Posted: 10/27/2009 3:34:31 PM | My gf threw a rather immature, large tantrum yesterday because she came to my work,
I own and run a business, and found that I had been reading Maxim magazine in the washroom. I had never picked it up before, but I have it on sale here in my store.
We have been living together from the start of the year.
We have made it through worse moments, I feel. But this time feels very different.
She tore the magazine up in the store, said I was CHEATING on her by reading it.
I assured her I had no ulterior motive for reading it, other than that I grabbed it to read in the can on quick impulse as I had already read the paper yesterday, and like to read while I am on the throne.
Ironically, I did not find the mag that interesting, no worthwhile articles, and I put it down and left it in the bathroom, forgetting to replace it on the shelves.
She came in to see me later and went to use toilet. She came out of it freaking out and like I said, tore it up and threatened to break things in the store to 'get back at me'.
I was shocked a bit, not entirely as she has these unsteady moments. She has a history of becoming aggressive on impulse and being pretty unreasonable in my opinion.
But she is mostly sweet other times and I can say I love her.
But we may be ending over this.
I am adamant in that I did nothing wrong.
She says I cheated, spent the evening on the phone talking with old friends acting like I was a complete lech, and wants to break up unless I stop selling Maxim.
I feel this is idiotic and immature, to say nothing of the lack of trust she shows towards me.
Please chime in and give me an opinion or two.

And you say this isn't the first time she's had aggressive breakdowns like this?? Keyrist, be glad it wasn't a Playboy you'd grabbed, is all I can say...she'd probably have burnt your store down by now, yikes!
You'll need to ask yourself, OP, do you really want to have to live on eggshells for the rest of your life, and if she reacts this way over something so silly, where will it end? Most likely it will escalate, and lord help you if you speak to a female customer and things like that in future. 
I'm uh...kind of curious, though...what store do you work at, so I can avoid buying any magazines there, if they've all been in the loo with you previously?   | |

Preread mags don't bother me in the least...preread mags in the bathroom? Should I get the black light out, to protect myself from Captain Splooge and any mags I might buy, since there was more of a description about him in the bathroom with the mags, vs what his gf actually did?
I'm still laughing my butt off, that he said he took the mag (for the very first time, no less!) because he'd "already read the newspaper yesterday". Umm...they DO make a daily edition. | |
