Just recently myself and a few other single friends have been throwing singles meet-n-greets thru connections of friends and friends-of-friends. So far we've had awesome feedback from the attendees .... BUT we now realize that as hosts/hostesses we never really get the chance to actually meet anyone cos we're too busy facilitating the damn thing!!! lol
Have to say its loads of fun tho! Regardless of whether or not as hosts & hostesses we ever really meet (meet as in "get to know" as opposed to just "hi n bye" sorta thing) anyone through that, I think it greatly helps expand ones social network and my approach has always been: The more connections you have, the higher your chances of meeting ppl from all walks of life -- you never know whom you migh meet through those connections and what that can lead to. Keep an open mind!

Posted: 11/2/2009 5:31:55 AM | Approach men anywhere you see them. If you find a man attractive - make conversation. If he's interested and available, it's doubtful he'll let you walk away. You don't have to ask him out or anything - just break the ice, talk, smile, make general chat.
That's what usually changes the landscape dramatically. It tends to double your prospects, and you tend to get more guys who aren't as arrogant. Men who are good at approaching you are usually good at approaching everyone, so appreciation for a woman that responds can be lost on them.
That, and go places the type of men you like would be...alone or with friends and guy watch. | |

But really if you like cooking and stuff like that (since you said you wanted to take a cooking class) then go for it. Never know who might be in the classes with you. Maybe a starving bachelor that can't cook and needs your help. | |

Saw in ur profile ur searching for a PROFESSIONAL type a man, meaning ur standards are high. So many men without a huge hunk of wood/glass n metal certifying their MASTERS OF UNIVERSITIES make decent money and u may find them much more receptable rather than so busy trying to beat the next guy up the food chain....lol. Not against having a degree just cuz i don't, but many times it's true. Try showing ur easy to talk with wherever u go using ur eyes and smile. Men catch those kinda things. Maybe u look unavailable by how u interact with alota men. I'm just thinking out loud some, lol. | |

I also tried speed dating, joined coed sports teams where I didn't know anyone, or just join a team where I knew over half the people. | |

My work schedule is hard to deal with, I never know why I get home. I don't work with eligible ladies, or guys, was asked to have a beer after work, but I don't drink.
Yes, I know I could still go with them, but it just not my thing.
On the weekend I have my daughter, she is only nine. Doesn't really appealing to women, bu it is how it is.
What can I do?
I could hide behind a dumpster at Wal-Mart.. | |

Now that's just awesome! I'm picking up a bag of chips tomorrow, methinks.
At the moment I'm not doing much else. I'd love to go out to bars, and what not, but I'd rather go with a group of friends. People or someone to hang out with early in the evening. However since I went back to college I've found lack of funds keep me from doing much else (not to mention heaps of homework). Most of the single people I know are in my course and in the same boat. | |

Posted: 11/5/2009 4:38:41 AM | I met my last two GF in KC (when I came, I knew NO ONE) though friends I've met.
I love hosting dinner parties and football Sundays at my house and invite a whole bunch of friends, who brings other friends. I met my first set of friends through work (a tiny office of less than 20 people) and virally, my network of friends grew.
Luckily, I also live in an apartment complex, so I met a couple of neighbors (alot of UMKC students here) and I started networking from there.
I think that meeting people requires that you network. There isn't much to it. And staying at home is a great way to tell people that you are not available. Unfortunately, I find that friends will forget you if you don't have a long history with them (aka School chums) so I am out and about all the time.
This Thanksgiving, I am working at Harvesters donating my time (and canned foods) and hoping to meet more cool people. | |

Of course, being a 37 year old and sneaking into bars since I was 16, I DO agree with you though. Bars/Clubs for me are great to have fun with friends, not for picking up a person. | |

Honestly I'm just going to start hitting on women I see in everyday life from now on (not that I've tried as yet). I could be waiting a long ass time before my friendship group throws me a line. | |

I have golfed for quite a while but this past few years taken it more seriously. I take lessons and golf in a ladies league. Damnnn there are some good looking men there, being out of doors, riding the card with a couple of kisses in between tee offs in a tournament is funnnnn
