Ratings for profiles.. *read first before judging*

Ok, we are all here for interest sake to say the least, some for dating, long term, booty calls, whatever your heart can find. But i know others rant about pics, i'm here to rant about why we don't have a rating system for people on this site who actually put an effort into their profiles.. not on the person's pics... but how interesting and unique they are when they write about their wants, desires wishes in who they are seeking/looking for? Don't get me wrong physical attraction on some level is something we like and want, but a partner that can talk to me, now that would make me want to read up on this person. someone who put forth effort...hmmmmm interesting concept don't you think??

someone who leaves a piece of themselves on their profile should be rewarded by those that read their profiles.

just a thought..

what do you think??

Absolutely agree. Photos, in my experience (a year on various dating sites, and 15 or so actual first dates) are often extremely misleading: the men I meet are often fatter, thinner, more bald, greyer, just plain older and often (VERY often) shorter than their stated height. I also love reading and writing and therefore the profile is always more interesting to me, indicative of educational levels, curiosity about the world, self-awareness, sense of humour, many of the things I value highly. Of course, nothing replaces that first meeting, but if we're only going on online evidence, I would rather trust the profile than the photo. So much more to go on - you can air brush a photo, but you can't fake an interesting mind.

Well, I got one of the best, most original profiles on POF, plus I got good photos that honestly depict me. Plus it's funny, but now it's getting sick. And there is agreement. Lots of agreement. Plus I don't even care because I got a GF and now I can just enjoy being obnoxious.

If you think I deserve a reward for my profile, here's what I want: give me f&*king pony.

'should be rewarded by those that read their profiles.'

REALLY!? I think the reward is the responses you get. I haven't read your profile, but wonder if it comes through that you need a LOT of attention. Just a guess.

There is a rating system in place with POF. Look at the very top of this page and under the POF logo are a Headings - Ratings being one of them - you can scroll through them if you wish and give them a rating...................... if you have nothing better to do then scroll through them all. I totally agree.... A profile is a strong indicator of potential compatibility.
I often find that respondents indicate looking for "hangout" on their profile, but write something completely contradictory to simply hanging out in the text. Example..... "It's hared to say what one is really looking for in a wife".... uhmm... yeah sho-sho. That's when I run and hit the block button.

I knew some people would go to the negative place with this post, and fair enough. we all have one.
To clear up any ideas like that. my answer is No i would not like alot of attention. I just think that people who put a real effort forth in writing about themselves says something about them something more enlightening or at least more interesting. Again just my point of view.

Thanks, for your reply penelope. you did it in a more articulate then i did. I think having a that invitation in to read up on other people is like a peek into a minimum of their personality, highlights of who they are so to speak. which to me can be pretty valuable.

either way thanks for the read.

Happy fishing all

Ah, rain, don't be stung. Everybody wants attention. That's why we are here. I started out with a sales type profile: I am strong/yet sensitive, I am smart/yet dumb, I am short/yet tall, rich/poor, kind/mean...

But I found the whole thing so f**king demeaning, besides, I'm a natural born smart ass and bullsh1ter.

I got a reward; I met my GF. Letting people know what I'm like? Read my stories. In this forum. I feel not an ounce of shame. Why? I don't know. I'm just not sorry for it. Any of it.

Speaking of the block button, I think we should be allowed to block those that we are certainly not interested in and not have to exchanged messages first before the block button becomes available. I read their profile and I am not interested, let me block them now.
