closed I'll be doing my best I'll see you soon In a telescope lens And when all you want is friends I'll see you soon
So they came for you They came snapping at your heels They come snapping at your heels But don't break your back If you ever say this But don't answer that
In a bullet proof vest With the windows all closed I'll be doing my best I'll see you soon
In a telescope lens And when all you want is friends I'll see you soon And oh,
And oh, you lost your trust And oh, you lost your trust No, don't lose your trust No, you lost your trust
in the live version (from the 2003 sydney show) there is this silence when the last guitar part starts and you can kind of sense everyone in the audience feeling all sad and emotional as it is being played - yet being moved by the lone guitar part

I cant get into music if the guitar isnt insanely good. I listen to mostly Power Metal and Progressive metal I find that genre to have the best guitar players.

| What music currently inspires you? Posted: 10/24/2009 4:36:07 AM | Good vid, seen that guitarist. He is one of the best. Amazing sweeps and blazing fast 16th note for note picking... absolutely God like ability. I can only do some basic sweeps that I have practiced thousands of times but lack the ability to do anything advanced and fast.. Guess it is why I am the Rhythm Guitarist... but that is OK, chicks still dig the Rhythm Guitarist ! | |

| What music currently inspires you? Posted: 10/24/2009 7:20:26 PM | Haha yes one of the perks of being in a band =D
What amazes me about Gentaro is how fast and CLEAN he plays. I mean anyone can play fast sweeps look at herman li from Dragonforce yeah he can play fast but its sloppy.

| What music currently inspires you? Posted: 10/25/2009 3:48:54 AM | Ya, I agree man. Some guitarist have amazing precision even at blazing speeds. What amazes me the most are the guitarist picking and fretting a different string and or frett with each pick stroke creating fast and efficient runs. No hammer-ons or pull-offs, or tapping, just note for note picking. I get a finger sprain just thinking about it.
Got to love youtube. Some great vids of different guitarist strutting their stuff.

| What music currently inspires you? Posted: 10/25/2009 5:37:54 PM | I love a lot of music. I refuse to and can't pick one favorite. But loving the tunes is one thing...inspired. By whom am I inspired?
Sugarland
Clearly one of the best female vocalists to grace us presently with a true talent for collaborative songwriting. I love the optimism, truth and heart in their words, the soul in her voice, and the awesome guitar. That inspires me.
Even if you don't like Country & Western it's hard not to be inspired by these folks.
In a different sense, and for different reason, I am also inspired by the Deftones, Weezer, and Foo Fighters - where certain individual songs seem to have very unique and well written music, or just explain the human condition so very well.

Currently I'm glad I finally gave "At the Gates" a chance. Wow are they awesome. Off the top of my head 2 fav tracks are 'the fevered circle' & 'under a serpent sun'.
