Also, I am your age, but I couldn't contact you if I wanted to because of your 30-40 age restriction. You might want to at least consider going a few years older than yourself, unless you really want kids...but you don't say that on your profile. | |

Posted: 11/2/2009 5:49:32 AM | Well I must agree with Pam. You are not ugly, you have a nice selection of photos and your profile is OK. The age restriction can cause you a problem. Not only could she not contact you but by listing 11 years younger and not even including ladies your age, you give the impression of being shallow so many people will simply pass you by.
The fact that you are 41 and have never been married may give the feeling that you are hard to satisfy or have a difficulty committing to a relationship.
The other thing is of course what you write in your initial email. Never comment on body parts except eyes or smile. Do comment on something you found interesting in her profile and ask a question.

Age between 30 and 40 Yes, I agree that the age restriction is killing your chances. There may be lots of women over age 40 that would love to date you, but you won't even talk to them. | |

Posted: 11/2/2009 10:06:01 AM | Hi Charles…Ron and the ladies hit the nail on the head…the age restriction is sinking your fishing boat in the “shallows”.
A few suggestions…
1) Put NO age restrictions. Then you can pick and choose AND it won’t be pissing off the ladies who are closer in age to you. Even the ladies 35 and up will be hesitant to date you if you have 30 as the low end of the range
2) She figures you’re dating her till the young thing comes by.
3) Your headline: Nix the “cutesy fish” >÷÷(((°>….it says nothing about you. Put it at the end if you like it….such as we’ll have >÷÷(((°> for dinner or maybe steak.
4) Your profile is mostly generalities. Change the general info into specifics…what do you do for your business? Do you like it? What kind of concerts do you go to? Where do you like to travel? Do you fly there in your own plane?
5) If you want to say “financially responsible” for the lady, put it AFTER you say that YOU are financially responsible. Say that you’re looking for someone similar or leave it out all together. You have it too early on, and she’s reading that you’re cheap or your business isn’t doing well.
6) The single and over 35 (or 40 in your case) is a tough one. Ladies like to date guys who can commit. You don’t need to repeat in your profile that you’ve never been married. She knows that by the specs above. You DO need to give her some idea if you’ve ever been in a serious relationship that lasted. Otherwise, she’ll think you’re a serial dater or as Ron said…too hard to ever please.
7) Simplify your listing of your “profession”…it’s confusing. She’s going….”What does that mean?” You can explain it in your profile, but for the display….KISS…Keep it simple….
8) A better photo galley with no sunglasses on your head and no friends would help. They are your competition here.

Open the floodgates to all ages. A gorgeous, financially responsible 41 year-old may be looking for you. | |

What if that perfect lady is 33 or 34 and of course she might be 46 or 47. I know a lady who is happily married to a guy 15 years younger and another married to a guy 20 years older. Posted: 11/3/2009 10:38:14 AM | Seems like a fine enough profile to me now that you've removed the mailing age restriction, though you've still left in the redundant sentence mentioning you've never been married and don't have kids. Instead of having a sentence on what you DON'T have, perhaps you should flesh out another sentence on what you're willing to build, e.g. are you hoping to marry one day if you find the right person, have a child, etc.
You're 5'10" so you're just tall enough to pass the criteria of any woman 5'8" or below, which includes most North American ladies, though Amazons are definitely off-limits due to the usual high-heel issue.
You seem like a decent-looking cat for 41, with a diverse range of interests so good luck and keep on swining. I've been on & off here for 4+ years and have had only 2 relationships from this site, and a dozen dates or so... It's just THAT hard to get your voice heard and capture people's attention.  | |
