| losing your phone. Posted: 10/16/2009 7:58:25 AM | ok. I met this guy on a night out. I was on a hen night at the time being the matron of honour, in a pink tutu leggings etc.. .We danced, he bought me a drink. The music was loud we wrote on a piece of paper, he helped me when i got glass in my foot. We kissed held hands etc. He made sure i got home in a safe taxi etc.. Well this guy and i talked in between walking to clubs i told him where i work. he came into see me . He was better than i remember. Us hens had had alot to drink that night so looking someone when your that way they often look better than they do when your sober !!. He asked for my number said hed call me soon and suggested we go out for a drink. which i said yes. Thing is the very next day I lost my phone. Now im thinking he will think im not interested. Would it occur to a guy that with my phone not having any dial tone and the its not been possible to connect your call message as the constant message he will think that something is up with my phone?? what would you think? In hindsight we should have both exchanged numbers. But didnt think about it at the time as i would have had his when he contacted me. | |

| losing your phone. Posted: 10/16/2009 8:04:49 AM | It's simple.
Get a new phone with the same number. Or change your voicemail message. Make I say "hi this is Karen, I can't get back to you because my phone is lost. If this is Jummy, drop by the office again"
or something like that.
|
| losing your phone. Posted: 10/16/2009 8:05:21 AM | It suck that you lost your phone :(
He does know where you work so if he is really interested he should go back there to check on you ;)
Good luck | |

| losing your phone. Posted: 10/16/2009 8:06:12 AM | | how frustrating is that - and he could have been the love of your life........too bad - I will keep you incident in mind - I will get his # and provide mind. | |
|
| losing your phone. Posted: 10/16/2009 8:10:20 AM | I personally wouldn't even bother to check on her after 2 calls and no answer. She said 'yes' - then disappeared, happens all the time around here. Not interested. | |

what would you think? I would think that she either purposely gave me a wrong number OR she's a little "out there" and unintentionally gave me a wrong number OR she's not very good with her money and it was disconnected for lack of payment.
OP, I assume that you're talking about a cell phone so, why not just get a new phone with the same number?? Another possibility is to go back to the same clubs and HOPE that you run into him again.
In hindsight we should have both exchanged numbers. Ahhh, hindsight is always 20/20! I guess you learned something here, huh? Although, usually when I exchange numbers I save them on my cell phone. So, if I'd happen to lose my phone... I'd be SOL anyway!
Good Luck! | |

| losing your phone. Posted: 10/16/2009 8:17:14 AM | Go get another phone. They'll probably give you one for an extended service contract.
If not, while you're at the mobile phone store ask on of the retail people if they can show you how to record a message from another phone as a previous poster suggests.
Record the message, "I have lost my phone and con not return calls for the time being. If you'd like to get in tought with me, please call me home ph at........................"
|
| losing your phone. Posted: 10/16/2009 8:19:08 AM | | You should be able to check your cell phone's voicemail from other locations such as your home or office phone. I've done that. Check with your carrier if you don't know how. That way you can check if anyone tried to call. | |

if he is really interested he should go back there to check on you ;) No he won't. He will assume the bad number was deliberate and if he has already called, leaving a voice mail might not work either although it is worth a shot.
I'm wondering if the phone company could provide you with a list of recent numbers that called the phone...
|
| losing your phone. Posted: 10/16/2009 9:24:59 AM | | If it was me and we got along as good as you said I'd think that something happened and would drop by your work just to make sure everything was ok. | |
|
| losing your phone. Posted: 10/16/2009 9:33:20 AM | I also agree go get a new phone with the same number. I have not only water logged my cell on a number of occasions I have scratched the SIMS card so that I had to get a whole new one and lost all my info.
Talk with your carrier, I know with mine not only can I access my voice mail I can get the numbers of who have called me. If this is possible with your's problem solved you will not only have his voice mail you will have the his number. Call him, tell him what happened.
Good luck | |

| losing your phone. Posted: 10/16/2009 10:10:24 AM | I wasnt in the postion to put any numbers on my phone as we are not allowed them on the shop floor. Had to quickly find some paper from a colleague. His visit was out of the blue and i was a little flustered as the last time he saw me I was a right sight !!
Im not on a contracted phone. Have been in touch with my network provider, they are unable to tell me of any call or texts or voicemails. They have blocked my old phone and will be transferring all the remaining credit to my new sim card when my new phone which arrives monday.
I took you advice thank you and they say i can still keep my original number,. Just hope he doesnt jump to conclusions..
thanks again.. | |

| losing your phone. Posted: 10/16/2009 10:37:26 AM | He probably shrugged and threw it away, thinking since you were drunk the first night you met him and told him where you worked that you were just being nice and gave it to him when he came to see you at work. He is probably kicking his own ass for showing up at your job unannounced and that he made a fool out of himself for doing so.
But either or, if you reported your phone missing, then your phone number could not be accessed until you call the company back to activate your service with them, even though you have the same number. In this scenario, he will think you are irresponsible with money as you are on a night on the town and that you didn't pay your bill.
Don't count on seeing him too soon. If you do, you will be lucky if he even talks to you.

| losing your phone. Posted: 10/16/2009 11:04:07 AM | PR Hand granade. I have a pay as you go phone so you dont have a bill. I actually own my own phone. Its the phone company i buy my top ups from, it can stop me from phoning or texting if i dont top it up but it cannot stop someone else from contacting me.. There will a delay of days that i will be unable to be in contact with anyone until i get my new phone .Things are prob different here in the uk.
I think your being a bit over the top, how am i being irresponsible having a night on the town, its was a hen party, you know where all you girls get together and have a good night out with the bride to be., and i was her matron of honour..I didnt lose my phone on my night out, i lost it yesterday lunchtime on the way home from work the day after he asked for my number.

| losing your phone. Posted: 10/16/2009 12:03:31 PM | Usually the messages are hosted by the service, not the phone. You should be able to retrieve an outside number you can dial to access your voice mail. This question would be best answered by your service provider.
Otherwise, if there is no way to salvage the messages, maybe he'll pay you another visit. Or you could go back to the place where you met and see if he's there.
Good luck! | |

| losing your phone. Posted: 10/16/2009 12:08:45 PM | I was hoping I wouldn't have to post here:
Just get the phone company to forward incoming calls to your home number.
|
| losing your phone. Posted: 10/16/2009 12:20:19 PM | | Call your own number and see if anyone picked it up so you can get it back, if you can't get it back call your phone service provider give them your number and find out a way to hear your messages incase he left a message and find out his number. Also get the cheapest new phone you can to carry your old number onto and just hope he comes back to your work place to find out what happened. Because most self respecting guy wouldn't go to see a woman at work twice if he couldn't raise her on her phone number which he might think is fake, it appears stalkish. | |

| losing your phone. Posted: 10/16/2009 12:20:20 PM | Much like women (surprise surprise), it's difficult to pin down behavior by attempting to lump men together. I can't speak for what other men would do, but I can tell you how I would interpret this.
If I call, and I can't get through, I'm likely to wait a couple of hours and call again; your phone could be off, you could be going through a deadzone (less and less of them, but they're still around, particularly in rural areas).
Did you cancel that number, or close your account due to the lost phone? If that's the case, if I called and got any message your service provider would give relating to those two things, I'd assume you were playing me, giving me a number that didn't actually work or that you no longer used. It's sad that men have to reach that conclusion, but many of us have had to deal with it enough to be wary.
There's nothing stopping you from going to the nearest retail store for your provider, indicating you lost your phone, and getting a new SIM card (I'm assuming your phone was a GSM phone..., or uses a SIM card) for your old number, then plugging it into a cheap Nokia or something until you can replace your actual phone (I'd lose my mind if I lost my iPhone). But if it goes a couple of days, he isn't likely to try again. He might, but your chances dwindle with each day you let go by with no contact.
You might want to, in that case, try to physically find him again if you're that intent on going on a date with him.
|
| losing your phone. Posted: 10/16/2009 12:25:03 PM | If it was me, I'd more than likely think she was playing games or did this for a laugh.
Unless our paths cross again and you can explain your situation to him, I don't see him constantly calling you after maybe 1-2 tries, because at some point he's going to realize that from his perspective it sounds like you're not interested.
Would you think that something happened to his phone if the roles were reversed?

| losing your phone. Posted: 10/16/2009 1:18:53 PM | I phoned my service provider and reported it lost. As i said my phone was not a contract one. It has been blocked so whoever has picked it up they cant use it, and they cant use the credit that was still on there.Theres a no tone sound now when you phone it.
My new phone arrives on monday, then i will call the company and get my old number.I can get my housephone diverted to my mobile but not the other way around. I personally dont know anyone in my circle of friends who would do this for a laugh to set some guy up.
As i said our phone system is probably very different to the US, we are probably years behind in the uk lol. Anyway will see what happens. He lives a fews streets away from me too.. isnt life strange at times.
