Posted: 11/1/2009 7:06:01 PM | So over the last couple of weeks I've been tweaking and changing my profile, I think it's now at the point where it realistically represents me and what I'm looking for.
What I would appreciate is any honest feedback either positive or negative on both my pics (I really want to get a friend to come over and take some, but this is what I have now.) and profile.

To be honest, I can't see anything glaringly wrong with your profile. Normally the people who need to come here for review are the ones that need a lot of work, but you've obviously put a lot of effort in and I think it's going to pay off.
Your pictures look fine to me. Good composition, good clear shots, nice variety.

But - main photo should be clearer!! Can hardly see your features. The last one of you on the boat in the sunshine has a great smile - are you able to crop it to head/shoulders and not lose any clarity? | |

Posted: 11/3/2009 6:01:16 AM | Hi Nate…The time you spent was well worth it. Overall it’s good. If you find it’s not working as well as you like, here are a few suggestions (some major some minor):
1) Yours was the 3rd profile I read this a.m. and the 1st one I read had the headline “Willing to lie about how we met”. Yours is “willing to say we met at Starbucks”. In the last few weeks, the amount of people using this headline has skyrocketed….so maybe start thinking of a new headline so yours won’t look passé/cliché.
2) “Fun, Cool woman” online often means…you’ll sleep with me sooner rather than later. Maybe try some new adjectives so you don’t turn off the classy ladies…especially because (see #3)…..
3) 1 sentence later you launch into “bed and breakfasts”. You’re setting the sexual stage a bit too soon for many.
4) What kind of entrepreneur are you? When you don’t say, it’s a big red flag. She wonders if you’re just keeping your head above water or doing well. Brag on your success a bit (modestly of course).
5) You gave Good specifics on the books you read, but Nix the “personal dev” books…TMI. It’s great that you read them, but she’s wondering if you’re reading Dating for Dummies, or How to Kick Alcoholism, or ??
6) You might mention how often you see your daughter. It stands out glaringly that you moved here, and your ex is raising your daughter alone on the east coast. Ladies like “involved” dads…even if they’re living a long ways away.
7) “Sensual feminine woman who can appreciate masculine man”….too much too soon. Most women would say “yes” to this anyways.
8) Your other 4 bulleted lines in the list of her qualities could also fit most all women, and she sees the same boring lines in 1000’s of profiles…..i.e.…upbeat, fun, intelligent, honest, kind. It’s what everyone wants.
9) Rather than be cliché in your list…maybe try a few specifics. Such as…I’m looking for a woman who likes to do the crossword puzzle in United’s Hemisphere’s Magazine. OR…. Do you read Cosmo and the WSJ? (again….tailor this to YOUR specifics).
10) Nix the photo with the beautiful women…she’s wondering why you aren’t dating one of them, why they haven’t fixed you up, which ones you slept with last, etc.
11) Nix the “you can never have too many friends”…it’s like you’re telling her she probably won’t make it as date material. Plus it’s in thousands of profiles.
12) Nix the “juicy details” in the 1st date. It’s sorta like the guy the other day who wrote that “now that I’ve tasted life, I want more of the good stuff”. Just sayin….
Yes, that was quite a list of tweaks….but you’re in my backyard, and there are lots of athletic ladies thrilled you moved here! A bit of tweaking will help get you to the top of the mountain faster....and you did say you like FAST. WELCOME to Colorado!
