| 4th Peak District Walk - 31 Oct - Posted: 11/1/2009 1:48:07 AM | The photos of this event will illustrate what a fantastic ( if exhausting) day we all had on our 4th Peak District walk. About 40 people turned up and we made a substantial snake of people across the landscape at certain points . Many thanks to the people who not only dressed up for the occasion, but who even dressed their little doggies up !!
Please mail either myself of laughingdaz with your email details if you have photos of the day you wish to add on here. Anyone who specifically doesn't want their photos on, you only need to mail us and it can be removed.
Personally I had a major time and will need a week to recover.. honestly it was dead easy, I'm just unfit

| 4th Peak District Walk - 31 Oct - Posted: 11/1/2009 1:41:55 AM | Dead easy?? Actually, I'm with you in the "unfit" camp... I feel like a little old woman today, shuffling around in my slippers I had no less than THREE invitations out last night, and ended up sitting on my sofa watching X Factor in between stretches and icing my aching muscles... Good job I'm booked in for a massage on Friday, I only wish it was sooner lol.
I had a really good day though, thank you to those who checked I was ok at various points throughout the day - if I seemed a bit quiet and shy it was only because I didn't have enough breath to hold a conversation

| 4th Peak District Walk - 31 Oct - Posted: 11/1/2009 4:12:51 AM | A lovely day and a good crowd; "Bones" and I are feeling the strain today and a check with "Google Earth" path shows the walk was nearer to 8 than 6 miles! I am looking forward to seeing all the photographs taken Ken

Was good to see traditions upheld..the Townies strolled home well ahead of the Country folk!!!
Look forward to the next one!!

| 4th Peak District Walk - 31 Oct - Posted: 11/1/2009 6:56:44 AM | Had a fantastic walk, thanks Chris for organising it. I'm quite happy to say, I didn't ache at all AND spent the night walking round trick or treating with my daughter. We did collapse to x factor with all the treats though!
Look forward to the next walk, 21st Nov is it? and where is swampy, i need to take the mick out of something. x

| 4th Peak District Walk - 31 Oct - Posted: 11/1/2009 8:14:23 AM | there we go, all my pics are up now and upoading rights granted.
It's always lovely to see these threads and relive the moments, of which there are so many.
Seems the force 10 hurricane and gale happened round here last night and all today.. we certainly did get the most fantastic weather for this walk.. and I'm looking forward to the next one already. Someone else can be tour guide next time

| 4th Peak District Walk - 31 Oct - Posted: 11/1/2009 9:12:35 AM | Thanks again for organising the walk.... Great day out....Good company as well.
No ache`s or pains for me, went to a Halloween disco after. Braved the driving rain, floods and force 10 gales to do another 7 miles today, Nr Bury.
Going for a new brain tomorrow, the one I have doesn`t seem to be working properly.

| 4th Peak District Walk - 31 Oct - Posted: 11/1/2009 12:34:10 PM | Great day guys I was particularly happy with how flat the walk really was, well done Chris for finding such a well balanced terrain for us all to walk on | |
|
| 4th Peak District Walk - 31 Oct - Posted: 11/1/2009 1:27:37 PM | will you boys pack it in !!
I last walked that bit to the shrine when I was 10 years old.. and a lot lighter - that rucksack was dead heavy !!
and it was nothing compared to Peat-Bog's train incline at Padley , I nearly karked it there.
All I can say is that our water what the townies knicked off us, must be doing them some good !!

| 4th Peak District Walk - 31 Oct - Posted: 11/2/2009 1:30:50 PM | A good day was had. Weather was very good. Hope the landlord of the pub was happier after we all went into his pub and bought drinks/food. Don't think he would have been impressed if we had just driven off!
Walk was good. Nice for me as although I've walked around that area I'd never been to Erwood Hall ruins before or seen the Shrine.
Well done Chris for organising it.
I wonder who will organise the next one...??? lol

| 4th Peak District Walk - 31 Oct - Posted: 11/2/2009 2:07:51 PM | Well now that I'm feeling a bit better I'm considering going back again soon, but this time I'll just walk around the two reservoirs - I'm just not fit enough for all that hill walking again yet. Slowly slowly catchy monkey!!
Does anyone happen to know what Charlie or Kenny's user names are on here? They were both kind enough to check on me a few times when I was obviously struggling, it'd be nice to be able to say thank you now that I'm not struggling to breathe
|
| 4th Peak District Walk - 31 Oct - Posted: 11/2/2009 4:21:38 PM | | Thanks for organising the walk - I really enjoyed it. I'd only seen pictures of the shrine before, so it was nice to finally see it. I'm already looking forward to the next walk. Will Bones be coming again? | |

| 4th Peak District Walk - 31 Oct - Posted: 11/2/2009 11:54:36 PM | Great weekend
Londonwoman, I went up with my tent and made a weekend of it, £5.50/night and it is right next door to the pub, which also does B&B if you didn't fancy being under canvas. So next time, let me know if you are interested.
Steve, got your text but didn't have credit (as usual) to reply but will see you on there.
I walked back round the reservoirs on the sunday as the weather was quite bad but went up Kinder Scout on the monday...which kinda made this walk seem a little flat Daz
Anyway, well done for organising.
