Prostitution .
What are your thoughts about it??
Personally , I feel it is your body .. do as you wish !
However , it is a dangerous career path ! ..
Prostitution is not legal here , hence it is not monitored. Very unsafe !
Diseases , abusive john's , the mental connotations..
Unsafe.
But I am not going to judge someone for doing what they have to do . Or want to do . It is their body , and I feel that they have the right to choose how to use it .

Posted: 10/27/2009 7:58:52 AM | I'm not in favour of women or men selling sexual favours because of economic necessity or to finance a drug habit, but a province, and a country, that has legalised gambling and lacks the courage to outlaw tobacco has no moral authority in these matters.
So they might as well legalise and regulate "solicitation for the purpose". Then at least the trade could be regulated and hopefully made safer for all.
They might as well legalise marijuana and collect the taxes on it while they're at it.
It'd be interesting to think about what kind of... professional association?... "sex trade workers" would have. I have this image of the trade show at their annual meeting. It's... interesting

how many are forced into it as children or at least teenagers
and how many men use prostitutes "willingly" yet their family- wives/chilrren are home without a clue
I personally would have NO issue with prostitution if everyone involved was consenting adults. That is rarely the case | |

I don't agree with girls/women putting themselves in danger to support pimps or hard drug addictions, or as Paige mentioned, being forced to do it
BeeGee..bite your tongue lol...a gram of weed cost $6-$8... a pkg of smokes is anywhere from $10 -$14...gov't has us taxed to death...they keep raising the price of tobacco, however, the politicians don't keep raising the tax on their drug of choice, alcohol | |

Prostitution is not illegal in Canada.
Prostitution has always been legal in Canada, but its limited by the 1850 bawdy house restriction and you can't publicly solicit on a busy street or public area.

It`s a win win for the women and the government , keep the women safe and collect taxes. Regular checkups with a doctor to test for std`s . I see a lot of these women in my area in rough shape from getting the crap beat out of them and robbed by Jon`s . Some do it because abuse addictions and some for the money and some are forced into it. I see it everyday and it`s a shame. Making it legal is a start and maybe there wont be any more missing women from the streets or anyone stumbling across a dead hooker . I`m not for or against , but I would like to see it safer for the women and the men who are involved . I`m also on Divine`s side about the weed , I would`nt want to pay $15 to $20 for a gram , I like the way it is now. It`s only a small fine if I get busted if I get fined at all. | |

I agree with MoeDee...make it legal and safe as it was yrs ago in a clean environment...Brothels were a dime a dozen here in metro back in the 50's - 60's | |

Why should it be illegal to sell something that’s legal to give away?
I can’t follow the logic.
Of all the things you can to do a person, giving them an orgasm is hardly the worst.
In the army they give you a medal for killing people; in civilian life you go to jail for giving them orgasms.

I think the ease of growing the other product locally would tend to keep the taxes moderate.
But that might be wishful thinking. ;)

^^^Why would that be taking advantage? Women have free choice, and furthermore, killer said "a drink." I don't find his post offensive at all. Perhaps the woman is taking advantage of the man hoping for the combo - free drink(s) and free sex.
Personally, I've never found bars conducive to meeting men of much substance. There's an underlying atmosphere of "lets party tonight." But if I did go down that road and couldn't remember what I'd done the night before, I'd only have myself to blame. | |

...hence the previous posts Moe and I commented on...I'm usually the "friend-sitter" if need be, and remove my friends from their intentions.., I have my mind/body control ...not implying my friends are lushes and drunks, however, everyone is guilty of having a cpl too many once in a blue moon without realizing they did lol...my friends aren't skanks either, however, they are more relaxed and having fun flirting back without knowing of the perps intentions...
re: my comment about "brothels being a dime a dozen in Halifax back then"...when I moved here back late 80's...there were a lot of street walkers being killed and the gov't was starting to crack down and clean up the city...at that same time, the "church ppl" started petitioning to close strip joints and won, we only now have 1 in metro compared to 4-5 back then...at that time, the city's history of the sex trade and these brothes were part of the discussions in the N.S news broadcasts and papers. | |

I've been "fooled and tricked" in my life, as I'm sure most have, but I have always taken ownership for my role/naivete, and have learned something from it. I'm sure women are just as capable of "taking advantage" of men. By playing the role of victim, one learns nothing.
Just my 2 cents...
