| Ever been nervous while kissing a girl? Why?
Posted: 10/13/2009 10:37:37 PM | I kissed a guy kind of recently (well, we kissed each other. It was pretty mutual and I can't say who started it, which I like).
He said that he'd been wanting to do it for a long time but also that he was nervous, and I could actually feel him, physically shaking.
I thought it was kind of sweet, because I guessed he must like me to be that nervous about it.
I also thought it was bit odd though. Sure, I've been nervous when hooking up with someone who I really liked, because I was afraid they wouldn't like me back or they'd leave. It caused me to be all caught up in my own head in my own thoughts, but it never manifested in physical shaking.
I guess I'm just wondering what the various reasons someone might be that nervous about a first kiss might be. Just because they like you and want to impress you? Because they're afraid they're not good enough for you? Is this a common occurence? | |

I've heard this explanation before, but it makes no sense to me. Why would someone be nervous about something unless the fear of something negative happening was implicated in there somewhere? | |

I'm guess this guy really likes you and he was just a little worried that it may not have been the right time. Kiss him again and see if it changes... if you can still feel him shaking then it might be that he may not be very comfortable with himself. The kiss should be more natural and less shaky the more it happens... if it is still the same then he either needs an ego boost or you should just ask him subtly... Is everything ok? You seem a little nervous around me... If this is something thats an everytime thing and it will annoy you then I hate to say it but he may not be what you want. Hope it helps. | |

I was sort of curious about your age because it might be a factor. You're 23, so I figure that he must be about the same age range. It might be as simple an explanation as that he hasn't been around girls that much. If you figure that it was OK to be nervous because he liked you, and if he shows signs of being attracted about you, it's no big deal. No harm, no foul. If it happens again, I'm willing to bet that he won't be as nervous about it. If he's still shaking with nervousness the next time, well, it might be time to gently ask him why he's so nervous. | |

I came out and asked him if everything was okay and he said that he was nervous. He also (now that i know him better), is very much a person that adheres to habit and a comfort zone. Once we kissed more he became more comfortable and it became more natural. In my case, the guy is really sensitive to this which makes the kissing amazing, but the post about any continuance is correct, if it happens all the time i think it might become annoying... | |

Oh, and inexperience is not a bad thing. It just means he is not a manwhore. | |

Some people are shaky in general.

But I think he's only slept with a few girls, and from something he said I got the impression he likes me more than most of the people he's slept with.
Same with me though. I'd say I'm pretty inexperienced, but first kisses (once I'm doing the actual kissing, anticipation does make me nervous) don't make me overly nervous and definitely doesn't make me shake.
(what this situation immediately made me think of, actually, was the 29 yr-old guy I was hooking up with for awhile when I was 21, who went on a date with another woman and then decided he liked her more because he got butterflies in his stomach when they had their first kiss. Man did I feel burned. And I also thought it sounded like a lame reason because I couldn't really relate to the whole butterflies-in-the-stomach thing, or why he thought that was somehow indicative of greater potential for the future of their relationship) | |

Mademoiselle, its like going to a five start restaurant. Even though you know it has a five start reputation and the food will be exquisite, yet the first bite is always thrills you. There is nothing negative about that experience, its simply the excitement taking its toll on you. | |

I guess I'm just wondering what the various reasons someone might be that nervous about a first kiss might be.
A while back, upon arriving at a 1st meet & greet, the woman (an RN from a local hospital) laid a long, wet kiss on me. However, the "nervous" part didn't come until half way through dinner when she disclosed that she enjoyed dating & having sex with a LOT of men and NEVER used protection because she didn't like the way it felt... (insert puking emoticon here) With all of the incurable and potentially deadly STD's out there now, it amazed me that a nurse, of all people, would take such risks.
Following dinner, I thanked her for a wonderful evening and went home to gargle with Listerine.
Why would someone be nervous about something unless the fear of something negative happening was implicated in there somewhere?
I think my experience above pretty much answers that.  | |
