Once again, the Blue Lagoon provided us with an excellent night's entertainment, and our thanks go out to the staff and Bernie.

Shame we didn't manage a mop-free evening, but hey.....

I was pleased to see a few 'meet virgins', and trust that they enjoyed the experience.

'Well done' to all those who sang for/at us.......the evening would be nothing without your efforts, and the range of material was wide enough for all tastes.

We were all particularly amazed by Albert's singing, given his age and the distance that he and his son Tony had travelled. Until last night, I had never even heard anyone sing 'My Way' before 8.30pm, and they were both there singing towards the end.

I'm sorry that a few of my buddies were unable to attend, and they were missed by all, but I was pleased that so many attended and 'made' the evening so special. So whether they had come from Portsmouth (mad!), Hastings (crazy!) deepest Sussex (relative sanity!) or from across the road, a big "thank you" to you all.

If anyone wishes to upload pictures, please get in touch with me.

Finally, special thanks to the felines, especially the one who provided a berth for the night and a 'cosmic' breakfast afterwards....

Thanks Gary for a fun night, I didn't know I was being videoed, I may not have sung and danced quite so enthusiastically!
I've uploaded some photos, not many I'm afraid!

Fun night out even when staying sober. Thanks ZG for organising this.
Good to catch up with Hams, Roy, Paula, Jennie, , Kevin, Sheralyn.
Some really good voices, well done to all the performers. It's a shame some people get to do 3 or 4 numbers when others miss out.
Thanks to my two travelling companions and my feline friend for being purrrrfect company.

Well done Gary for organising the meet....It was great to see you again
as well as all my other buddies down Brighton way after such a long time.

I do have a slight complaint about the guy who was running the karaoke though.

I thought it was a little unfair that some of the pub locals sang twice or more while some
POF members never had a chance to even get up and have a go once during the night!

Maybe that is something that could be rectified between now and the next event there?

I'd like to say thank you to my lovely host for the weekend and for all those cups of tea and cheesecake x

Hams I have never known anyone drink quite so much tea!

I agree with Hams and CC, I realise that the pub regulars have got used to being in the spotlight every Saturday but its quite noticeable how some of them are up on the stage 2 or 3 times whereas I know several Pof members didn't get a chance at all.

I'm agreeing again this time with Cheekylu, Gary you really are the perfect host, making sure that no-one was left out in the cold!

I dont know how you can say that us Pompey girls are mad!! Although we do like to let our hair down and have a good time!

And sure enough this meet didnt disappoint in any way shape or form! I had a cracking night with so many laughs .. lots of singing (if somewhat off key) .. and lots of chesticle huggy moments thrown in for good measure! (which I have to say I did rather enjoy and only put up a fight to make it look good hehehe)

This is one meet I really look forward to now ... its so fantastic to see the numbers growing each month and to see new friendships being formed.

Well done Gary .. your hosting techniques are top rate with making sure everyone is always interacting with someone else .. no one is EVER left on their own!
I have just one teeny question though ......

When is the next one??????

I have a fair idea what may have caused it, Tina, and I'm truly sorry - a saucer of milk was handed over this morning...

Thanks for all your kind comments, folks, and I'm glad we seem to have enjoyed ourselves.

As for the karaoke, obviously it's not within our control - your host was there at the start, yet didn't sing until nearly 1am......believe me, even I didn't think it was worth the wait! It's worth pointing out that two site members managed to sing seven times between them, but the songs should have been more evenly allocated than they were. I'll be discussing the matter with the venue prior to our next visit there, and I am certain that our concerns will be addressed.

Thanks to all who have uploaded pix.

I note that the Portsmouth and Hastings crews spent some time together near to where I was mainly standing, which partially explains the bruising on my backside, I suppose -where do you ladies get a grip like that from?

I've asked the venue to consider a date early in December, and am awaiting a response. I think the 12th is probably a bit too near to Christmas, but we'll take any date which is offered.

OMG Gary... were you looking over my shoulder on Friday at the menu then! as it was the chicken in the thai curry that made me sick.... don't drink milk!

BTW - Good luck with the next karaoke, whenever you and the venue decide on a date.

Sorry to learn that, Tina....I hope you're recovering well, and thanks for your good wishes - means so much.

Albert, you were one of the highlights of the evening. I was surprised when you signed up, and even more surprised when I saw you at the venue as I arrived! I'm sorry that you weren't able to circulate as much as you might have wished, but I was pleased to see that you weren't short of company throughout the evening. We hope to see the pair of you again!

Mel, if we can do one in December, we can make the songs as 'cheesy' as you like!

I'll start the thread as soon as I have a date.

I got to sing but was hoping to hear Gary sing just didn't expect to have to wait until 1am, as the host I thought he may have got to sing his chosen song a little earlier especially as he was there at the start along with Hams who didn't get to sing at all.

This looks like so much fun I am going to try and organise a get together with some people i work with to the December one, quick question is their disabled access? I wont be complaining about not being able to sing a lot though as there isnt enough Sambuca in the world to get me to the mic.

If you park on the main road you can get into the top bar ok but not sure about the toilet access, I know the ladies is down a level but I guess they may have an accessible toilet that I don't know about.

You've made some good comments, Tony, and thank you for the pix.

The event is a victim of its own success, unfortunately. At my first one, yonks ago, the hostess was noting that the regulars seemed to be having their requests ahead of the pof members. Nearly two years later, the same thing is happening, and it's understandable as to why some members are unhappy with it.

Obviously, Bernie has to operate some sort of system, but it clearly 'fails' if some people are ignored in the second and third 'round' of requests - surely any that fail to be included in one should be high up the queue for the next?

Also, many people are nervous about performing, and don't wish to have a go until a few beers have gone down. With me being a gobby show-off, I'm quite happy to sing at 8.05 to three people and a dog, but not everybody is like me.

True, they could always put up a request when they get there, and hope they aren't called for an hour, but sod's law will mean that they will be called before they have been served!

If Bernie IS running a list correctly, then there is no way that anyone can sing twice before someone has sung once.

Anyway, at the next one, if anyone feels there is something wrong, they should track me down at the time, and I'll see what I can do.....

Sheralyn, I was disappointed to wait until 1am to sing, especially as I had talked so much that my voice had nearly gone. Plus, I could hardly hear my mic, and what I could hear was terrible! Having nearly drunk a gallon of Bombadier didn't help, either. I HAD put up a request for Hams and I to do a duet before 9pm, but that was ignored, for some reason.

Hams has every reason to be upset, as he sings the female part in You're The One That I Want very well, I'm told.....

Clearly, a balance has to be struck. Pof members are welcome to the venue for their good cheer, enthusiasm and custom, and I'm sure that the problems encountered on Saturday will be addressed at the next one.

De.....er.....Donna, thhanks for your comments. I have no idea what your requirements are, but if you ring the venue using the number in the sign-up page, they will be able to assist you.

Don't worry about singing! Turn up, applaud, clap, whatever, and I'm sure you'll enjoy the evening.

Er.....your username is the other way around, actually......but I get your point.

If you go to the next one and bring your friends, remind me to check wheelchair access to the toilets.

Kev, you seemed to have fun all night long! In fact, I reckon your party began that afternoon in Hastings, lol....

Anyway, folks, I have started the thread for the next karaoke, and I hope to see you all there!

Thank you for your kind comments!
