| Scammed by PlanetSapphos Posted: 10/30/2009 2:50:52 PM | PlanetSaphhos, for women, free for a few days and then than you have to pay - sends me a message in my Email box that "lovelymolly" has sent me a letter - so I look. I can read it, but cannot respond until I pay. Lovelymolly happens to be everything I am looking for, uses some of the same sentences I have, very similar interests, and exact qualities I do ! Yet says she is new to the site and also has no photo. I contacted PlanetSaphhos today and told them I believe this to be a fake profile generated to make me pay for a membership. A woman called Carol wrote back to me calling me stupid, aggressive, and an idiot ! She stated that it was a phony profile from Nigeria, that their site would report me to the police if I contacted them again, .......and that me, and my IP address would be permanently deleted from their site. | Scammed by PlanetSapphos Posted: 10/30/2009 8:03:51 PM | | That profile could have been from a scammer. However, many if not all the pay sites do auto generate emails based on your search criteria only to get you to pay. And if you do pay, and get no emails, near the end of your subscription, you will get emails to keep you paying. It's a common, although unethical practice. And for that company to disrespect you like...you might have struck a nerve. Also, what would they call the police on you about? That was just an idle threat. Like I said before, you struck a nerve. What you should do is complain to whatever consumer organization there is in your area. Or the area where the company is located. Or what ever government office that deals with possible fraudulent businesses. | |

| Scammed by PlanetSapphos Posted: 11/5/2009 10:44:54 AM | Genuinely cool is right. Match.com plays the same game, including stealing profiles and photos from POF users to play this nasty game with. I don't understand how it can possibly be legal for them to commit internet fraud like this, but it is very common. It's why I will NEVER trust a site that offers only PARTIAL functionality to non-paying test-members. The fact that this particular site became abusive is surprising. I wonder if that kind of behavior is legally actionable. Against them, I mean. | |

| Scammed by PlanetSapphos Posted: 11/11/2009 2:10:58 PM | | I wonder if anyone is actually policing these pay dating sites that send out fraud emails to entice people to subscribe to their services. That's one thing I like about P0F. | |
