| my Irishlover Posted: 10/28/2009 4:39:46 PM | my story-I am an American lady of Irish descent and very loving of it- I know the gifts of our culture and have always been so attracted to the music and the people there are no words. I have been legally seperated with divorce papers signed but not finalized due to the fact of our health insurance..I have a wonderful relationship with my ex-husband of 28 years and we have 3 kids 27,23, and 21 who realize our family if much happier with our going our seperate ways...he is a great guy and I made no mistake in picking the father of my children...we both took the high road which is great as we will always love and respect each other but are just not meant as partners in life...we did not communicate freely, laugh and have fun, bring each other to a higher place...or.share a spiritual as well as a physical connection. I joined pof about 5 months ago... heard from many guys offering all kinds of dates...met one guy a month into it for a drink- nice guy, no chemistry- we talked on the phone the next day and agreed it was a nice meeting and nothing more. I probably heard from 300 guys before I got the one that made me feel like I swallowed a bird ( no, not butterflies, the entire bird). And guess what..it was an "irishlover". How could I resist writing back to that... if I only knew.. Turns out his sister is a woman I have known for 33 years...we were friends from when I was 18 and she 25.. long story short, intense relationship- he owns an Irish bar here and I loved being part of his life intimately and the fellowship his family and staff provided - I totally thought this was it. I knew his finances were not worked out with the wife but I didn't realize how big a prob that would be...ultimately, I got the call he needed to give it one more chance with her..I wished him well but my heart is broken. But I realize I truly love the Irish and may come over for awhile to see what the authentic guys are like! Thanks for the read...any advice appreciated. | |

| my Irishlover Posted: 10/28/2009 5:26:52 PM | | Oh dear what a let down! A guy who you really liked and he went back to the wife - look on the bright side if you can, you had a lucky escape. Heaven knows what you could have let yourself in for. Not only has he financial problems but also emotional problems too. The TWO most difficult problems in any relationship and he has both!!! If I were you broken hearted or not I would count your blessings and be glad he is not your problem. There are lots of great Irish men for sure but be warned do keep away from the married ones - they NEVER leave their wifes for someone else - it is only if the get caught out and kicked out that they might resurface. Stick with the winners - unattached men only and keep to this rule to avoid getting your heart broken again by an Irish man - or any man. Good luck to you in finding love - as we call it here GRA - happy hunting in Ireland! | |

| my Irishlover Posted: 10/28/2009 5:30:36 PM | Dont think your story is anything to do with his Irishness, its a universal story! Sorry to hear your woes, be grateful he was almost what you wanted. Next one will be all of what you want hopefully.
BTW why do people vote to delete threads??? I dont understand it, there are thousands of boring threads here that I just dont comment on, I dont vote to delete them. Thread fascists, gotta hate them!

| my Irishlover Posted: 10/28/2009 6:05:20 PM | Once you have an Irishman/woman, you never go back..unless they are a mad Irish person of course.
It's nice you've discovered that you identify with Irish people so much you'd like to find another Irish lover, I bet you get loads of mail now.
You'll have to come over for that Matchmaking festival in Lisdoonvarna if you're not fixed up by the next time it's on.
I don't really have any advice for you but I like what Goldiecat said
be grateful he was almost what you wanted. Next one will be all of what you want hopefully. and think she's right.

oh OMD...thats harsh!!
she has had her heart broken after all....and most if not all of us have been in the same situation at one time or another.... a bit of empathy wouldnt go astray
KATHMB: this whole thing is NOT your fault, so dont blame yourself...come over for a holiday and have a break it will do you the world of good... but men are men no matter where they are from as women are women...there's good and bad in every society.
chin up girl!!!

| my Irishlover Posted: 10/29/2009 3:35:45 PM | I'm sorry Navbabe:
But come on stop the lights! The sirens were going off from the start with this lad. She's lucky he went back to his ex before he starting preying on her to solve his financial problems. Sounds to me like she dodged a speeding bullet.
Sorry for you pain OP lesson learned. NEXT!

That is an incorrect quote. It's black you never go back. Didn't you say you were still married Mrs.? I vote for the Irishman.

| my Irishlover Posted: 10/30/2009 9:18:42 PM | | No, I am not desperate nor a Mrs. This was simply a case of falling in love..I have known his sister for 33 years and when we met I tell you it was stardust love...do I regret it, no....some people never get a shot of it and it is a piece of heaven to live in love..forget about mowing the grass! | |
|
| my Irishlover Posted: 10/30/2009 10:40:21 PM | | are you divorsed or married? i read you married unless i did so wrongly, if so i apologise but stardust is fun for a short run but lasts but a short while. | |
|
| my Irishlover Posted: 11/1/2009 8:35:57 AM | I am divorced...he was seperated, they had told their kids (25,23,and 20) that they were divorcing....so this was something I didn't see coming...his wife asked him for the second time to go for counseling- she had asked back in March and he said no....when she asked again he felt to be able to look his kids in the eyes and say he tried to save the marriage ...of course it's too bad they didn't do this before I came into the picture...he had dated two other women before he met me...so it's not like we met and he ended his marriage for me. I disagree that stardust doesn't last..I know several long term couples who remain extremely happy with each other and in their love. And that's what I want....I may call it stardust but what I am talking about is a connection that seems magical...and I still believe in true love. | |

| my Irishlover Posted: 11/1/2009 11:46:19 AM | | Hey girl, first of all disregard the nasty comments that certain individuals wrote,, as for being desperate well we could say the same for every one on POF after all everybody is on here trying to find that some one special coz it obviously aint working for them in reality. You sound like a genuine down to earth decent kinda woman, your still young your family is reared so my advice to you would be to grab a friend an come book yourself a holiday in Ireland. As you said you are American lady of Irish descent and very loving of it, so come on over and see what it's all about. You never know what life has in store so when you are here you can get to socialise with all the Irish Guys!! Also i should point out there are certain things in life that some of us prefer , I always had a thing for Military American Men, ask me why, well who no's its just sometings in life that attract us. So you go for what ever makes you happy & please dont spend your time explaining yourself to some silly individuals on here that are having such a great life that they have the time to come on here an answer your heart felt story,, I wish you all the best in what ever decision you make... x | |

| my Irishlover Posted: 11/1/2009 12:36:21 PM | | Nicely said kaytana, OP come to Ireland, enjoy the country and its people. We're not all bad and if you look at where some of the negative comments came from you will see the were said by people who dont even live in Ireland! | |

| my Irishlover Posted: 11/3/2009 6:43:53 AM | Hi American looking for Irish Love. Sorry about your plight. I had been started be divorced from where my wife didn't want me any more. I still started to date, even though the wisest thing for me was to have waited a year after my divorce was finalized. I would gather to bet a good amount of money that is when it's best to find someone long lasting. Whatever it may last. Because this is when I'd be the most healthiest. At least emotionally and psychologically healthy in order to have a much clearer picture etc. of what I truly want and deserve that's healthy and right for me. I hope for the best that we all find love and may it be very long lasting and most of all healthy! P.S. I think the one guy that has commented seems to like you? the one in the business suit... just a guess. Enjoy your life free for a little while any way. You may like being alone, if not for a wee bit. K?
P.S. In my case I got this one woman, who that I thought I could like and was athletic to actually hate me for still waiting for my wife at that time to change her mind and come back. It wasn't to be. Now I move on! NEXT! There are indeed so many other people I truly feel and believe are a much better match for me. I just have to be patient, and get healthier in order to be ready to meet her! Thank you for letting me share this as I have I think learned somethings I wouldn't have if I didn't respond. CHEERS! Yeah! P.S.S. I don't know who uses these things here, but I can't resist!
